About

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.

Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.

Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement.

Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.

Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.

There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.

Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

Reviews
played this before on xbox I bought it on steam just to review it. Its a fantastic game! The story so great!!!
Ending is good, story is meh/bad, development of the mc/villians in the game is lacking, gameplay is alright but relics ruin the feel of the game (Some of the relics available should really only be available post game), post game is really not so good... but the DLC is more of the same, due to the mechanics some of the combat feels... Main Game: 7/10 DLC: 7.5/10

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Sea of stars has fantastic art and music, but terrible characters and story. I wish I could give this game a mixed rating instead.
Lovely game. Great soundtracks and art. I played it super casual and it was just right.
What a huge game, so many graphics, an insane amount of work has gone into making this. There are a few minor flaws - the "lock" thing in combat could have been really interesting but instead 80% of the time there's not enough turns [or the wrong characters still have actions] to break a lock, and most of the time even when you *can* break it you're better off ignoring it and finishing off another guy with those turns. It would be better if you could see what move is coming after the lock, so you could tell whether it's one of the rare occasions where it's worth breaking it. The only time it *might have been* important in my playthrough was the final boss - I broke them quite a lot there so I can't tell if *not* breaking them would have been bad, or just the same as every other time. There's a weird thing with food items that restore mana being quite expensive, but mana restores itself when you do ordinary actions so they're also useless - the only way the food items for this would make sense is if it didn't consume a turn to use a mana-only restore item, because then they'd be useful when you need a skill to break a lock but don't have the mana for it. (Again, if locks were actually important!) As-is, if you're in that situation and use a mana item, it consumes the turn so you're too late to break the lock anyway. The late-game combat gets pretty tiresome, just the vast amount of damage you have to do to finish a boss. And then my weirdest complaint, there is too much game! It wore out its welcome. It was fun for 20 hours, but only *okay* for another 10 after that. It kept feeling like it was about to be a final boss and then bam, nope, here's another "the entire game you've played so far" again! Obviously this complaint isn't really serious, it's good value for the game to keep going, and it's not like it was just "backtrack and do things again", there was more story, more new areas, more new monsters, more quests. The unlocking of faster travel methods is reasonably paced. I didn't have to do any intentional grinding to finish the game on normal difficulty with none of the initial "make it easier" relics activated. The "relics" are a bit weird - you can buy e.g. a relic that makes it so you get experience faster, and when you buy it it's deactivated, and gets grouped in with the "it's kind of cheating to use this" relics you start the game with, so it feels like the game disapproves of you using it, but if it's cheating why did I have to buy it? Not really sure what the devs intent was with that. I went with "if I had to buy it then it's not easy-mode to use it," and I certainly wouldn't want to have been getting experience slower and thereby encouraged to do boring grinding! The puzzles are interesting enough. The "direction" of the story is linear for a long time, but does open up towards the end. The graphics are really nice, and there's *so much*. Extra bonkers that there's cutscenes with full TV-show quality animation. The music varies enough to not be annoying. Overall, better than most Final Fantasy games.
Colorful pixel art mixed with a dynamic lighting system is a combo that definitely works and makes the first impressions with this game quite stunning. RPG fans will also feel the Chrono Trigger DNA that permeates every facet of this game, helping it hook its claws into you. The combat system is probably the part I enjoyed the most: Sea of Stars quietly solves several of my gripes with JRPGs. Characters all level up together, eliminating any anxiety about falling behind. Timed hits à la Mario & Luigi keep you actively engaged through every exchange. The MP system effortlessly incentivizes using magic attacks (aka the fun ones) through a mana bar that regenerates through normal attacks. Boring melee attacks with a full mana bar are effectively a waste, so you're constantly encouraged to use your skills, avoiding any possible hoarding tendencies. The world design, unfortunately, I found pretty lackluster. Areas feel more like a themed level selection screen than a coherent world, traversal inside those levels is tedious and repetitive, peppered with puzzles so simple they feel more like interruptions than challenges. And as the hours stack up, the combat animations start cycling noticeably, which compounds the fatigue, the level "design" grinds on your patience making the whole thing a slog. The story is a fairly classic setup with a couple of twists and a decent enough lore backdrop. Serviceable, but not much more. The real problem lies in the characters: two appalling, bland, cardboard cutout protagonists, an annoying, overeager childhood friend who is treated as Jesus-on-Earth by everybody, and a few not totally forgettable extras. This nothingburger of a cast drains the life out of everything that happens around them. In a genre where characters and narrative are the whole point this can easily become a dealbreaker. Mechanically, Sea of Stars is a competent and occasionally inspired RPG. As an actual RPG, it falls frustratingly short in so many ways.
Sea of Stars верна традициям жанра JRPG.
