About
🏆 Winner – Best Deckbuilder
TooManyGames Indie Showcase 2026

Monster Tavern is a roguelike deckbuilder where you run a dangerous monster bar, serving creatures fresh off a day of harassing heroes and wreaking havoc. When night falls weary monsters crowd into the tavern looking to drink, gripe, and unwind. Serve them drinks and get them out before they mess your place up.

Beneath its charming art style lies a challenging deckbuilder. Draft new cards between shifts, collect powerful trinkets, and build a deck capable of handling everything from thirsty goblins to towering monstrosities.

Replayability is at the heart of Monster Tavern. Every run is an opportunity to discover new combinations of Drinks, Actions, and trinkets. Complete goals to unlock new starting trinkets that change how each run unfolds. Once you've mastered the base game, each bar offers four Difficulty Mugs that increase the challenge by enhancing monster stats and introducing new behaviors.
We're actively updating Monster Tavern throughout Early Access. The game currently features two bartenders, each with their own unique pool of cards to draft, and one fully playable bar. A second bar is already in development and coming soon, bringing new monsters, cards, and challenges while nearly doubling the game's content.

A lot of fun, with unexpected turns and difficulty. The game's quirky humor and characters really create an engaging, entertaining atmosphere. You can tell the dev had a blast creating this game. The progression of monster characters with each passing round/day is a delightful surprise and the bosses had me actually laughing out loud. Awesome game, can't wait to see where it goes from here! You can tell a lot of love went into this, it's full of personality and charm. Highly recommend!
Glad my PC could run this because the monster art is too good! In all seriousness, a wonderful card game with difficulty mechanics that really make for a great experience. A fantastic entry for people looking to get into card games!

Disclosure: I am friends with the developer, and I also helped in development by maintaining card text consistency, providing some custom sound effects and voice acting some monsters (and doing my best Raul Julia impression for the "GAME OVER!" announcement). That said, I absolutely love this game (which is why I offered to help in the first place). I'm a huge fan of card games and games like Slay the Spire. This game has the right mix of humor and gameplay that makes it easy to fall into long gaming sessions, where even if you lose you're not frustrated and want to keep playing. The green deck (the only one released so far) has a lot of fun mechanics, with several unique deck types available at the start. Trinkets and rare trinkets add more depth and possibilities to builds. All the monsters are absolutely hilarious. The artist did a very good job in bringing personality to each and every one. Bosses all have unique mechanics that are fun to try and create new strategies for. The difficulty is well-balanced, with nothing feeling super frustrating. But then if you want a challenge? You can go for that too (and trust me, harder difficulties will put you through your paces). Highly recommend to anyone who likes card games, deckbuilders, and games that don't take themselves super seriously. Seriously great entry from a first time indie dev.
Charming deckbuilder full of heart and humor. Fun for fans of the genre and those just here for the memes. Active developer fixes bugs.
After playing a lot of other deck builders, I can say Monster Tavern is a unique and fun spin on the formula. The art and sound design is charming and feels comfy, yet engaging to play. I'm hooked and can't wait to play more! Came for the bartending, stayed for them sumptuous Valley Girls. 10/10
Honestly I am hooked! I love the formula. It is fun and Brain Tickling, the challenge is fun, and keeps me Trying over and over! I really cant wait to see what else comes to this game! Call This Game a McDonalds McRib because MMM MMM MMM. I"m Loving it!
Fun, creative, and silly game! Not impossibly hard, but still packs a challenge. The monsters and sound effects add so much personality and humor to the game!
This game is sooo charming! Provides a really good difficulty level. Week 1 is fun and gives you a good chance to make your build, then the subsequent weeks are a real challenge. The art is great, the humor is there, the variety of cards and trinkets makes it really replayable. It is cool to see how far some of these trinkets and card combos will take you. It is nice to feel like you aren't shafted immediately by a bad build, BUT only well thought decisions and some luck will get you far. I highly recommend!
Transparently, I'm somewhat new to the card game genre, after really only playing HS Battlegrounds. I think this game nicely blends creativity, strategy, and deck building to conquer a week at the bar. Initial plays I found very challenging but eventually got the hang of it, What truly excites me is that even now, with the game being in early access you can still put together runs and cards that you haven't previously. Excited for what's to come! Side note the dev team aka Toki is really on top of listening to feedback and incorporating QOF changes when needed. Definitely worth a pickup.
I like a good deck builder, but how many games allow you to serve drinks to dungeon inhabitants who just want to unwind after ripping a hapless adventurer from limb to limb? Me that's who, and I'll do it again and again.
