Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 13 → 1.33/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
First off, lemme address the "if you're not playing Slay the Spire on max Ascension you're a casual" crowd: You're gonna hate this game. Move along. Monster Train is a roguelite deckbuilder, but it's almost more like an engine builder/auto-battler in a card game format. The satisfaction of drafting cards and building a deck mixes with the satisfaction of getting your setup just right. Modifying cards directly is part of gameplay, which helps you feel like you can fight back a bit against the RNG. There are also multiple options to ratchet up the difficulty -- you can choose to increase the overall difficulty at the beginning of a run, and before a fight starts, you can choose to accept a challenge condition in exchange for greater rewards. It's not as deep or complex as some of the luminaries of the genre, but it's also less punishing. It's also quite pretty to look at and has surprisingly good music (when's the last time you thought about a deckbuilding game's music?). Monster Train 2 is a very worthy sequel too. If you're not sure whether you'd like either of them, get MT1, and if you like MT1 you can be confident getting MT2.

玩起來很無趣 少數我連破玩一輪都沒有的乳鴿
After 1 hour of playing I knew I was in trouble. this fast paced gameplay is ADDICTIVE. the vivid colors were a bit much at first but it's quite a cohesive immersion once you get sucked in. oh, and wait for a sale! this is another example of a sequel making the original game super cheap, just wishlist this. FOMO of the sequel? go check out that page's reviews and consider what it's worth. IMO this game on sale has a huge advantage when it comes to value
A solid slay the spire type game 3.5/5
This game was made redundant with Monster Train 2. Still being sold at its full release price? Shame. You're only missing out on a few enemy designs and references. Watch a YouTube video of this one and then move on.
I played this a bit for the last 7 years.. I think, mostly in the evening or night for some reason. Love the mosic, the sounds at 4x speed fighting a boss are awful tho, but always enjoyed the ride. Pun intended. Trying different classes together, different heroes, learning you dislike some, love others.. most times go for a type of strat.. great when I can get a harmonic setup and get some combo´s. I tend to build 3 teams, each for a floor, thats 5 cards + hero. Buff guy at the front, damage dude behind. All else is support or dead weight. I find it really clever how the ´difficulty´ upps in this game, adding a negative to the run you are about to do, up to 19 I am now I believe. Hitting that +4 spikes for the +400 coins to regret it unless I get a sick trincket or amulet for the last fight.. thats peak. Just wish there was more,,, oh wait.. .. there is a DLC, and I just bought it, which adds a class and other stuff! I really hope new enemies are added! Tbh, I didnt know there was a DLC till just now... same thing with Monster Train 2. Looking at the at MT2 I don´t think it will hit that same spot this game does. The art got a bit too cartoonish and the menu and health bar and all in the top of your screen looks awful int the second game. I like Monster Train its art-style because it matches the classes together, give the enemies a bit of soul, especially those bird *'ers.. The style lets both sinc with the playfield and all, even when the boss flies outside the cabin it all feels logical for some reason. Fun game for sure.
I write this review as I click "continue to payment" for Monster Train 2 and DLC. I hope that sequel betters what this game does. A deckbuilder, autobattler, tower defense, the ultimate solitaire, and whatever this is that sucked in hundreds of hours (i spent playing while working or listening to podcasts). As a deckbuilder, you have endless permutations with the various clans (deck), each clan having two main "heroes" each hero having 2 forms, and each run pairs a "primary" clan as the main one with another clan as ally. to mix things up, You have clanless cards randomly encountered during a run, include artifacts into this. The possibilities, they say, are almost endless. As an autobattler and tower defense, battles are proceeded in position, spell casting phase followed by a resolve phase. Story goes you must ride your train deep into hell to light its fire once again because heaven froze it. As you progress, enemies from heaven barge into your 4 storey train (the fourth one your hearth and heart). it is your job to position your cards(units) amongst the different floors and take careful judgement which unit takes the front up to the back. The DLC allowed you to become more powerful at the cost of increasing the difficulty as you play, because with it you can now combine units into one, and if you reach a threshold, you will face the real boss. yes there are times you might think a game is unbeatable but for some reason, you know you can just win it, i do quit to menu and start many times lol, and though you might end up making an OP build you know that in the final boss, you could still lose. I played a lot of deckbuilders and this just tops everything and man writing this... Ill just play one more run before I but MT 2. GG thanks for this game.
Peak, 10/10. The game knows what it wants to be and nails it in every way.
