Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.71/day in the week to Sep 7 → 24.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The new Martian Assembly brings an expanded endgame challenge never seen in the original. Shape your Martian society through laws. Balance the needs and demands of your colonists, keep the peace and develop a long-term plan for Mars - up to and including independence from Earth!

Building a thriving colony on a planet not fit for human life brings its own challenges. Construct life-support systems, power grids, domes, and supply chains, and keep them running, because blackouts on a planet without oxygen are never a good idea. And you’re not alone. With the included ‘Space Race’ expansion, rival colonies backed by competing sponsors add even more pressure as you fight for resources and the future of Mars.

Balance critical resources like oxygen, water, power, and food to keep your colony alive. Drones build and maintain your infrastructure, while the revamped ‘Martian Express’ adds trains that move people and supplies across longer distances. Every colonist has their own needs and behaviors and smart management is essential for their survival.

Advance your colony through a deep research system that unlocks new buildings, production methods, and essential upgrades. Discover breakthroughs, resources, and hidden secrets reaching ‘Below & Beyond’ the Martian surface. With randomized maps, varied sponsors, and unpredictable Mysteries, every playthrough offers new challenges, and every decision shapes your story of survival and growth on Mars.

Terraforming is no longer a distant dream, it’s your next challenge. With the included ‘Green Planet’ expansion, you can engineer Mars into a more habitable world. As the environment transforms, introduce animal life with ‘Project Laika’, bringing the first creatures to thrive alongside your colonists. The future of Mars isn’t just survival, it’s building a self-sustaining, living planet.

For new players - This game is fantastic, well worth it if this is your sort of thing. The sour grapes coming from returning players do not apply to you. For returning players - It's your call, there is nothing amazingly new but it is nice to have all the content at a good price. It's a small breath of new life into an old game, and it has never pretended to be more. Getting bitter and cutting it down will only gaurentee the end of the franchise, and if you truly like the game you don;t want that, you want more games like this.
The bad reviews were on launch, but they've spent a lot of time fixing all the bugs. I literally haven't encountered 1 bug. This game runs 10x better than the original, and looks significantly better. U do need to put the brightness at 25% on the slider though, the default is way too high. Amazing game

[olist]

[/olist]

