It's OK. While the core movement has actually been improved somewhat since the original Mirror's Edge, they made so many other strange design choices that you ultimately end up with a worse experience anyway. It's a perfect example of "less is more." This game is very much a product of its time - meaning - uninspired 2010s open world, pick up stuff, upgrade your character, fast travel, which in my opinion takes away from the overall experience. The original is straight to the point, going from mission to mission with no fluff, and it worked perfectly that way. Catalyst has it's moments, but it definitely falls short as a sequel/reboot or whatever.
Wonderful in terms of visuals and music, gameplay is generally solid, movement feels very satisfying but the combat system is mediocre. I was initially sceptical about the game being open world but after being done with the story and some side activities I think it's done pretty well and doesn't seem forced. The story is alright, not particularly memorable but it does it's job, I feel like dialogue could have been done better. In comparison to the original Mirror's Edge, Catalyst serves as a pretty well done remake, although I do think that it doesn't fully stand up to the atmosphere of the first game, I also do miss the way cutscenes were done in the original, but oh well, it's not that bad. A shame how EA treated this game, as they haven't even bothered to make the achievements work properly after turning off the online features.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

God i hate EA just shut your trash company down already like omg
Game does not play past the first cutscene due to constantly checking for servers that don't exist anymore. You HAVE to use Windows Firewall to block its internet access in order to actually play the game.
ea doesnt deserve you....
