Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 31.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

As a huge fan of the cyberpunk genre: this game feels like what cyberpunk 2077 would be if it was trying to stay true to the table top rpg.
【NOT RECOMMENDED
Gave it a shot in co-op but it felt really clunky and undercooked. The concept is great no doubt, but the execution isn't - and it honestly feels to me like it didn't get enough development time. I'm actually really disappointed about this one because I was very much looking forward to playing it, as it seemed to be a Diablo-like with a cyberpunk setting similar to Ghostrunner's, and I should have liked it in theory, but the combat didn't feel good at all, which for this type of game is my number one criterion.
verry fun wish there would be a second one with away to join other people publicly
While this style of game usually is not my preference, I can definitely see why people enjoy The Ascent, especially in co-op. Playing with another person made the experience much more enjoyable, and the combat felt satisfying overall. I especially loved the one-hit splats with some of the weapons (super satisfying). The cyberpunk atmosphere and world design are a standout. The environments are highly detailed and visually impressive, and exploration and firefights both feel impactful, with a strong sense of scale and chaos that keeps encounters engaging. That said, there were several bugs during the playthrough. Player 2 could sometimes see uncollectable uCreds and med kits, and there was also a bug where you could roll through the casino platform into the abyss and push your co-op partner off as well. The game would also occasionally freeze or crash, both in co-op and single player. Navigation could also be frustrating at times. Quest directions usually guided you along walking routes, even when using the taxi or metro system would have been much faster. There were also moments where quest markers disappeared, making it difficult to figure out where to go next. For achievement hunters, some achievements can also be annoying in co-op since certain progress appears to require the final hit. This was especially noticeable with Zell, the level 35 bounty, and the achievement for defeating 50 level 35+ enemies. Despite the bugs and navigation issues, I still had a good time with it. If you enjoy top-down shooters and co-op games, this is worth checking out.
There is an obscene amount of cinematic running in The Ascent. On top of that, the player has no way to move through these areas any quicker except to dedicated fast travel points which are no where near where you need to be. There is a lot of backtracking, including visiting areas you've already been to do additional side quests or go to the high level zone of a particular map. It is, frankly, disrespectful of my time. But I can appreciate beautiful scenery and it would not usually bother me except every zone has multiple loading areas. These loading areas are not hidden, in fact, they usually happen right before combat. While the map is loading in the background the framerate drops to an abysmal 14 and can last almost a whole minute. All while you have to dodge, shoot, and otherwise make sure you dont get kicked back to the respawn point and have to load all this again. Oh and all the enemies respawn when you do. I wouldn't call The Ascent a forgiving game, nor would I call it particularly difficult. However, the enemies have perfect aim every time, so you must move, dodge, or make use of cover. They can use cover much more effectively than you, and there is often no way to get an enemy out of cover without abilities. This leads to issues where you're just sitting in cover trying not to die to a firing squad. Eventually they will attempt to surround you, which gives you an opportunity to pick them off. But for the most part, this is an incredibly annoying arpg combat system. I really, really want to like this game. The gunplay actually feels great. But there are too many little things that just make me think I'd rather be doing something else.