First, if you never played the original, then just get this, it's a good game. Ignore the rest of this review. Second if you're boycotting this because it no longer supports Linux, it does (at the time of writing) work out of the box via Proton. There are one or two minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but none affecting gameplay, and no tweaks needed, just run it normally in Steam. And, uh, switch to windowed mode and back again. Done. Now for the main reason i'm reviewing: if like me you owned the original and were a bit (or maybe a lot) unhappy at having to buy the game you already bought again... Well in summary I paid the full amount for the new version and don't regret it. From my perspective here were all the things wrong with the old version: * no ongoing support * game destroying bugs (i gave up after the second complete colony ending bug) * game-breakingly buggy DLCs * unbalanced pay-to-win DLC buildings * silly llamas and penguins wandering your domes in stead of the puppies you were promised Now as I understand it the game and first few (not game-breakingly buggy) DLCs were originally developed by one developer who for whatever reason moved on. Then another maintainer/developer came along and completely failed to release/maintain non-game-breakingly-buggy DLCs. Below and Beyond was so buggy it was widely recommended simply not to purchase it. Martian Express was barely fit for purpose, and only if your purpose was working at distant out-of-dome buildings. Dome migration before you have shuttles? Haha No. Cargo? Maybe it will work if you micromanage it correctly and what you want happens to be exactly what it does. I don't know if it was decided the game was too difficult to maintain or what, but updates ended, bugs remained, and support evaporated. Now years later we come to this relaunch... which marks the return of the original developer, that is the one who we do know released a good game with working DLCs. With this: * support and bugfixing has resumed * both of the game-destroying bugs i encountered in the original have been fixed * the buggy DLCs are actively being de-bugified and improved * the DLC buildings are still unbalanced... but they're stock now so it's not pay-to-win * and well... the llamas and penguins are still there. I probably wouldn't have bought it if there weren't a mod to remove them. But there is. Just for all this, I really do want to support them in bringing back the original developer and remaking the game. I think it was the right choice. That said, regarding a couple other reviews with valid points... 1) right now (patch 1.0.7) the game really is broken without a bugfix mod for disasters... get it on the workshop. Without it disasters just stop coming after the first meteor shower. I'm a bit unimpressed this hasn't been officially hotfixed. 2) The underground and trains content does still have bugs. Like undeletable train tracks. Well, there's a mod for that too. But more importantly... you can turn them off when starting a game, in the game rules. Neither underground nor trains are all that important, and if you aren't using them turning them off gives a much cleaner tech tree with fewer useless techs. Personally tho i like the asteroids, and don't mind the trains now that they aren't useless. 3) Yeah there are some UI bugs. Yeah they're annoying.
It's pretty much the same game. The same old bugs, reported years ago, are still there: colonists starving for no reason, colonists deciding to walk from one corner of the map to the other to die in the process, terrain shenanigans, etc. The political system, that the studio was bragging about for weeks, is worthless. It brings virtually nothing to the gameplay, you can be an autocracy, a democracy - no colonist is going to care. You just open the policy window after cooldown, enact a yet another law, and move on. Factions, political unrest? Nah, such things are almost non-existent. I hate the fact that I've spent money on this.
1. Der Titel ist etwas ... irreführend. 2. Also ganz typisch Paradox.
Surviving Mars: Relaunched brings the beloved Martian colony-builder back into the spotlight with an overhaul that feels closer to a full re-imagining than a simple update. It modernizes the experience across graphics, gameplay systems, AI, and long-term progression—resulting in the most complete and polished version of the game to date. The biggest change is how Mars itself behaves. Instead of static dust storms and predictable cold snaps, Surviving Mars: Relaunched introduces dynamic planetary systems. Weather fronts move across the landscape, temperatures fluctuate dramatically, and dust accumulates in real time on buildings and vehicles. These changes aren’t cosmetic—they directly affect power grids, oxygen production, maintenance costs, and drone efficiency. New hazards like underground seismic ruptures, electrostatic storms, and localized CO₂ geysers force players to adapt. You can no longer rely on a single perfect layout; survival now requires flexible planning and constant monitoring. Mars finally feels like a hostile, unpredictable world rather than a pretty backdrop. Domes now work more like customizable districts. You can attach specialized modules—shielded habitation clusters, industrial wings, medical hubs, cultural centers—allowing each dome to feel unique and purpose-built. This cuts down on the copy-paste feeling of the original and encourages creative city design. Pipes and power lines can be buried, dramatically reducing visual clutter and making megabase planning more manageable. Maintenance now depends on exposure and usage, pushing you to build redundancies and smart routing networks. The tech tree has been redesigned with new branches focusing on atmosphere manipulation, agricultural genetics, robotics autonomy, and terraforming operations. Research feels more purposeful, with late-game technologies enabling giant leaps in efficiency or survival capability. One of the standout improvements is the colonist AI. Colonists now have morale arcs that develop over time based on working conditions, habitat quality, relationships, and colony stability. Families form, break apart, and influence housing demands. Children raised on Mars gain new traits, creating a multi-generational identity for your colony. Faction influences—corporate, religious, political—introduce subtle tensions that can lead to strikes, protests, or policy shifts. Your colony no longer feels like a collection of stats; it feels like a living community with needs, fears, and expectations. Dust storms have swirling particulate detail, solar panels reflect changing light conditions, and colonist paths create dynamic settlement patterns. Over time, your colony looks worn and lived-in, giving an impressive sense of continuity. The soundtrack also received new ambient tracks that emphasize the loneliness, danger, and beauty of life on the Red Planet. Surviving Mars: Relaunched isn’t just a visual update — it’s a substantial evolution of the game. Almost every system has been upgraded, expanded, or rebalanced to make the experience deeper, smoother, and more immersive. If you enjoyed the original, this version is absolutely worth returning to. If you’re discovering the game for the first time, Surviving Mars: Relaunched is the definitive way to play. Paid twice for one game. Thx Paradox
This game is getting a lot of hate from people who own the original game, and honestly it’s mostly deserved. This review is from the perspective of a new player, who also is waist deep in other Paradox DLC collections. The game did launch with some major issues, but the development team has been responsive and reactive. I’ve been happy with how quickly issues have been resolved, and find the game enjoyable. Plenty of variety for replayability, especially with the government system that I hear was not in the original. Final thought, as someone who’s owned Stellaris since 2016 and has every DLC (yes, all of them), if we had the chance to pay Paradox $40 to get fresh attention on bugs and performance, most of us wouldn’t blink or think twice.
