Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 8 → 2.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you are a first time player for Dead Rising, I do not think you should play this version of the game first. The original Dead Rising is a carefully-crafted experience, where the game achieves a strong push-and-pull between the player and its difficulty. The original has aged very well with this in mind, even if it does have its own issues (the biggest being survivor AI). The remaster includes several modernizations that dilutes the friction that created good tension in the original game. Keep in mind that I played this on the most difficult mode available to me in the base game. Zombies are not only less aggressive, there are overall less of them all over the game, and you can definitively prove this for yourself by comparing the maintenance tunnels between the two. Survivors following you now have on-the-nose gameplay tips they say out loud disguised as dialogue. All Psychopaths are easier to kill, and in several cases, it felt like their AI had been made worse to make them easier to kill. Another issue is the new voice cast. All voice actors have been recasted from the original. While several characters actually sound pretty good (Frank, Jessie, Carlito, Isabela) there are several characters who are just flat out worse than the original (Brad being the worst offender). While I love the environmental design and how the mall feels with the new visuals (especially at night/early in the morning), there's so much I find wrong with this remaster I just can't recommend it except at a deep discount, and only if you've played the original. My other outstanding issues are the significant amounts of censorship present. Censored character designs, censored dialogue, an entire category of photography removed, all of which are unacceptable. Games as a form of art have a uniquely disgusting remake culture, but when that begins encroaching on censorship for the sake of catering to the whims of an imaginary modern audience, it can no longer be ignored. Go buy the original. It's not that bad. I promise.

13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
A Perfect Example of Gameplay First Design

Capcom and their Gameplay Philosophy
I love how gameplay focused Capcom games are. Such a great developer with many IPs, all with completely different gameplay styles. I mean look at their biggest IPs: Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Dragons Dogma, Dead Rising, Onimusha, Kunitsu Gami, and many more. They are all gameplay focused games with deep systems and mechanics, and they all push story to the background. This is something I prefer in games, even though I do love a good story. You cannot deny that level of variation in gameplay across so many genres. Capcom really is one of the GOATs.
First Time with Dead Rising
As for Dead Rising, I had never played it before. I owned an Xbox 360 when I was a kid, but I had never even heard of it at the time. Now that this remaster has come out, it felt like the perfect time to get into it about a year ago. I pre ordered it, but it ran like ♥♥♥♥ on my aged system, so I refunded it. Now, after being able to run it properly, I purchased it again at a discount.
Performance and Visuals
It runs flawlessly now, but that does not change the fact that the optimization is really bad. I would not trust it on entry level systems. The game looks way better than the original, especially indoors. The lighting and textures look really good, but there is a disturbing blur at mid to long distances.
Setting and Game Design
Being a photographer trapped in a fully explorable mall filled with zombies is a really original concept, and bravo for that. You do not see ideas like this very often in games. Why do most games take place in the wilderness? Because it is easier to create the world and assets that way. Creating a city is far more difficult than placing a dozen trees and bushes to form a forest. Doing this in a mall, with countless different types of stores and an insane amount of varied props to model, is a brave and bold choice.
Interactivity and Fun
What makes Dead Rising amazing is that not only can you interact with almost every item you find in the mall, but you can also use them to kill zombies. It feels like a huge toy box, and it is incredibly fun. A truly unique and well made game with crazy attention to detail. This game is truly god awful, they put a lot of effort into censoring everything unique about the original, but not much else works. Play the original.
I'll probably finish my playthrough and go back to playing the original never touching this again. If I hadn't bought it as a steam key, I would have refunded before the 2 hours were up. This 'remaster' might have more advanced graphics and some minor improvements to the controls and survivor AI, but other than those things, it is just a straight downgrade. The colorful art style of the original? Gone. The satisfyingly excessive blood splatters? Gone. The powerful weapons that rewarded you for map knowledge? Rebalanced to be barely any better than anything else. Zombies grab way more often, with unavoidable target lock, which makes smart movement way less rewarding. And the grab escapes are way less effective for crowd clearance, in addition to being impossible to activate before you have taken damage. You level up way too fast, which makes NG+ and non-story runs feel pretty redundant. Made worse by overly forgiving auto-saves that mean you have basically no reason to ever accept a survivor death instead of just loading. This isn't like the RE4 Remake situation where the differences are subjective matters of taste. So many things that made the original great are just objectively worse in this version. If you already own the original, save your money and don't buy this. If you don't own the original, buy that instead. It costs less than a quarter of what this costs, and it is a better game. In fact, you can get DR1, DR2 and DR2:OTR as a bundle that still costs less than this. Don't let the shiny new graphics trick you into paying more for an inferior version of a classic.
The honest truth about this remaster is it's mostly middling compared to the likes of the Resident Evil remakes, barring Resident Evil 3 remake, and lackluster to the original with cutting of some parts of the game and the dodgy performance. However, the biggest problem is Capcom's usage of Enigma, a drm specifically used on selected titles and older games being released onto Steam. Enigma is being used as a cheaper alternative to Denuvo and prevents directly altering the game files, unlike Denuvo which is used primarily for anti-piracy and has it's own controversies. Capcom has shown a somewhat hostile attitude towards modding in the past with Resident Evil 4 remake and such, but most likely reason of using Enigma is to save cost from having to pay for using the Denuvo software and license renewal. Engima hurt performance of the game and prevents modding, which isn't in most cases being malicious or creating adult content unlike what Capcom would seems to believe. Also I understand this is too long, didn't read, so the main point is the game is rather unremarkable and uses the controversial Engima.
Way too easy, obvious censorship, worse voice acting, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI upscaled textures, broken mirrors, missing gore, missing effects, missing animations, disproportionate models, the list goes on. Don't be a pu$$y and just play the original.
I'm kind of mixed on this game. Base vanilla it feels more like a side grade from the original, better controls, better graphics but censored with a worse voice cast in general with the difficulty made way too easy. HOWEVER, with mods this easily becomes the definite Dead Rising Experience. A better younger Frank West model, the original PP balance restored from the OG xbox 360 release, zombies no longer being on idle and aggroing more along with a custom hard core difficulty. Don't get this game on consoles, PLEASE get it on PC so that you have access to all the QOL and game changing mods. Pick it up on sale and you will have a great time with it.
Two simple words describe why this remaster is not good: Zombie Grabs. No matter what you are doing or how soon since the last time you were grabbed, you will be locked into a quick time event by a zombie and have your entire flow of gameplay ruined. No longer can you swing a katana and be a badass chopping through zombies, because one will instantly grab you and pull you out of your expierence, time and time again. Its really ruins the game overall, because now you're encouraged to just use ranged attacks, in a game where originally, you were encouraged to get into the thick of it. Now, its a chore to play, just constantly getting grabbed all the time, without end, its annoying. Do no buy.
actually dont play this piece of ♥♥♥♥, play the original i have never seen a remaster be this much worse than the original. -fixed almost none of the bugs -zombies lunge from way farther and lock on -psychopaths arent even close to hard with reduced HP -survivor AI is still complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cash grab dont play it dont buy it dont recomend it
I played the ♥♥♥♥ out of the original back in the day. So you bet I bought this the moment I saw it. But the voice acting is awful and the art style doesn't look coherent. Like, no two objects look like they exist in the same world as eachother. Overall, very disappointing
