Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 36.14/day in the week to Jul 22 → 49.38/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Marathon has all the ingredients for a great extraction shooter, but it never comes together into something worth sticking with. The gunplay is solid, and the visuals are excellent, but that's where most of the praise ends. Matches quickly start to feel repetitive, progression is slow, and the risk-versus-reward balance rarely feels satisfying. Too often it feels like you're spending 20 minutes gathering gear just to lose everything in an encounter that wasn't fun or fair. The biggest issue is that the game lacks its own identity. It borrows ideas from other extraction shooters but doesn't improve on them, leaving it feeling like a watered-down version of games that already do the genre better. Team balance, matchmaking, and the overall pacing all need serious work. I wanted to like it, but after dozens of hours I realized I was playing out of hope that the next update would fix things instead of actually having fun. Maybe it'll be worth revisiting after major changes, but in its current state, I'd save your money and your time.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

One of the most curious clashes between adventurous and derivative. The aesthetic of Marathon is genuinely amazing. When I first saw the teaser trailer I thought it looked almost cheesy (in a kind of "it's a videogame the videogame1!" kind-of way), but upon seeing the final product it is actually cool. Marathon contrasts overtly digital and cold to organic and fallible and then exposes how uncomfortable the middleground between those two worlds is. It contains a lot of imagery that is surprisingly "offensive": like maggots weaving the automaton you play as. It also plays with overloading the senses a lot, which of course fits the artistic premise here. I'm completely convinced it was toned down massively during production, but the vision itself is really striking. Then there is the game. It plays like a competent shooter. That's all I can give it really. It's another "hit all the corporate bulletpoints"-type extraction shooter. Designed for retention. Designed to waste your time. Daily missions here daily missions there. Seasonal resets. Hero shooter on top of it. It's just so unbelievably derivative and boring. When Marathon does eventually shut down (which I strongly suspect will be earlier than later) I will be very confused whether I should mourn it or not. Artistically it's a brilliant game. As an actual game it's corporate slop.
Dead game lol
Bring back Survival and I can't stand the servers anymore, getting into a game with 100+ ping is crazy + the rubberbanding that has been there since S1.. I don't think the game deserves the hate it gets because It's a great and beautiful game. For new players Survival was a great introduction, you could go Solo/Duo/Trio with no queue time which is perfect. The amount of Rooks I came across was rare, 1/5(isch) games I would spot a Rook by the exfil with a nice talk or just a sneaky exfil (Queued only Duos/Solos). It was a perfect gamemode where you train and learn about Abilities, positioning and Items, also discover what the maps had to offer such as POIs and more depending on the map you decided to run. (Perimeter and Dire Marsh Night) People are giving up way to early due to getting a Perimeter "Light" and then its gone after 2-4 games depending on the runs ofc. (and yes there are players still that can eliminate you on Perimeter Light, but are the same level as you.) This forces the player/players to go against the best and high level players while being at the bottom due to the games learning curve and restrictions. I miss the days where I could just hop on the game and just play, no goal, no brain and get out with something I can bring into a real game or just sell/convert and repeat to progress my shells so you don't fall behind if you for example have a job or play other games that requires daily attention. Marathon to me Is really fun at It's core, PVE feels nice and the PVP can end within seconds or last for minutes. Death is a lesson just like any other Extraction Shooters, YOU WILL DIE ALOT and It's normal, but there are also times where you exfil alot. Be on your guard and Have a nice run!
It’s a great looking game story is interesting gunplay is satisfying just disgustingly boring metas and overall almost entirely ran by stacked squads solo is camp fest and fills isn’t horrible just I think there should be gear based matchmaking cause how do I go in purple loadout and get two free kits idc if your level 200 diamond 1 that’s not helping me in a fight against a gold squad if your a one shot fest hitting them with wet noodles sometimes you can get the jump but either they learn or those players just don’t bring in gear
Bungie invested in the wrong game.
Junk game
An exceptional experience. I don't really understand the vitriol being spewed over it. The game is a blast. This is the only extraction shooter I've played where getting killed and looted after a 15 minute drop doesn't feel devastating, yet exfiltrating feels exhilarating. The learning curve is moderate and very approachable for casuals like myself. The action is intense and easy to find, and the art/world/lore/production is incredible and inspired.
Okay. So in general it's the best FPS shooter I've played in my life. And it's no match. Why? Fantastic gunplay, pretty wide tactical options and choice of weaponry, thrilling PVP, and freaking awesome maps. (Cryo is a literally a masterpiece) Visuals are sick, sound design is even better. If you understand the essence of the game you will have a great time (I needed around 100 hours to get a hand of it). But the more time you invest in the game, more details are revealed to you. If you want to try hard the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game - you can do it, and you will be rewarded. If you want to just run around and have fun fights without caring about gun building or implant choices - it's definitely a possibility as well, you are gonna like it. The game has a huge potential in my opinion. If it will not decay in couple of months or a year, it will be even greater game. Minuses: - Kinda bad UX/UI - Low player count - No onboarding (the game just throws you into, and you have to figure out a lot of things by yourself). So if you are just starting, go get someone to help you with some fundamentals - Bugs - And awful start of the season 2 And yeah. You will have a hard time if you don't know how to read, and if you care about pixels in your inventory more than the fun aspect - you won't like it for sure.
