About

14th-century Europe. Bloody conflicts sweep the lands, and the Black Death comes for the survivors. It's a moment of weakness - and that's all they needed. Vampires seize their opportunity to walk out of the shadows and claim what they've been denied for centuries: freedom, and the power that comes with it. Other creatures of the night follow their lead. Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same.
You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Fight for your humanity or embrace the cursed powers to save your family. Whatever your choice, the question stands: is your soul worth the lives of those you love?

Experience and shape the plot the way you want. Embark on the quest to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley. Rush in head first or risk taking time to prepare. Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.

Experience two different gameplay loops, offering distinct abilities to choose from, mysteries to uncover, and varying ways to achieve your goals. Experiment with different approaches and discover how the world reacts to your actions.

Every action - and inaction - shapes the world around you. Your family’s days are numbered, and every time you take on a quest, time moves forward, compelling you closer to the end. Choose carefully whom to help and whom to leave behind. You will not have time for everyone. The world waits for no one. And neither does the villain.

Defy gravity, become a brutal force of nature, and use your supernatural skills as a vampire. Or raise your sword, and employ powerful magic to take on opponents as a human. Experiment and adapt as your form changes during the day and night; each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Venture through the hand-crafted open world and discover all it has to offer. Roam through the lush forests, the vast plains, the treacherous swamps, the steep mountaintops, and the medieval settlements. Explore forgotten ruins, find remnants of an ancient civilization, and uncover truths that should probably remain hidden.

Experience the beginning of a brand-new saga built with love for the role-playing genre. Immerse yourself in a visually stunning world powered by the next-gen Unreal Engine 5.

Reviews
Mixed feelings about this one. Cons: Stale vampire lore with no interesting details. No wooden stakes, no garlic, no having to be invited in. The main character has zero charisma. He's completely flat and doesn't make you feel anything. Boring side characters. Don't expect anyone like the Bloody Baron from The Witcher — the characters here are faceless and all cut from the same cloth. Since the characters are so flat, it's impossible to get immersed in the quests, whether you're reading them or listening. Hard to care about any of it. Pros: The combat grew on me over time. It's dynamic, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very repetitive. Fun abilities that change between day and night. The wall-climbing mechanics have some interesting logic to them. Beautiful world. You can tell the devs really put in the work and will keep improving the game.

I considered calling out of work today just so I could play more. Visually pleasing, well voiced and well written. Combat is dog doodoo but its an ARPG, that just comes with the territory. Lots of graphics settings so even on a low end rig you can get the game running and looking great. 9.5 out of 10 so far, probably will be a 10 as I get further along in the story.
So far the game is very enjoyable. I have had issues with slight lag or delay in movement, and this yo-yo looking lag or delay in running but overall the game works well for a new release
gud
For me Blood of Dawnwalker is a mixed bag. Optimization could be worse...but it could be better because it isn't really moving boundry's with the graphics. The story and setting are good: Rebel wolves know how to tell a story and build a world. Where it falls apart for me is the combat. I'd rather cut my manlyhood off with 2 dull firestones and that would be more enjoying and entertaining. The 3rd person directional system is beyond redemption: more often than once I get pushed//moved into some gemoetry or weird angle and then your camera becomes your biggest enemy. There's a reason Kingdome come did it 1st person.
Overall, I've been pretty happy with the game so far. I'm averaging well over 100 fps at 1440p on the "High" preset and FSR set to Quality. The "Ultra" preset that the game defaulted to cut my fps by more than half, but I can't actually tell the difference, so I stayed on High. It looks great on my system. Perfectly stable out of the box on Linux, with no launch options necessary. Some cutscenes appear to be locked to 30 fps no matter what workarounds I try, though. I see some people complaining about keyboard controls, but Steam gives you kind of huge notification window when you first launch the game, urging you to use a controller. It also says on the product page, "The developers recommend playing this game with a controller." It's been smooth sailing for me with the new Steam gamepad. The issue with being forced to stop moving when you change direction is an analog stick deadzone bug that has affected a number of games before. The developers have already released a patch that fixes this. The quality of the lip syncing during conversations is not great for a $70 game, I've got to say. But the consistently high-quality voice acting makes up for that a bit. Music is very atmospheric and highly reminiscent of the Witcher games. Using the "TV" audio preset added a lot of low end to the sound coming out of my bookshelf speakers. I suggest you cycle through those settings to find the right one for you. The combat system has a bit of a learning curve, but I like this challenge of parrying and dodging in different directions to set up a counter. It gets a bit hectic when you have to engage multiple enemies at once, but that gets more manageable as you acquire new abilities. When fighting one-on-one, I was able to take down a bear on my second try. As for questing, you have branching options for how you can spend your time from the very beginning. And instead of filler kill-or-collect tasks, you get windows into the world around you and the people who inhabit it. Conversations are about more than just what you need to do to get your next batch of XP. That has the effect of transporting you into this time and place. The major characters have backgrounds that unfold as you get to know them -- and sometimes foreshadow major turning points, if you listen closely and keep your eyes peeled. If you don't like how the game manages the passage of time, there are already mods that address this and many other gameplay mechanics. Basically, anything you don't like, you can probably already mod it if you can just take a few minutes to drop a file in a specific folder. Or you can just set up the Nexus Mod Manager to do it for you in a couple clicks.
The game is kind of jank, but the story makes up for it.
witcher meets far cry meets vampire RP. i can eat anyone at any time, this is too much power for one man
