Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 25 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Another awesome Onimusha game, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this gifting system is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PAINFUL. Who's idea was this?!? Completionists nightmare.

Nice, story pretty good. Can repeat play again to have different outcome with different friend..
An odd game. Overly obtuse gifting mechanic that you will need a guide for to get all the proper items. A story whose pacing once after the starting town goes into overdrive. Obnoxious enemy spam especially on higher difficulties. A Story that's as basic as can be with a wooden log of a protagonist. Difficulty based more on the controls and camera than your own skill And yet it's a pretty damn fun entry into the series. Puzzles aren't nearly as obnoxious as Onimusha 1 Jubei handles a bit better than Samonosuke The action definitely feels better paced Despite the issues with the companion gifting system I do think the companions (Aside from Oyu) can be pretty fun especially playing as them. It's a classic short action game from the PS2 era if you can mind the jank it'll be a good time.

Check out my short Onimusha: Warlords Review for reference. So, before finally jumping into Onimusha: Way of the Sword this was the last I had to finish. Since the third Game is not (yet) on Steam and I don't want to play it with dubious methods, this is the only Onimusha I had left to play beforehand. (Obviously I finished Onimusha: Warlords first.) So just as I did in my Onimusha: Warlords Review, here are a few short stats for my very first blind playthrough: - Steam says 11.6 hours, 42/56 Achievements - Game says 9.45 hours, 126610 Souls absorbed, 1364 Enemies defeated, 32 Criticals (I will talk about that later on), 21/41 Phantom Realm Floors Accessed, 73 Saves (I want to be safe), 64% Story completion (57% Oyu, 9% Kotaru, 100% Magoichi, 50% Ekei), Rank B (for Bad; not the Game, probably me) Alright, with that out of the way, let's talk about the Game itself. Graphics are a step up from Onimusha: Warlords. Sound and Music were really good, voice acting was also pretty good (played in japanese with english subtitles again). The Game seemed more colorful. It also couldn't decide if it wanted to be serious or goofy. And I'd say this is definitely way more goofy than the first one. But it's kind of charming in a way...I guess... Oh and this time you could skip cutscenes, which is good. In the first hours I was a bit annoyed because it seemed the Game had way too much padding. There is a hub area for the first hours and you will spend a lot of time there, figuring out how the gift system works and in the end you will have figured out exactly nothing. I didn't want to look it up, so I rolled with it. Also, there was a really annoying farm section as well, I know you didn't have to do it, but the Shop Items were limited and if you wanted to see what happens when you buy everything, you had to farm gold. The farm spot was not far away but it got tedious after a while. Regarding combat: The camera could be really annoying sometimes, even more so than in the first Game. Especially while running around. Combat itself felt good but for the life of me I couldn't figure out the Critical (Issen) timing for any of the enemies. I even took around an hour to practice but still, no shot. It was inconsistent as hell and I really tried so many timings. I even checked guides and videos with frame by frame analytics and I still couldn't get it. Might be it's a "me problem" but wow, this was unforgiving as hell. So yeah, to me personally the timing ALWAYS felt wrong, I never could get it reliably, it was always kind of luck when I hit them. So I button mashed my way through the rest of the Game. There were some areas that you retread from the first Game which was pretty cool. But overall, for me, it was just an okay Game. Nothing that hyped me into oblivion. And keep in mind, since I never played those Games before, I have no attachment to them. No fond memories to give it bonus points. Unfortunately I forgot about 2 areas (one being the first phantom realm and the second a door for which I had the key but didn't walk back to), so I missed 2 easy Achievements, but that's fine. But yeah, after finishing the Game, I did the "Man in Black" and "Puzzle Phantom Realm" mini Games, I skipped the "Team Oni" one. I can see for people who really like this Game why they like it. And I also acknowledge that this Game has probably a lot of replay value since there are apparently branching story paths. But for me it was a bit too confusing. I think if the Game would've been more focused I'd have enjoyed it a bit more, but it is what it is. Overall good enough for me. When the third Game will release on Steam, I will give it a shot as well. That is, IF they release it. We'll see. But for now, finally on to Onimusha: Way of the Sword, really hyped for that one...
