Videogames that changed my life: 1. Portal (the game that made me a gamer) 2. Celeste (the game that inspired my bachelor's thesis and opened my eyes to some of my mental health problems) 3. Super Mega Baseball 3 But why? I hear you ask. Let me explain: The game is masterfully designed. Every aspect of the gameplay is well crafted, easy to learn, hard to master, intuitive and incredibly juicy. I can't tell how, but the game amazingly conveys the creators' enthusiasm and love for the sport. Is it because of the goofy humour? The attention to detail? In any case: this love is contagious. Where I come from, Baseball is not really a thing. But when some American friends streamed it, they got me interested. Now one of my goals in the future is to take a vacation in the US and watch Baseball in the stadium. Another thing to mention is the team and character editor. While the graphics can be slightly goofy, just like the game's humour, they offer a wide variety of options to be creative. The ability to customise every player down to the shoelaces and then spend entire campaigns with them really made me bond with my first and still favourite team. In fact, this team even inspired me to write down their personal stories in what might be a [strike] fanfiction [/strike] novel one day. Of course just as juicy, goofy and heartfelt as this game and as overly dramatic as this review! Up to today, only a few games in my life were as eye-opening and inspiring as Super Mega Baseball 3.

13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Aug 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

CPU catch-up mechanics are extremely noticeable. If playing in a franchise mode, expect to have multiple things due to "luck" not go your way. Fielding isn't as crisp, hitters tend to foul off every two-strike pitch or get a hit, pitches that are blatantly balls are called strikes, the list goes on. You can drop ego down 10-15 levels and all this stuff still happens if you are leading your division by more then 4 games in franchise mode. In multiplayer, the only issues you have to worry about are the constant connection and frame rate issues. Ever since SMB4 released, it seems the quality of online play against other players has gone down. Issues with pitchers being in their wind-ups and then the pitch already crossing the plate while hitting, pitch location and power being uncontrollable while pitching, balls put into play locked into the pitching screen until play is over, etc.

This game is superb. Hitting and pitching is not too difficult to master, which is what I like. Sometimes I don't want to drop 100 hours in something like MLB The Show to get pretty good. Also the customization is out of this park (pun intended) because it has team customization, which is already better than what you would get from a large developer like EA. However, there's some things that I would personally want to change if there was to ever be a 4th iteration. - Signing players to actual contracts, instead of unknown lengths (since the players can choose to resign from their teams at the end of every season). I would like to keep track of how long I extended people and when they might need extensions, not be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of a player just because they decided "oh i'm just gonna opt out teehee". - Franchise trades. If we can sign and release people, we really need trades in franchise mode. Keep it the same player for player (or pitcher for pitcher) like how it is for sign and release. It allows for more of an interesting regular season, just like how sign and release does. - Rework of power hitting mechanics. Now, the power hitting mechanics on controller are absolutely abysmal. For those who don't already know, you have to flick the right trigger while (i'd assume) you hit A (or X i believe for you Playstation folks) to hit the ball. Please just make it LB or RB. I have small hands, so reaching my thumb to get to the right trigger while trying to hit A is just a mess. Also the negative power (at least for hitting) should be removed, in my personal opinion. I see why it's there for fielding, but hitting is a completely different ballgame. Thank god you don't need power hitting to hit dingers. In closing, this game is really fun and I'm not trying to say you shouldn't buy it by any means. I've had a blast playing this game for the 30-31 hours I've played so far, and I'd recommend anybody new to the SMB series to try it. I just think there's things that could elevate a potential SMB4.
I am coming back to 3 after playing 11 hours of 4. overall i feel this is a better game.
I'm so glad I found this series before EA got it's franchise killing hands on it. I've spent hundreds of hours on my console playing this game, designing team logos and uniforms, creating custom characters and leagues so it was a no brainer when it went on sale for my new PC. If you remember RBI baseball (or any baseball game) from waaaaaaay back and always wished there was stat tracking and what seems like endless customization options, you've found your game. Very highly recommend! Wish the devs would make a hockey game like this!
Ridiculously in-depth team creation game with a fun little baseball minigame attached! All kidding aside, Super Mega Baseball is truly one of the greatest sports video game series ever and a worthy successor to the "Backyard Baseball" CD-rom games from the '90s and early 2000s. I might still consider Out of the Park Baseball the best baseball series on PC, but as far as actual gameplay goes, this one takes the cake. The third entry is a fine place to start if you're new, it's got the most refined gameplay and expanded features. Start a franchise, simulate a season or playoff bracket, design or download all your favorite teams, create your own fictional league with up to 32 teams, it's all up to you! The gameplay mechanics are tight, the customization is as open-ended as it gets and the fun is turned up to the max! SMB3 has the distinct advantage of having the best team creator tool in the series as well, I've really enjoyed creating all kinds of real life and fictional teams in the editor. A lot of the custom assets are not as useful for creating accurate real-life logos, but learning to use shapes and text characters to fit the puzzle can produce some surprising results in just 32 layers. Check out my Steam Guide for this game if you want to see some examples of what I've made. I highly recommend Super Mega Baseball 3 to anybody who loves sports or is curious about baseball in any capacity, it nails that balance between arcade and simulation feel with polish rarely found in non-AAA sports games.
