some may like it. I prefer the simple mechanics of warband. Complicated stuff this. Lot's of menus for recruitment, equipment, coin ... yea, I resume playing warband
I would recommend it to everyone who likes mediaval games where you need to build army and takeover the world
Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword – One of the Greatest Medieval Games Ever Made If you’re even thinking about buying Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword, don’t hesitate. This is one of those rare games that gives you complete freedom and makes every playthrough feel like your own story. Even years after its release, it still offers an experience that many modern games struggle to match. Unlike games that constantly hold your hand, With Fire & Sword throws you into a living world where you decide who you become. You can start as a nobody with nothing but a horse and a weapon, then work your way up to becoming one of the most powerful commanders on the map. Whether you want to be a respected soldier, a feared mercenary, a wealthy trader, a noble commander, or the leader of your own army, the choice is entirely yours. The combat is one of the game’s biggest strengths. Every sword swing, pistol shot, musket volley, and cavalry charge feels rewarding because success depends on your own skill and tactics. Battles can involve dozens or even hundreds of soldiers, creating moments that genuinely feel like you’re taking part in a massive historical war. Watching your infantry hold the line while your cavalry charges the enemy’s flank never gets old. One thing that makes this game stand out is its historical setting. Instead of the typical fantasy world filled with dragons and magic, With Fire & Sword is inspired by 17th-century Eastern Europe. Muskets, pistols, sabres, pikes, cavalry, and large-scale battles create an atmosphere that’s unique compared to most medieval or fantasy games. It feels grounded while still being incredibly exciting. The freedom is almost endless. You can complete quests, join different factions, recruit soldiers from many cultures, upgrade your army, capture enemy commanders, siege towns, manage your finances, trade between cities for profit, build relationships with important characters, and shape the political landscape through your own decisions. There is no single “correct” way to play. The progression is addictive. Every battle earns experience, better equipment, stronger troops, and more opportunities. You constantly feel like you’re building something bigger, whether it’s your reputation, your army, or your influence across the entire world. Starting with a handful of recruits and eventually leading a powerful force into massive battles is incredibly satisfying. The replay value is outstanding. Every campaign can unfold differently depending on the faction you support, the allies you make, the enemies you fight, and the decisions you take. No two adventures feel exactly the same, which makes it easy to return to the game again and again. Despite its age, the gameplay remains surprisingly engaging because it focuses on mechanics instead of flashy graphics. The visuals may not compete with modern AAA games, but the depth, freedom, and large-scale battles more than make up for it. It’s one of those games where you’ll sit down intending to play for 30 minutes and suddenly realize several hours have passed. If you enjoy strategy, action, role-playing, historical settings, army management, or games where your choices truly matter, this is an easy recommendation. Few games let you create your own story on this scale while giving you so much control over your journey. Overall Rating: 10/10 Why you should buy it: * Huge open world with complete freedom. * Massive, exciting battles. * Rewarding sword, musket, and cavalry combat. * Deep army management and progression. * Excellent replay value with countless ways to play. * A unique historical setting that feels fresh even today. * Your decisions genuinely shape your adventure. Final Verdict: Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword is more than just a game—it’s a sandbox where every decision becomes part of your own legend. If you’ve ever wanted to command armies, conquer battlefields, build your reputation from nothing, and create your own unforgettable story, this is absolutely worth playing.
