🏆 Winner – Best Deckbuilder
TooManyGames Indie Showcase 2026

Monster Tavern is a roguelike deckbuilder where you run a dangerous monster bar, serving creatures fresh off a day of harassing heroes and wreaking havoc. When night falls weary monsters crowd into the tavern looking to drink, gripe, and unwind. Serve them drinks and get them out before they mess your place up.

Beneath its charming art style lies a challenging deckbuilder. Draft new cards between shifts, collect powerful trinkets, and build a deck capable of handling everything from thirsty goblins to towering monstrosities.

Replayability is at the heart of Monster Tavern. Every run is an opportunity to discover new combinations of Drinks, Actions, and trinkets. Complete goals to unlock new starting trinkets that change how each run unfolds. Once you've mastered the base game, each bar offers four Difficulty Mugs that increase the challenge by enhancing monster stats and introducing new behaviors.
We're actively updating Monster Tavern throughout Early Access. The game currently features two bartenders, each with their own unique pool of cards to draft, and one fully playable bar. A second bar is already in development and coming soon, bringing new monsters, cards, and challenges while nearly doubling the game's content.

This game draws inspiration from other rogue-like deck builders along with the irl card game Magic The Gathering by design in the best ways possible. It's fun, easy to learn, and finds just that happy medium of being challenging without being un-motivational. The drinks/monster designs are vibrant and creative, abilities/trinkets are unique and clever, and the overall atmosphere really gives that medieval tavern feel that really creates an immersive experience. Highly recommended!
I spent like 6 hours straight playing this game. I didnt think Id like nerdy dork games like this but its actually hella addicting and pretty challenging. Slay the spire devs wish they had a game as good as this. Also the dev of monster tavern can beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of the devs of slay the spire all by himself. Real talk

I have been waiting to write my review until i completed the full game at least once. After about a dozen attempts, i can finally do so! This is a great deckbuilder for both fans of the genre or new players. You may think "but didn't it take you 12 tries" Sure. there is a learning curve, but its not impossible. For reference, i put about 75+ hours into Slay the Spire and only had 6 recorded wins... The art is very charming and amusing. Some of the cards gave me a good chuckle (one in particular) and the enemies look very much like i would expect after a long day of getting beat up by heroes. The music is very relaxing which is nice because i'm already stressing out! Would be great to get a couple more tracks, maybe some boss specific tracks? The card synergies are probably my favorite part of this game. mastering that is a MUST. there is no one card that is just going to carry you through the whole game, so you have to learn how to combine the abilities and trinkets to make a deck than can go the distance. When you get the perfect combo, its hard not to pop off a bit when something works exactly how you anticipated it might. Bosses were tough, but fair i felt. They have some fun mechanics and they even mix it up at higher difficulties. its not just giving enemies more HP/ATK. Cant wait for more content. more deck(s), new cards, new trinkets, new enemies? Lastly, i feel the price point for this game is very fair. even for an early access, there is enough here to get your money's worth and more. it's only going to get better as more content is added. very reasonable even at full price.
Pretty fun game. I like that I can just get on and play a round casually without investing so much time at once. Its difficulty keeps me coming back for more, doing better after each playthrough.
This is a very charming little game with an original concept. I found it fairly challenging, if you like card based games like Slay the Spire you will likely enjoy this title. You run a bar and monsters are your patrons, its a very cozy game.
Transparently, I'm somewhat new to the card game genre, after really only playing HS Battlegrounds. I think this game nicely blends creativity, strategy, and deck building to conquer a week at the bar. Initial plays I found very challenging but eventually got the hang of it, What truly excites me is that even now, with the game being in early access you can still put together runs and cards that you haven't previously. Excited for what's to come! Side note the dev team aka Toki is really on top of listening to feedback and incorporating QOF changes when needed. Definitely worth a pickup.
Fun, creative, and silly game! Not impossibly hard, but still packs a challenge. The monsters and sound effects add so much personality and humor to the game!
If you are into deck-builder games with massive servings of charm, check out Monster Tavern. You'll serve drinks and get your ass beat by the patron's of the tavern. St. Jugula be praised!
If you like roguelike deckbuilders, honestly just get Monster Tavern. The gameplay is very unique and fun.
Definitely for fans of games like Slay the Spire though I'm happy to say it has its own charm and strategies based on where you place the drink on the bar. The artwork is charming; love the anthropomorphic design of all the enemies. Overall an awesome game for a solo dev project. Also, dev takes feedback well and updates consistently--which is always nice.
