This is one of my favorite indie games of all time. There are no upgrades or anything to help you when you fail, you just have to get good to surpass every random obstacle the game throws at you. It's infinitely replayable thanks to the randomness of each run, yet has a high skill ceiling. I won't ever get tired of this game.
what else is there to say? It's the best one of its subgenre and refined the formula so well that it kicked off a decade+ of similar games.
Not meant to be purchased, but instead played for free on the Xbox 360 arcade
A 2D action roguelite game, where the objective is basically to survive all the traps and monsters the game throws at you. Very tough at first, but once you get the swing of things and thread more carefully, very fun to master. I used to play the original back in the day, and while still fun, it didn't hook me as much as this one did. The very tight and responsive controls, The great visuals and music, and the very addicting gameplay with a diverse gameplay loop, makes this a complete package. One of, if the the best roguelite I have ever played. The devs tried to improve on perfection with the sequel, and although still a decent game, it doesn't even come close. Very highly recommended.
There are only two types of Spelunky reviews Those with less than 10 hours, and those with well over 100 Highly recommend using a gamepad if you have one, and a spare piece of drywall to punch holes into
Genuinely one of the best Rogue-Likes and one of the best platformers I've ever played. Considering the impact Spelunky has had on the genre and Indie games, I'd recommend this to anybody who considers themselves a fan of Rogue-Likes, It's a must have game in my opinion. Spelunky mainly consists of 16 short stages in 4 zones that are procedurally generated; these zones include the Mines, Jungle, Ice Caves, and the Temple. Despite the little time taken to beat each stage individually, it is counter-balanced by being incredibly difficult with nearly everything being able to instantly kill you if you so much as blink the wrong way. Spelunky makes you adopt a playstyle of fast thinking, and being able to identify and deal with threats on the fly, with near perfect skill as any and all mistakes WILL end up with you going back to the beginning of the stage. (As in typical Rogue-Like fashion, dying means you go back to the start). You have equipment to help your struggles go by a little easier; bombs and ropes for example let you destroy walls and reach higher places you otherwise wouldn't be able to go, and you are given 4 of each to start with, requiring you to use them as sparingly as possible since you can Soft-Lock yourself if you aren't careful. And while you CAN acquire more as your playthrough goes on, you aren't guaranteed it. You also get other tools such as pickaxes, machetes, SHOTGUN!!!, and equipment such as stomping boots, jump boots, glue (to make bombs sticky), climbing gloves, etc. But as stated before, you are not guaranteed these items, so while some runs may have you running with every piece of equipment possible, more often than not, you will only have a couple on you. You can get most of these items via boxes found across stages or Shopkeepers who will sell you them (♥♥♥♥ the shopkeepers), some enemies will also drop certain items upon death, (Big spiders drop glue, Mother bees will drop health, etc), so take those opportunities to kill those enemies when you can since it can save money. There's a lot more to Spelunky but I feel it's better to experience it blind. The game goes on sale often so I would wait for a sale.
Sürekli ölüyorsunuz ama oyun harbi rogue-like olduğu için hiçbir ilerleme kaydedemiyorsunuz :D İkinci bölüme geçemedim gereksiz derecede zor bir oyun. I'm too old for this ♥♥♥♥.
