Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 55/day in the week to Aug 28 → 71.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The extreme tension of infiltrating without being detected.
Metal Gear series, the pinnacle of “stealth action” where you avoid combat and complete missions while hiding.
The game take place 10 years after METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater.
Amidst the swirling conspiracies behind the East-West Cold War, Snake confronts them while leading a private military force.
This is the story of how one soldier, “Snake”, becomes “Big Boss”.
【STORY】
THE ILLUSION OF PEACE FALTERS
In 1964, after saving the world from all-out nuclear war, Naked Snake, a true hero, receives the name Big Boss, but he disappears shortly after the naming ceremony.
Ten years later, Big Boss is running an independent military unit in Columbia, when he is visited by two individuals from Costa Rica, a country without a military.
In a post-Cuban Missile Crisis world, and in a Central America essential to maintaining the power balance between East and West, Costa Rica has been miraculously able to maintain peace.
However, a mysterious armed group has been seen acting suspiciously throughout the region.
They request Big Boss to investigate and eliminate the armed group.
Though he hesitates to accept the request because the tape they brought contained the voice of The Boss, who was supposed to be dead.

Shockingly, MGS4 turned out to be a very high-quality port, and peace walker ended up as the broken mess. Mouse input is god-awful as it seems like they just implemented lazy joystick emulation. How was mouse input fine in mgs4? The game also has crashed 3 times while trying to load the 2d comic style cutscenes. I'm assuming this will be fixed eventually but it's obvious that msg4 got way more attention as a port. It's a shame because I actually like this game a lot more than Guns of the Patriots. Also not having any crossplay is really stupid for a game like this.

Please add a sensitivity option for controller. I'm disabled and my hands no longer work, so I can't use a mouse. The deadzone is ridiculously high, and makes the game practically unplayable. Peacewalker and mgs2 were some of my favorite games growing up and I was fine with buying a copy paste of the game. But can we at least get an option for controller sensitivity? If you're fine with playing MnK and really enjoyed peacewalker I think the game is fine, But if you want to play on controller it's terrible. I don't understand why we can choose mouse sensitivity but not controller. I will change my review if we get an option to remove deadzone/change sensitivity but for now I cant recommend it
permanently damaging my ZEKE replaying the story fight instead of the simulation EX OP just so I can run the fade to the tune of Love Deterrence got me feeling like it's 2010 again On the real though, pretty much flawless port. Though there's some things that I feel should have been changed back in the console HD collection (like the MSF soldier search being part of the normal mission menu, with the absence of the PSP access point scan functionality), and maybe some new TTS voices in place of the Vocaloid stuff from the PSP, it's a perfectly good port of one of, if not my favourite MGS game, and the seamless Steam integration for MP is the icing on the cake. VENCEREMOS!
Playing this with mouse and keyboard is off. Aiming is very slippery and unresponsive. I was looking forward to playing this game but not if I can't move and aim properly
phenomenal memories playing this in the dead of winter 2018 on a CRT TV, having to communicate in broken English with diehard Japanese and Brazilian players that exclusively play Peace Walker ONLY, for some reason. even though there was only like a dozen people still playing back in 2018, it hilariously turned out to be the only game they played, and they showed me just how insane this game can get. i see these guys S-RANKing missions in under a minute with items and gadgets i didn't even know you could get/existed in-game - stealth camos, railguns that need multiple players to charge up and another to fire, sniper rifles the size of 3 MSF soldiers, a human slingshot that needs cooperation from 2 others.. just the most absurd ♥♥♥♥, completely destroying these lobbies like its nothing. it makes you feel like a student learning from a master, or something. i remember in particular a lobby we had going - me, an American, a Brazilian, a Japanese guy, and a guy from Mexico, all attempting our damnedest to communicate out of the sheer love for some ancient PSP game everyone forgot about a decade ago, where if they needed to correct me or tell me to do something, 90% of the time i had to run their message through google translate, think of what to say, run my message through google translate, and type it on the stupidly slow PS3 chat keyboard. we all still have each other on PSN to this day! a genuinely caveman like experience that i can never forget the thing with the PW grind is that eventually you learn to love it with enough hours (and friends). completing missions faster and faster, getting more and more S-RANK soldiers and firing the useless ones, eventually getting the recipes for stealth camo and the best smoke grenades in the game... the AI are braindead once you learn how it works, and once that happens you can break the game in half. grueling battles i struggled with at the beginning turned into sub 1-min sweeps, especially with multiple people. for a while, i actually needed a buddy to help me get through certain SIDE-ops until i was able to manage it on my own. it felt like a true triumph being able to S-Rank any mission on my own within minutes once i got the gear i needed. there's a point system called Camaraderie, where you make better and better connections with your friends based on how much you play together/actions done, and i met a Japanese guy who took me under his wing in particular to show me the most ultra-esoteric metas and info, and he would often just go AFK for like 3 hours so i could grind out whatever i needed to do with a real person. there's no other community where you will find people like this, and i think it's because peace walker is not for everyone, so if you find yourself grinding end-game PW content with other people, you naturally are gonna run into people of the same temperament, i guess. you either end up getting through the main story once and forgetting about it, or end up obsessing over it and getting into the nuances of R&D grinding and S-tier soldier farming, there seems to straight up be no in-between. this game is bizarrely content rich, to the point that i don't think all of it has been discovered.. in any case, to see 4,000 people playing this port in 2026 is a bit surreal and special for me.. getting to experience the whole climb to the top again is fun, but the real enjoyment for me is getting to a point where i can help new players and share whatever esoteric information with the new players i meet (cause there is a lot), just like the community taught me years ago
I have no idea how they managed to make MGS4 play flawlessly on keyboard & mouse only to release whatever this is alongside it. It's not worth getting for now. Add to that it's just not a very good game. For as much as people larp this one being some hidden masterpiece, it's (imo) the worst-feeling entry in the series and not even the strongest Metal Gear game on the PSP. Portable Ops does a better job of realizing the sneaking gameplay of this franchise than this! And both Acid games are frankly more interesting experiments than this.
When the residents are evil and the hills are silent, I shall walk in peace and Fear no evil. For I pray onto you, Lord Kojima 🙏. KOJIMA IS GOD 🙇
