Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The save system is garbage and totally unexplained, a literal waste of hours of my time.
Sunless Sea is a captivating and atmospheric game that masterfully blends exploration, survival, and narrative-driven adventure into a uniquely dark and poetic experience. Set in the same richly imagined universe as Failbetter Games’ Sunless Skies and Fallen London, the game invites players to captain a steamship across an eerie underground ocean known as the Unterzee. From the outset, Sunless Sea distinguishes itself through its dense writing, immersive worldbuilding, and a haunting soundtrack that perfectly underscores the bleak beauty and perpetual uncertainty of this shadowy seascape. It’s a game that demands patience and curiosity, rewarding players who embrace its slow-burning tension and literary depth. At its core, Sunless Sea is about survival in an unforgiving environment where every journey is fraught with peril. Players must carefully manage resources like fuel, food, and crew sanity while navigating a map filled with mysterious islands, lurking dangers, and inscrutable factions. The tension between risk and reward is constant, as exploration can lead to valuable treasures or deadly encounters with hostile creatures and rival captains. The game’s roguelike elements—such as permadeath and procedural map generation—heighten the stakes, encouraging cautious strategy and thoughtful decision-making. Yet despite these challenges, each voyage is an opportunity to uncover new stories, forge alliances, and piece together the enigmatic lore of the Fallen London universe. What sets Sunless Sea apart from many survival games is its emphasis on narrative choice and consequence. The game’s writing is evocative and often poetic, weaving gothic horror, dark humor, and tragic human drama into every interaction. Whether bartering with enigmatic island dwellers, investigating ancient ruins, or responding to distress calls, players must decide not only how to act but also how to interpret cryptic clues and ambiguous situations. These choices shape the captain’s story and affect relationships with the factions and characters that populate the Unterzee. The branching storylines and multiple endings lend the game a rich replayability, as different decisions unlock new mysteries and reveal more about the world’s unsettling history. The exploration mechanics strike a careful balance between freedom and structure. Navigation is deliberately slow and deliberate, emphasizing the vastness and mystery of the Unterzee. Steamship movement feels weighty and realistic, and the minimalist map encourages players to chart their own course through the darkness. While some may find the pacing slow, this deliberate tempo is integral to the game’s mood, fostering a sense of isolation and vulnerability that few other games capture so well. Combat, though not the primary focus, adds tension and variety, requiring strategic use of limited resources to survive battles against sea monsters and hostile vessels. However, combat encounters can sometimes feel unforgiving or opaque, which may frustrate players seeking more immediate action. Visually, Sunless Sea embraces a moody, painterly art style that complements its narrative tone perfectly. The game’s interface and illustrations evoke a Victorian aesthetic infused with Lovecraftian horror, reinforcing the sense of exploring an alien, dreamlike world. Sound design is another standout aspect, with haunting ambient music and atmospheric effects that immerse players in the eerie silence of the deep sea. The voice acting and narration add layers of personality and emotion, giving life to the many characters and events encountered. While the visuals are not flashy or graphically intense, they suit the game’s literary and atmospheric ambitions beautifully. Despite its many strengths, Sunless Sea can be challenging and occasionally unforgiving, which may deter some players. The combination of slow travel, resource scarcity, and random events creates a steep learning curve that rewards perseverance but can also lead to frustrating failures. The text-heavy storytelling, while a highlight for many, requires a significant time investment and may not appeal to those who prefer more action-oriented gameplay. Additionally, the interface and navigation can feel clunky at times, particularly for newcomers. However, for players willing to immerse themselves fully, these challenges enhance the sense of accomplishment and narrative immersion. In summary, Sunless Sea is a distinctive and deeply rewarding experience that offers a rare blend of survival mechanics, rich storytelling, and atmospheric worldbuilding. Its haunting narrative, immersive setting, and high-stakes exploration make it a standout title for those who appreciate games as literary adventures as much as interactive challenges. While its pacing and difficulty may not suit everyone, the game’s compelling sense of mystery, melancholy, and discovery ensures that each voyage into the Unterzee is an unforgettable journey into the unknown. Soft, creepy music. Intricately done weird and chaotic storylines. Cannibalism. Ships. Giant eyeballs. What's not to like?
Delightful gothic victorian embiance with a pinch of lovecraftian chtonic dread for a spice. Perfect storytelling and just the right amount of piffle that balances perfectly between a relaxing expirience and a tense surviving poute whenever something borderline random happens in the story. Recommend playing if searcing for new experiences and fresh look at the games.

I have yet to find the fun in this game. Every time I resign to trying this game out, I end up running out of food, fuel and money in that order. I don't understand all the positive comments. This is barely a game.
It felt very bad to actualy buy and start a new game and out of the blue so many text (and so boring and full of nosense), mechanics with no tutorial, is like they expect you to start and know wtf you need to do, where to go, or what those 129381023812039 options/buttons do... no... why?? are other games before this one i needed to play or know before??? becasue i was sure this one was the 1st and the sunless skies is the 2nd. I dunno i just got it, why everything expect i know what im doing?.. this gotta be the worst 1st time game i ever played... so much i even try to refund it but since i bought it more than 2 weeks ago i couldnt. Frustrating, messy, slow, boring slog.
Basically just dredge but more fleshed out, if you are fine with reading and putting in some time, this game is most certainly for you. However the game is old, so you may have issues getting it to run for the first time, my issue was that I needed to clear steams cache.
I'm not one for unfair gameplay most of the time, and I find roguelites exhausting generally. But something about this game rubs me so right. The atmosphere and writing, the slow pace, the need to learn every island so you can navigate them just a bit better, get just that bit more loot, the slow slow pace of travelling between islands. The way you can defeat ennemies much stronger then you if you cheesily hang behind them. The strategy of planning out your next route! There's alot I just enjoy. I think this is the kind of game you need to find your rythm with and get to know, it has taken me so many years of playing it on and off, to finally enjoy it properly.
