Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.

Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.

Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement.

Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.

Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.

There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.

Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

I'm about 16 hours in, and I just... don't see the point of finishing this. The mechanics are ok (though the timing system is pretty damn bad), but there's really nothing interesting about the game, the characters, or the story. Maybe I'll grind the rest of it out, I don't know.

I HATE JRPGs.... but I freakin' love this game. Action commands. No grinding necessary. Killer presentation and soundtrack. Just incredibly solid, through and through.
I disagree with the negative reviews. I think the issue is that a lot of people had too high expectations. From what I learned, having high expectations that is ALWAYS going to make the game a disappointment. That’s what made me so disappointed in Chrono Trigger ironically enough. I will admit I have not finished the story as of now but I will say this: I love the combat and the characters. The combat is no joke and you can easily lose if you do not strategize well enough. That, to me, is what makes winning these battles so rewarding. There have been many times I just NARROWLY escaped losing a battle. It’s exhilarating, and easily what I love the most about this game. Admittedly, I’m one of those people that cares more about the gameplay than the story. But so far? I like it. It’s nothing crazy, nothing like say, Xenoblade Chronicles (my favorite rpg of all time), but there are definitely some moments that keep me interested in how things are going to end up. Overall, I’m having fun. And that’s all that matters to me.
Sea of stars is a very cool game. The characters are very charismatic and fun to see grow (especially Garl) The artstyle is beautiful, especially the animated cutscenes and the giant structures in the background. The story is what you would expect from an RPG, choosen heroes save the world but it does have some interesting differences like Garl being a powerless human and still helping (can you tell I liked Garl?) or the way it talks about choosen heroes that didn't want to be choosen heroes. The combat is interesting using times hits to make turn based combat more exciting. Lastly the puzzles and little "enigmas" of the game were something that I really liked, the solistice shrines, the way you unlock some extra content. Overall cool game, you might think it will end soon but it won't and then when it ends there's actually more to do.

Seus maiores destaques são a pixel art belíssima, trilha sonora, exploração divertida e combate interativo, que exige timing nos ataques e estratégia para interromper golpes inimigos. A história é boa e possui momentos emocionantes, com personagens secundários como Garl se destacando bastante. Em contrapartida, a narrativa às vezes é simples, e o combate pode ficar um pouco repetitivo pela quantidade limitada de habilidades. Pontos fortes: visual, música, exploração e combate. Pontos fracos: progressão simples e certa repetição.
Arte linda, áudio incrível e gameplay que, de certa forma, tem um ótimo ritmo. Um jogo simplesmente excelente.
