this game was amazing in 2012-2015. most immersive large scale game that you couldnt compare to any other game at the time and honestly still cant today. Sony and Daybreak both neglected this game pretty heavy and now the low populations show for it. they used to have two planets running full population and your best time to get in was when one game finished and it switched to the third planet or youll be waiting in queues forever.. R.I.P to a special game
I have played this game from beta and i can no longer support this game. The game is riddled with cheaters. People place spawn points underneath the map. Wall exploits to see people through walls. I can live with radar that goes over an entire region after maxing out scout radar on a vehicle, but radar doesn't spot you vertically. I can't tell you how many times I've been spotted from climbing over buildings or down tree tops. These people don't even have the sense to not blow up the only enemy spawn point when the number of players left playing this game at peak is what, 80 on a server? You end up running out of nanites and having to walk from the closest ally controlled region. This game is dead and it makes me sad. Don't bother giving them anymore money or time, find something else. I wish someone would make a Planetside 3 or equivalent game. I'm really going to miss how unique each of the classes are and the deep customization.

The game is basically dead, and there's good reason. There have been no good meaningful updates to this game in years. In fact one of the biggest updates, the one that added construction has actively made the game worse. Check steamdb - https://steamdb.info/app/218230/charts/#6y - The playerbase was stable for years, got a covid spike like many games, and was totally okay. You can see at the fortification update the playerbase dropped dramatically and has continued to dwindle. A playerbase that used to fill out massive full frontal conflicts on 2 or even 3 continents in the game now cannot even fill one. Servers and netcode continue to be ♥♥♥♥, poor balancing of weapons and vehicles has not improved. Daybreak Studios is a nursing home for old MMOs to die, and this one is going out in the next few years.
You finally complete your training. You have learned the difference between all of the classes. You are ready. You spawn in. You realize you have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue what to do. You look around for any indacator of safety. You see a small building to your left. You take one step. The next thing you know you have been shot in the head by an infiltrator sitting 3,000 miles away named DiscoJesusFish 10/10 would be killed by funkadelic aquatic mesiah again
One of my favorite first person shooters of all time and after taking a break for a year and a bit I log back in to find they've deleted my account. over 1000 hrs playtime and $300 invested. F#@k Daybreak games I'll never play another game you ever make. way to F#@k the people who enjoyed the game for no reason.
Not many people playing anymore. I remember the golden age of pure chaos of countless tanks, aircraft, and infantry just going at it. It wasn't just a shooter, it was a proper battlefield. No border limit to confine you, no crazy OP gun, just thousands of real people going at it IRL. Classes with skills, objectives that need taking or defending. I looked into it recently and no plans are in the works for a sequel. This was a titan that the passage of time will forget except for few who remember.
Devs have apparently abandoned the game, just reinstalled it and crashed instantly on perfect hardware and software, there are reports of instant and 5 minute later crashes going back years unfixed.
PlanetSide 2
it just crashes
Game's been dead to me since they shut down Briggs. Not playing with 150+ ms lag on other servers.
