Risk of Rain is an action platformer with roguelike elements. With permanent death as a primary feature, players will have to play their best to get as far as possible. Fight on a mysterious planet with randomly spawning enemies and bosses, either alone or with 3 friends in online co-op.

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 21 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Updated Review for 2025
As if Gearbox couldn't keep making worse decisions, here we go again with the updated EULA and TOS. Making it bannable to mod your game is one of the most disconnected decisions a publishing and development studio can make. On top of that, the content being produced is substandard and nowhere comparable to Hopoo's total ownership of the game. This game WAS produced with love and care, but NOW is managed by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ company whose only goal is to suck and drain the community out of every nickle and dime of a once beloved game series. What a fall from grace Risk of Rain has become. ♥♥♥♥ Gearbox.
HOW DARE YOU LOCK ME OUT OF A 12 YEAR OLD GAME BY UPDATED THE EULA TO ADD PREDATORY SPYWARE TERMS! Take-Two needs to keep their slimey hands off these games, ruining it by forcing eula so now i cant even play it. first you ruin borderlands and now this? worst company i will actively avoid any game by gearbox or take-two, thanks hopoo for selling out your players for some quick easy cash, i will never support yall either. i want a REFUND for all these games that have been basically locked out cause im not and shouldnt be forced to agree to these predatory TOS that where suggested AFTER i already owned the game! this should NOT be legal

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 10: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

RIP Risk of Rain! It was fun while it lasted! Take-Two and 2K games have updated all their games Terms of Service, turning this game as well as all of their other games into literal spyware.
EDIT AS OF 2/28/2025: You are forced to agree to a new EULA and forced into arbitration in order to play the game while connected to the internet. Review changed to Negative. This review harvesting is getting excessive, and they're planning on banning people who discuss glitches and cheats in a PvE, campaign-driven video game.

Negative review for Eula update. Just a reminder that there's nothing wrong with playing a game you purchased via other methods. You have no duty to agree to the Eula.
Risk of Rain is the granddaddy of Megabonk. Put some respect on its name.

I don't know why I'm surprised that the insane outrage mob found its way to a barely known indie game, but... I am. If you see reviews around this time, you'll be seeing fear-mongering about getting banned for using mods and all this talk about how you're being spied on. The reason for this is a EULA passed down by the publisher, that goes on every game they are involved with (To be clear... this was written for modern multiplayer games). I don't even think Risk of Rain has a method of banning people. Risk of Rain is not spying on you. Use your heads. And to give an actual review, unlike all the ones I'm referencing: The game is good. It's a simple, easy to learn rogue-lite, with a surprisingly large amount of content. The playable characters are all very unique and have interesting attacks and movement options.
Risk of Rain might be a good game, but not being able to play this game with a controller properly is an unacceptable design flaw. You can move the pointer by controller and navigate through the menu that way, but that's about it. The same goes for the Steam Deck. I could put in some effort and rebind every single key, but I rather go and play Dead Cells instead.
