About
Build and decorate your tavern, hire staff, stock your larder, meet the locals, be the boss and run the show! Whether you keep a cosy neighbourhood taphouse or a lean, mean gold-minting machine, the choices - and consequences - are yours.

Dozens of intertwined game systems create unpredictable emergent situations. Dirt, heat, noise, flammability, sickness and of course, a parade of colourful customers all keep the unexpected coming.

Today’s situation: Half of your staff are in bed with sleep-sickness. Orders are piling up and patrons’ tempers are getting heated. So is the tavern - because it’s on fire! A spark from a broken lantern landed on just the wrong patch of dirt with no one around to notice. Oops, perhaps it’s time to call the fire brigade...
An expansive narrative campaign lets you build taverns across a vibrant world full of your favourite fantasy cultures. Each new location brings fresh challenges and surprising stories. Meet immortal elementals, outwit halfling philosophers and aid a crazed orc inventor.

I loved Game Dev Tycoon and this seems to be on the right track. Love a lot of things about the game. The animation is colorful and well done. The building is fun and unique, getting to place all the customized decorations and actually benefiting from the work is great. Somethings do need work, IN MY OPINION. The tutorial has some clever jokes but not super helpful, seems to be more focused on its punchlines. My least favorite thing is the game is constantly interrupted with long winded messages. There is a constant stream of pop ups from news scrolls, "storybook" events and customer gifts. I love the full voiced dialogue, the bad jokes from the narrator and the liquid advisor lady. These things are very cool but the volume is overwhelming. Get a message, a nice scroll animation. Storybook event, flashy magic book opening long narrated discussion with dialogue options, presents from customers, mystery pack opening animations. all of these are cool parts of the game but they happen so often. Let me get a few uninterrupted minutes of gameplay in between. I think the UI is a little busy but I am only a few hours in. Also, probably a skill issue but I cannot manage to keep my staff happy without filing chapter 1 bankruptcy.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really loved to play Restaurant City back in the day. This game really reminds me of that, and well this is the upgraded version of that game. It is really unique with the story and ability check roll. And the management system is really fun eventhough I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the challanges. 10/10 it is a must have game for a relaxing game
This game is really fun and silly while still managing to be a challenging experience. That being said, it needs to be optimized or at least let us actually adjust the graphics settings and not just resolution and shadows. My computer can run any AAA graphical extravaganza just fine on high graphics but if I try to speed up the game I start lagging like crazy. Its just a little frustrating because I would like a game thats a bit faster but its a limitation of the software. The only other thing that confuses me is that servers will only take a single patrons order when at a table instead of taking the entire table's order and ferrying things back and forth. Like in a real bar the server's take everyone's orders then get a barback to help them carry food out. I imagine its a balancing thing but again it just struck me as weird that they wouldn't wait on tables or you couldn't assign a dedicated bartender once you get larger. Aside from that the game is great and I really look forward to the game expanding.
Game shouldn't be deck verified, doesn't run well and the control scheme is awful. Piggybacking on the other comment about the gameplay loop being unfun, the story is bad and the game is about decorating a tavern not keeping one. The amount of ♥♥♥♥ they want you to jam into a single small room is uncanny. Do not buy.
I played Game Dev Tycoon back in like 2015 when I still had to ask my mom if she could buy it for me, and I loved it back then as I do today. Now I heard that Greenheart Games released an early access version of a new game. Without thinking about it much, I bought it (this time myself) and started managing my first tavern. I am delighted at the depth the game offers, but not forcing it upon you. I am very interested to see what will follow in the management category. But at the same time, I can just sit back and relax because of the great atmosphere the game offers. Of course, the game isn’t done jet and I encounter bugs from time to time, but I just report them so the game can become better. I reported one bug recently and got an email like 5 minutes later that there is a patch that fixes that issue. To conclude, I think Tavern Keeper is a great game all around, in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. Big recommendation on my part.
The game is so not what it feels when you see the store page. Game keeps pausing and interrupting your playthrough every minute, you be doing one thing and annoying narrator (you can turn the sound off) freezes your game to talk about some annoying stuff and you can't skip it. The books above peoples heads that you click for the story will also freeze your game and take your control when they are about to run out. Then there is also annoying lady that just starts talking from time to time and her whole portrait takes portion of your right part of the screen. On top of that game tutorial is horrible, 90% of my playthrough (even though it was 2h) I spent looking through community posts/guides on how to do something in game, game is so unclear itself. And then when you finally get the hang of it and your tavern starts going smooth game tells you to switch to another tavern and start everything from zero but on another map (and that second map is utterly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). Price of the game is EA type greedy, not worth more than 10€, 15€ out of Early Access maybe. Overall, this is not a cozy tavern managing sim, this is annoying overpriced sim, constant pausing of the game, unclear instructions, they went all out on the story instead of making it enjoyable to play.
Easily one of the best simulators I've played. Perfectly paced and engaging enough to keep you playing for hours. Great Scenarios and writing as well. Way deeper than you think it will be without being overwhelming
I really wanted to like this game but on steam deck it’s a nightmare. I bought the game then got a refund on it and thought I’d rebuy it if it has a steam deck update. I was really excited to see that the day finally came. When I played the game I found myself to have the same frustration playing the as the first time. Where there improvements? Yes, but not enough to consider it steam deck compatible. The controls I feel still need a bit work. Im stuck between wanting a final refund and never looking back or waiting and hoping the controls get better.
