There's just something dull about it. I think at my 3rd encounter, when everyone would attack next round and I had only 1 block, I just felt like naaaaah. I mean it's winnable but the game just feels lacklufster and too simplified.
The time and consideration put in to this is what has been lacking in games

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

My understanding is that the game might get more interesting when you unlock some new classes, as several guides mention the initial (the only available at the start) class being uninteresting and weak meh. But why should I waste who knows how much time with no progress first to get to something potentially interesting? A bad game design is not something I should pay with my time for.
4 years later and I still listen to the games soundtrack on spotify most days
Extremely slow paced. Mind-meltingly boring encounters. The tutorial fight is painfully drawn out. The second fight I got in had a healer enemy that could not be attacked, so nearly all damage I dealt to the other enemy was reversed every turn. Give me back my $4.
One of the best deck building games I've ever played. The soundtrack is incredible.
Amazing art and writing. Multiple classes/archetypes to choose from, berserker being my personal favourite.
Fun game, what it lacks in deckbuilding complexity it makes up for with a compelling story and quality voice acting. More emphasis on the experience than the strategy, but that's not to say there is no strategy. My only complaint is that as you're learning the various NPC's and events you can run into, you can unknowingly make a choice that ruins your entire run instantaneously. For example, I had this item recently that, to be fair, did say "it will either help you or kill you" and I used the item and it killed me instantly, which was kind of funny, but also just ended a strong run that was going to win, just because I was curious enough to find out if they really put an item in the game that would do that. In my most recent run, in the final area, I found a chest with a similar warning and just decided to ignore it because I didn't want to end my run for no reason. Not a huge complaint but it does discourage interacting with the unknown to a certain extent.
