A nice & cozy game about taking charge of a late-night store. The changes you could make to manage the place are minimal as you have the default space and numbers of shelves - so you just decide the quantity of what you sell. As an extra, you can invest your extra money into stock market or bitcoins to get more value out of your money. Simply put, it is a simplified store simulator to embrace more the chill aspect of it and can be a recommendation for someone who wants to give it a try in this genre.

While I absolutely love the vibe of the shop at night during the rain, that is the extent of my compliments for this game. It is unbearably simple in it's mechanics and I can count a dozen of other simulator games that could scratch the itch better than this game can. There seemed to be a lot of focus in things like the banking system (which I do find fun and engaging) but without the mechanics of running the convenience store being fleshed out I found myself growing more and more tired of playing through a shift for very little financial reward within the game.
This game is chill and fun. I love that it always rain outside. sets the vibe and the mood.
I bought this game when it launched, played for a few hours and quickly refunded it. It felt super AI-ey and weird. It's got enough game elements to feel right, but also enough to feel wonky. A few weeks passed and I decided to bite the bullet and give it a full go. After playing it for a little over 11 hours I think I've done all that's reasonably possible to do in it and at this point it's just repetition gameplay-wise from now on with no actual end-goal or change in gameplay. This isn't necessarily bad, as if you find the core gameplay loop of stock store, and then press E/A to sell (repeat forever) - then you're going to have a nice relaxing time (probably). You don't go into a game like this looking for depth. You go into it for that kind of loop and it's got that for sure. With that said, there's elements to this that have "depth" that just feel off. The thing that really gives me weird vibes is the computer. I feel like I'm in some kind of 90's Outer Limits episode every time I use it. It feels odd since the game itself is incredibly basic and simple, but the PC is needlessly complicated. Most simulator/job games have a computer you can use that has similar functions (store decorator/stock manager) but this one has both a reddit-alike and bank/stock app. Putting aside that all the menus on it feel like they were made with Claude or some AI assisted program, these two sections are just strange. I can't tell if the 'threaded' site is AI-generated or if it just contains a lot of pre-made (potentially AI translated?) posts that are repeated and put together piecemeal, but it's incredibly off-putting. There are multiple 'sub-threads' you can join and all have distinct posts. I used it for six in-game days, "reporting" posts and hiding them, only to have new similar-ish ones repopulate in later days. I only saw one repeat of an image (that looked drawn in paint) and a poll came up with similar, yet different options on different days. It's not a bad idea to have this kind of thing in a game like this- what else would a clerk do on their downtime except browse the internet and go on 'threads' dedicated to their interests? It fits the setting, but the way it works is just off-putting and the posts themselves feel like instead of reading through lovingly written satire or in-jokes, I'm just stuck in a fake simulation reading fake posts made my a computer. Again, I can't tell if that's because it's all done by AI or just translated oddly. I lean on AI generated since there's a LOT of daily/new things that populate and that would be a monumental task to write up/create, especially so when you consider how basic everything else in the game feels. This seems like something you could just pawn off on an AI agent to get something that feels incredibly similar. Then you have the bank program. This one's where it just feels wholly out of place. Sure it's got the ability to "save/deposit" money, but why? Well, you can invest that money into retirement! What does that retirement goal/fund do? No idea. Seems like it's just a stick to put in-front of the player to give them a semblance of a long-term goal. Okay. Sure fine, that's not an issue. However, you then get into how to make MORE money. You have three options. Put your money in a savings account, lock it down in interest funds or invest in a 'real time' stock market. What? Why? Why is there a stock market and investing mini-game in a cozy simulator? Do people who enjoy clicking one button forever to make sushi or check-out guests actually find the prospect of losing their money in a bad day-trade relaxing and cozy? It goes at odds with the rest of the game and feels like it was either put in with ideas of grandeur from early development or was just plopped in because it was easily vibe coded there. It, combined with the odd menu design and wording just always makes me feel the opposite of cozy and makes me never want to interact with it at all. There's no real reason to do any of it since you make plenty of money daily just running the shop and all it does it push you towards the silly inflated goal of "retirement fund" of $25k that doesn't seem to DO anything. I got this game for the Steam Deck to relax at night. It runs well on it and works fine out-of-the box. The problems with it are that I just don't feel relaxed playing it. I get close to it since the gameplay loop is simple and repetitive and it scratches a nice part of my brain, but then I notice little things that keep taking me out of it that remind me that it just feels wonky in a way I can't describe. Can you call it uncanny valley when the characters in game look and move like wacky-waving-inflatable-arm-flailing tube men?
I wanted to wait until I made it to at least 30 days until I made this review... I couldn't... Overall at the current state this game is in, it is... okay. It is a very simple cozy game with not much late game. A lot of the gameplay loop is simple. Make sushi before open. Change prices to match trending item of the day (which sushi can't be for some reason) and lower price of sushi about to expire. Open the store. Press E at the register over and over. Leave to clean. Press E at the register over and over. Fill a robot order. Press E at the register over and over. Get mad that the stocks on the register dropped for the 7th day in a row. Press E at the register over and over. Check reddit to get zero info about if stocks are going to change. Press E at the register over and over. Close the shop. I made it to Day 20. Overall the game is cozy and simple. Its just a bit... too simple. The biggest issue I have is with the store products vs shelf space. You have a billion shelfs and not enough items to really fill everything unless you want to have 100 shrimp bags and hand soap just to make the place look full. On the other end, you get a billion different sushi meals to make with very little space for them. I got to the point where I can only put out 2 of some sushi dishes out per night. You can't make more during the night because it will just expire. HOW TO FIX I would also love to hire staff to maybe make the sushi and put it away in different spots or even run the register. Maybe even have a place to put "50% OFF SUSHI" that is about to expire in a day. More product is needed to actually fill the store. Stock info and news on the reddit type site so you can see what is trending would be nice. Upgrades to maybe make sushi last longer would be nice or to get more robot orders. I will prob wait a few months to see how this game updates before picking it up again. I honestly would wait until the game is on sale for $3-4 dollars in the current state it is in.
I really want to enjoy this game but the obvious use of AI is super off-putting. I'm not trying to hate on the game, don't get me wrong. I love the aesthetic of the store, the ambience and how low pressure the gameplay is, which is what pulled me in to begin with. The Roblox-like cartoon faces feel weird, it comes off as unsettling and immersion breaking to me. Also, my character literally goes bald with half of the hat cosmetics lol 😭 Unlocking new products via Gulp is pretty satisfying too. Although the repetitive reviews saying the exact same thing 2 reviews down does kinda ruin it for me, I enjoy reading stuff like that. Which is also links to my issue with the Threader app. The posts/comments don't really make sense to me sometimes? As if just randomly thrown in there or, like other people have mentioned, just generated by AI trying to mimic IRL Reddit threads. It just feels uncanny so I avoid it, which sucks ofc because like I said I usually enjoy reading random stuff like this in games. I assume this is a solo dev game? Which is understandable if they're new to making games and used AI to help build the foundations for something great and using placeholders, but I can't justify recommending this game in it's current state especially if they'll keep AI stuff and continue to use it. I also saw the dev listened to some reviews already and swapped out the AI posters in the store to one from an actual artist which I think is really cool and shows diligence. I can really respect that and I'd love give the game another chance in the future if things are rectified!
