I have played this for over 1000 hours and its been buggy as hell from the start. And despite the MULTIPLE buggfixes and patches its not getting any better. Grab some friends and pull out the board game and enjoy the real thing.
A really fun game but unfortunately the option to play online games or even access your profile doesn't seem to work, so you can only play local or solo games

This is our most played board game ever. Our group have more than 100 sessions. If you have never played this game and you like sci-fi scene with a lot of unique cards definitely give it a try. However, I can't recommend THIS online adaptation at all. It has a lot of flaws which will ruin your game which is already in progress. First of all, every new update will definitely ruin something. AI, card mechanic, game state transitions... you name it. A bug will manifest during the game, so you already invested 10-20 minutes into the game and then you can't finish or the broken mechanic ruins your game. Secondly, the game is using preset time (game host choses) like 45 minutes for example. Now, everytime it is your turn the timer starts. Even when you are waiting for the animations of previous players to finish. And when the timer ends? The game just kicks you. No voting. No additional time on new generation (round) or anything. You can be like 2 turns from the end of the game, but the game don't care. Just kicks you out as you would forfeit the game. Lastly, the game board is really unclear. You have to click many many many times, just to get the sight of the game context. You want to play card which awards money production per other player tags? Yeah, go away and go player over player and looking at their tags and counting them in your head. Hard to see what is happening beyond your own board. Right now I can't recommend this game. Too often too many bugs! Developer should take some inspiration from Through the Ages board game.
The online game is completely broken. Turn skip, missing resources, Tag not apeAring on playing some card. And the freaking timer; start when your openen end is turn but your timer is on while animation are still playing... DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
The game is incredibly buggy. New content often becomes unplayable, for example, fonts jump off the cards. Along with new DLC, the old ones have been locked, and even if you own them, you can't use them. Bug fixes are very slow. As a board game, it's great. It's only worth considering here if it's heavily discounted. And can I not have solar phase obligatory? Now it cannot be turned off in the options - only the choice of whether you want it with or without Venus.
Unfortunately the game is broken and full of well-known bugs that make your game experience horrible. I don't think it is good idea to support devs who obviously do not care about their own game with your money. There are a lot of other places where you can play Terraforming Mars online like BGA. Hard dislike. P.S. 100 more hours later - yeah this game is such a garbage designed to suck your money because you are fan of the boardgame. Imagine that - it is impossible to like SEE THE LIST OF THE GAMES YOU PLAYED. There is just no such function. Also impossible to see the rank of people that you are playing with. Impossible to know how will you rank up after the ranked game.

This game has had bugs since it was launched, but the current set of bugs is the worst. The game will randomly hang and need to be force quit. Or, the AI will get stuck or it will get into some other buggy state where the only way to resolve it is to exit the game and try to rejoin. That used to work reliably, but for the last 4-5 months it's had a bug where the resuming / reloading of a game hangs. The progress meter during loading will get to somewhere between 95-100% and just sit there, stuck loading. I do not recommend anyone buy this game until these issues are resolved.

Game itself isn't bad however it's really bugged and devs dont really care about it. Can't recommend and it's better to play on GBA!
