Serious Sam 4 — мясной тестостероновый шутер с примитивным геймплеем прямиком из нулевых, но в обёртке из современных текстур. И ему этого на самом деле достаточно. Ибо кто сказал что в шутерах обязательно должны быть глубокие механики, комплексные уровни и оригинальные сюжеты. Иногда просто хочется взять в каждую руку по минигану и перемолоть толпу врагов в кучу кровавых соплей. И Серьёзный Сэм это прекрасно позволяет. Правда, лишь на сложности «Турист». Очевидно, каноничной сложности по лору игры, потому что для Серьёзного Сэма инопланетное вторжение — это не более чем прогулка. А так уже со средней сложности баланс количества патронов к здоровью врагов становится не в пользу тупой и весёлой мясорубки. Тупая мясорубка то остаётся, но превращается в весьма душное ковыряние толп противников пистолетом и ножом, потому что патроны ко всему остальному закончились, постоянно при этом помирая и боясь продвинуться дальше, чтобы не стригерить новую толпу противников в дополнение к ещё недобитым. В остальном игру отлично характеризует фраза «так плохо, что даже хорошо». С примитивной концепцией толп врагов уже всё понятно, но и без неё прям чувствуется, что собрана игра «на коленке». Модельки второстепенных персонажей страшные. Анимации это полный трындец, что добиваний, что лицевые, что движения в катсценах. Левелдизайн кривой, довольно безынтересный и предлагает огромные, но пустые просторы. Графика хоть яркая и текстурки в высоком разрешении, но тоже выглядит всё пресно и безынтересно. Оптимизация хромает. Даже оригинальная озвучка местами кажется что записана в подъезде на пердящий микрофон. Но главное, что в этом плохо стрелять хорошо. Все пушки приятные и выбор их дают не маленький. Противники тоже радуют разнообразием паттернов и габаритов. До кучи Сэм то и дело травит всякие каламбуры и ванлайнеры, хотя в целом юмор здесь плоский, да и перевод его посредственный. Есть бодрый саундтрек, но плохо, что он бывает скачет из спокойного в боевой вариант из-за неравномерно расставленных ботов. И играть всё это можно в коопе.

Serious Sam in its finest ! I have enjoyed every single Serious Sam game, especially 1st & 2nd encounter. This one is more a comeback to the golden age of Sam from 1st/2nd encounter - still humorous but less "silly" than SS 2. Although I love SS2 for its unique approach - it is a great game and one of my favorites, but I have to admit that the current approach fits Sam just better ;) It is what Serious Sam was always about - taking hundreds of enemies with a style :D Weapons feel and behave as they should. Visual apearence is really good. Music it is just GREAT - taking You into battle trance :) - mostly remixes of old SS tunes ;) Enjoyed every single level and will comeback to this game often! So I definitely recommend SS4 !!
