About
Get ready to explore, discover and interact with a multitude of species as you journey among the stars. Forge a galactic empire by sending out science ships to survey and explore, while construction ships build stations around newly discovered planets. Discover buried treasures and galactic wonders as you spin a direction for your society, creating limitations and evolutions for your explorers. Alliances will form and wars will be declared.
Like all our Grand Strategy games, the adventure evolves with time. Because free updates are a part of any active Paradox game, you can continue to grow and expand your empire with new technologies and capabilities. What will you find beyond the stars? Only you can answer that.
Stellaris now includes the base game, three expansion packs, and a collection of digital goods.
Stellaris: Chart a vast, procedurally generated galaxy where every star system holds a new mystery to uncover or an alien civilization to encounter. Forge a unique empire: from your first warp jump to galactic domination, you decide whether the universe remembers you as a benevolent pioneer or a relentless conqueror.
Utopia: Unlock the full potential of your empire with this expansion focused on the evolution of society. Whether you're building mega-structures or ascending to a higher plane of existence, Utopia helps you create a future that’s as bright as the stars themselves.
Synthetic Dawn Story Pack: Take command of a Machine Empire and reshape the galaxy in your own image. Will you lead your mechanical creations to peaceful coexistence, or will the rise of synthetic life spell the end for organics?
Humanoids Species Pack: the most-played phenotype now gains more variety with unique civics and a new origin. Along with their own unique ship class, new portraits, and more, there’s never been a better time to explore the future of humanity.
And on top of this, the Digital Collector’s Book, a Signed Wallpaper, a Unique Forum Avatar and Icon!
Every game begins with a civilization that has just discovered the means to travel between stars and is ready to explore the galaxy. Have your science ships survey and explore anomalies, leading you into a myriad of quests, introducing strange worlds with even stranger stories and discoveries that may completely change your outcome.
With characteristically complex unique planets and celestial bodies, you will enter a whirlwind of spectacles in a highly detailed universe.
Through customization and procedural generation, you will encounter infinitely varied races. Choose positive or negative traits, specific ideologies, limitations, evolutions or anything you can imagine. Interact with others through the advanced diplomacy system. Diplomacy is key in a proper grand strategy adventure. Adjust your strategy to your situation through negotiation and skill.
An eternal cycle of war, diplomacy, suspicions and alliances await you. Defend or attack with fully customizable war fleets, where adaptation is the key to victory. Choose from an array of complex technologies when designing and customizing your ships with the complex ship designer. You have a multitude of capabilities to choose from to meet the unknown quests that await.
Grow and expand your empire with thousands of randomly generated planet types, galaxies, quests and monsters lurking in space.
Customize your Empire! The characters you choose, be it a murderous mushroom society or an engineering reptile race, can be customized with traits like ethics, type of technology, form of preferred space travel, type of habitat, philosophies and more. The direction of the game is based on your choices.

Was one of my favourite games, until devs decided to change the naval capacity and the ship upkeeps, "for performance". Now, when you're supposed to play a GALACTIC EMPIRE, you command fleets of 4 ships, going to war with your neighbours, who have fleets of 4 ships too. You can technically have more, but a single battleship has more upkeep costs than a WHOLE GALACTIC SECTOR. Space "battles" now look like a road rage involving 2 cars and a Karen, when they used to be epic with hundreds of ships fighting. Star Wars Episode 6's Death Star II Battle with Stellaris 4.3 naval economy would have involved 1 X-Wing, 1 Y-Wing, fighting against 3 TIE Fighters. And that's it. Final battle right here guys. Most ridiculous decision award goes tooooo... Stellaris devs! YAY!
This is the best space strategy game out there. Bought this game at release and it just keeps getting better.

I used to love this game but unfortunately, the devs have resorted to using AI slop. Even before that, they made alot of weird decisions with this game and kept reworking core gameplay features seemingly every year, usually for the worse and making it more bland or too rigid, giving it less customizable playstyles, experiences or roleplay which was the main draw for me that made me overlook it's flaws initially. The overpriced DLC spam also feels like an actual scam. Do not support these devs or this game, it's not worth your money.
I actually would recommend the game it's really good, but paradox's newer DLC expansions use generative AI so like nah
Downvoting for the aggressively greedy DLC practises. Downvoting for the menu screen DLC advertisements. Downvoting for the FOMO race creation screen DLC advertisements. Finally, downvoting for filling the game with AI slop - from "generating ideas" to generating assets, to the voice work. Lazy garbage. Lazy -expensive- garbage.
I am at the point where i cant recommend this, it was fun, real fun, but the blatant greed, horrible ai, bad mechanics and devs who seemingly want to pump out more dlcs rather than fix existing ones, and with dlcs that SHOULD be in the base game but just exist to feed the greed of paradox costing a total of like 375 bucks. its just not worth it
With Stellaris now showing that it is using generative AI in it's development for the core game and DLC, I can no longer recommend this title. AI steals from other people from all levels of talent and it's data centres use costly amount of resources, damages nature and people living nearby. I will not tolerate this in my hobby and will cut other titles that use AI.
Unfortunately, because of the constant updating that breaks mods, along with the AI-generated DLCs and AI code, Stellaris used to be good but has become absolute trash, sadly. Multiplayer is just completely broken it just keeps desyncing and cant even play modded multiplayer.
Time passes, paid DLCs are churned out, systems are reworked into being completely foreign, content is left in a broken and bugged state in favor of the next cash grab. I adored this game when I started and I hardly even recognize it now. I genuinely wish I could recommend it, in the past I would have even, but now I really can't say enough that you should stay away, and be wary of the general Paradox profit model.
stellaris is a cash cow that's threatening to burst. i've reached a point where i can't recommend this to anyone. tldr; Paradox gave us something that was really good for a while and then bogged it down with incomplete releases at high prices for downloadable content that should have been in the base game. look, i LOVED this game. i played so much of it nonstop for hours and hours and hours- hours spent mainly in single player with a handful of private lobbies as well. it was fun, plain and simple; immersive, vast, and full of unknowns and with so, so much replayability. but if you look at it nowadays, there are DLCs left, right, and center with season passes for future releases, AND subscription services for if you don't want to spend, as of the time writing this, $375 USD to own your own copies of. don't get me wrong, a majority of the DLCs' added some really fun stuff that, in my opinion, should have been in the base game already, but instead of pushing it out as a patch, it's just another chance to milk consumers dry. so why is it that Paradox can't be bothered to finish their products before release date just to sell it to us at ridiculous prices for what's less than the bare minimum? the rampant greed lives on as a significant problem that's additionally punctuated by Paradox using gen AI on multiple assets and content. Paradox is a significant studio full of many talented people. why are things being relegated to AI at all? there are people that can be paid to do better work with better longevity, but that's what feeds back into the overall greed of the company. AI doesn't need to be paid. Paradox isn't footing the bills for the data centers (which is a whole other issue of ethics that isn't the topic here). if Paradox cannot be assed to make their own games, then i cannot be assed to purchase any of their products.
