A fun and enjoyable survival game with creature-reliant progression, like Ark, but more charming. The Pals are fun and interesting, with moves, stats, skills, and work-skills. Different Pals have different suitability for various jobs around the base, making early progression a matter of finding better Pals. Later, with the Pal Surgery Table, and Skill Books, even low-end Pals can be upgraded to be as effective as endgame Pals for any given task. This gives a bit of freedom to choose Pals based on appearance or preference, rather than simply using whatever has the best work-skills. Pal combat is pretty enjoyable, and allows for some interesting combinations. For example, some Pals apply grass-type debuffs which make enemies take additional damage from fire attacks, giving you an opportunity to switch out Pals for higher damage output. Other Pals can buff your attacks and damage directly or passively in other ways. There are a few issues and oversights, however. The building is fairly bare, and the basics like foundations, walls, and roofs are extremely limited. The pieces can also be difficult to arrange and snap, especially if you're trying to build around the edge of your base. Bases should probably increase in size a bit as you level them up, as well. I really feel like the base-building needs an overhaul, or at least a lot of additional work. Overall this is a great game, and worth playing. I only hope that some of these issues can be addressed post-release.
