Game keeps crashing. After dozens of bad updates, they finally made one that crashes before you can redeploy into action.

Old but gold. Just a warning for new players: the veterans will "farm you" to no end if you don't look out for guides on YouTube, since the in-game tutorial, while it will teach you the basics, won't give you much direction. You need to know exactly where your early progression points need to be allocated, otherwise the grind might be too much. This game does what no other has: it puts players in gigantic servers with thousands of players per continent and lets them loose to capture any facility they can, with many classes and tools to do so. It does this in a three-faction war, which keeps the conflict more chaotic and less predictable. You can build bases of your own outside of larger complexes to defend chokepoints or provide your outfit (think of a guild inside your faction) with vehicles and a forward spawn. The gunplay is also some of the best I have experienced. It has some of the longest time-to-kill in an FPS (the time it takes to shoot someone to kill their character), so things like lag and "spraying and praying" aiming become less of a factor. Instead, recoil control and engagement awareness become crucial skills. The game is free to play, but I would say it is a subscription game with an extensive free trial. For $15 per month, I think it is rather expensive, even if they reward you handsomely in-game for it. It has those aggressively priced cosmetics from the early 2010s, but cosmetics are not that important (except the pink camo; the pink camo is evil and should have been removed 10 years ago). The grind with a free account is quite severe; you could be grinding for years to unlock everything (not that you would want to do that, trust me). But if you pay for the subscription, it's okay. It gives you enough time to get to know each weapon or vehicle before you start to unlock its customizations and want to try something new. There are many issues that can't be properly addressed; the custom engine it works on is dated, and it shows. There is no shortage of frustrations you can have with the game, but these come when you realize just how close this game has come to greatness but just couldn't quite grasp it. And still, no other game lets you fight in a non-procedural huge map that would make any other combined-arms FPS "crap their pants," featuring infantry, land, and air vehicles. Where snipers get the proper range to test their skills. Where shotguns can have more than 5 meters of accurate engagement distance. Where a group of players building a base in the most annoying mountain gets pummeled by another group with an orbital strike, and those players get revenge by organizing a vehicle spearhead incursion in enemy territory. And all of this with literal HUNDREDS of players doing so. The game has its issues, but there is nothing else that brings you the same experiences Planetside 2 will.
Can't get past the mandatory tutorial due to crashes. Ran fine in the past for me. Thought to revisit but I guess not. After a quick search it is very common and still ongoing. Too bad
I wish i could play this and enjoy it the way it was made to be played. Giant battles with multiple fronts. I havent played in a year and a half really, except for a quick login in to check pops but it is always in single lane mode. I really hope the people that bought the ip are working on planetside 3. In the meantime it would be cool if planetside 2 could get 1 last hurrah in player pop like star wars battlefront 2 did years after its release. It is a really cool game with a TON of content for new players to unlock, but no one knows it even exists.
WAY too many sus players, definitely plagued with hackers, "c" and "r" botters and hackers. everything you'd expect from a free to play / PAY TO WIN game. nothing redeeming about this game, after 800+ hours. its barely held together by tape and DayBreak cash. every element of the actual gameplay is unrewarding and stressful. Gunfights feel completely lopsided, unless you're playing with any aim Bot or assist, you will lose every attempt at actually playing the game you cannot hide, no matter the class spec or circumstance you will be found and you will be eliminated immediately no matter where or what you're doing, UNLESS you are 500+ meters away looking for nothing that exists because the hackers and bots cant see you. vehicle combat its mediocre at best, the sweats and lvl 50+ will just farm you in to infinity, it takes way to long, and I mean YEARS not months to unlock everything. and you will be outmatched for months to years, which is the most unrewarding gameplay I've ever experienced. Well unless you use DayBreak cash, and pay literal THOUSANDS to unlock everything you will play unrewarded for maybe 3-5 years. This is sellout PTW garbage, hackers go un punished, botters go un punished, and they will take your money for skins and armor that don't do anything, because no matter where you go the "c" and "r" will find you and ruin your gameplay.
Load up, Get in game, Join a squad, press insert, land, Fire my gun... Game crashes. gg.
There are not a lot of players like there used to be back when only 3 continents existed. They had to add new continents to contain all the enthusiasm. However, the game is still so much fun, even when the situations seem dire. However, I would like to see an upgraded engine of this game or a slight adjustment of overpowered implants.
Game was released in 2012, and has now become a cesspool for cheater VS cheater gameplay. Seeing that the Windows Kernel cheat is free and undetected. And the DEVS indirectly admitting that it costs to much to follow up on cheaters. But they will gladly take your money though.
