Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 8.71/day in the week to Aug 10 → 23.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i thought the game would be better considering what ive heard but its honestly way too difficult, if you cant think quickly like me and or have adhd and cant remember every single detail about things you wont be able to beat this. easy mode doesnt even make it easier it just gives you more money. im not sure how im expected to remember every rule in the rule book and remember the names of every city ontop of having to do it quickly without messing up at all. i failed on the 2nd day.
Nota Geral | Overall Rating
Papers, Please is an interesting game in concept, but it runs into its own repetitiveness before it can fully explore the potential of its premise. The idea of putting you in the role of a border inspector in a fictional totalitarian state is brilliant and carries strong thematic weight, but the mechanical execution, based on repeatedly checking documents, gets tiring faster than it should. It's a game I respect more than I genuinely enjoy.
Jogabilidade | Gameplay
The system of checking documents, comparing information, and spotting inconsistencies is satisfying in the first few hours, and the way the game gradually introduces new rules and verification tools keeps the mechanic interesting for a good while. The time pressure, combined with the need to support your family on the salary you earn per person processed, creates morally uncomfortable decisions that work really well. The problem is that after a certain point, the loop starts repeating itself without bringing enough novelty to justify all the hours of play.
The length is appropriate for what the game sets out to do, with a campaign that spans several in-game days and multiple endings that encourage replays. The problem is that, despite being technically well-sized, the pacing in some parts of the mid-game drags, making some days feel too repetitive even within a length that, on paper, is correct.
Enredo | Story
The game's political premise, set in the fictional country of Arstotzka, is interesting and works as a sharp critique of totalitarian states and dehumanizing bureaucracy. The subplots involving smugglers, spies, and rebels trying to cross the border add layers to the narrative, but the fragmented way they're told, through small bits of dialogue between one document and the next, means a good part of the emotional weight gets lost in the repetitive routine of the job. It's a plot with strong thematic potential that isn't always well served by the chosen game structure.
Visual
The pixelated, grayish visual style is a smart design choice, reinforcing Arstotzka's oppressive, bureaucratic atmosphere without needing sophisticated graphics. The contrast between the visual monotony of the inspection booth and the small details in travelers' faces and documents helps create a strong visual identity that fits the game's proposal. It's not a visual that impresses technically, but it does its artistic job very well.
Audio
The audio serves a functional role, with ambient sounds that reinforce the cold atmosphere of the inspection booth and a minimalist soundtrack that rarely draws attention to itself. There's not much to highlight here, the sound effects of stamping documents and the sirens during tense moments work well in context, but it's not a score or sound design that sticks in your memory after you turn off the game.
