For whatever reason, I thought the spiders were only in Leon's playthrough. They are not. The game, for me, ends in the sewers. (there is a mod that is supposed to remove them, but it seems to only work for the original PC release)

## What I Liked - A vast improvement in terms of tension over the original game. - Interlocking puzzles throughout the game keeps you exploring and unlocking new things. - The two character story provides the perfect run time. ## What I Didn't Like - It's hard to know in advance what is pointless and what will be necessary. It forces you to horde ammo/weapons. - I despise a couple of the boss battles, they just go on a bit too long. ## Gameplay An excellent addition to the formula the first game established and adds quite a bit of the things that would define the series. The tension is just so high in this game as resources are scarce (till they very much aren't in the late game), you have limited saves, and the enemies are deadly. It doesn't translate as the most difficulty game in the series, but it has all the things you love that will keep you engaged. The core story you experience through both characters eyes is well told and it's probably the most influential on the tone the series want's to hit after this. It does have tank controls, but honestly, at the point that you are playing through the series again, they kind of make sense with the fixed perspective. ## Graphics & Sound For it's time, I love everything they did with the game. I played most of it with the Mulderland Enhancement Pack (highly recommended) and for a one-click install, the HD textures are beautiful. I think you are probably going to know if this type of graphic will work for you, so I will leave it at that. Sound as always in these games is the best part, they have a lot of ambient tracks that do more to establish the tone of each room than you are actually seeing. The police station feels like it is under siege by zombies despite you not seeing them most of the time due to that ambience. ## Would I Recommend It? Yes! Great for fans of the series that want to see where it came from and for people who want to experience a bit more of a retro survival horror classic. ### Who Should Skip It People who dislike tank controls, can't immerse themselves in a bit older experience, and for those looking to have their hand held the whole time. ## PC Spec CPU: i7-14700K Memory: 32GB Video Card: RTX 3080 Storage Type: NVMe Monitor resolution: 5120x1440 Mods Used: Mulderland Enhancement Pack

Simply iconic. I can only recommend anyone who enjoyed the remake to also try and play the original. It's a masterpiece.

I loved the remake when I played it, but holy crap it's impressive a game from 1998 holds up this well. I think there still are ways I prefere the Remake the OG is definetly worth playing for any fan of the series. (I do think that the A B system is just as good as the second run system.)
