I was hoping for a true dungeon crawler similar to "The Bard's Tale" or "Might & Magic: World of Xeen". This is a game of moving in circles trying to hit the enemy while moving sideways out of their way just in time to avoid their attack then turning toward them as they move into the square you just vacated. You then hit them again, move and turn (rinse and repeat). If you might enjoy kiting enemies in constant movement or opening a door, hitting them then closing it before they attack, this may be the game for you.
Neutral review (if You are a dungeon crawler fan You will obviously like it, for anyone else You might be disappointed) I always thought of myself as a big fan of crawlers as they were big part of my childhood, this game made me rethink this :D (Dungeon Master 1 was my 1st serious game on PC, with Dungeon Master 2 I had a revelation that music is very important for me personally in a game - I still reminisce the starting zone, while Might&Magic series (especially 3,4,5) are still my fav games of all time... After Legend of Grimrock I just feel tired...so, on to the bad: - game is just too simplistic...only 3 classes and the mage (and even warrior to some extent) is kind of useless, literally even the guides straight up tell You, roll 4 rogues... the only limitation is the number of items You can find to gear them up. - I played a somewhat classic tanky war + punchy rogue + bow rogue + ice mage, and in conclusion I can say - heavy armor is kinda meaningless since You can't stand toe-to-toe to the more dangerous mobs anyway, mage is plain annoying due to number of mouse clicks You have to do and the fact You will have to rest a LOT due to energy draining too quickly (yes I know this is straight up Dungeon Master system with runes etc...but I think I was just expecting a bit more QoL from a more modern game) and the one mage utility which I was excited to synergize with my bow rogue ended up annoying as well - enchanted arrows/bolts not being picked up automatically since the moment You shoot them they are not enchanted anymore so Your archer ignores them... - combat is...meh...unless You find dancing/side-stepping around mobs interesting - again I know some old school games did this, but I don't think this a good design that should be replicated - a LOT of puzzles as is expected from a dungeon crawler, a tad too much for my taste personally - almost no story, and what is there is completely predictable - did I mention mage/magic is useless? :D I mean the only place where they shine is if You go for ice magic and freeze mobs from time to time + a miniscule utility in light spell which frees up 1 hand slot for the party, but other than that - no healing/status effect spells, no food spells (to free up space/weight), the need to commit to 1 element etc etc Still, this is a decent old-school dungeon crawler, the best part is probably the atmosphere the game creates, the sounds and ambience is spot on, get it on a deep sale if You crave something of this sort :)

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

You hopefully read this because you are unsure if you should get it. Yes, you should be unsure. It is essentially "What if a 80s/90s Dungeon Crawler was made in 2012?" well, you'd have LoG. Legends of Grimrock is not "Daggerfall reimagined" or "Dungeon Crawling done with modern gameplay aspects" it's not turn-based like some classic dungeon crawlers, well it kind of is but the combat is in real time and unless you are ready to be part of an awfully niche community of gamers - and I really DO mean awfully niche - then you might have a shot with this. Listen. I there are swathes of reasons why I wouldn't recommend this game to the average person. But there's a couple of good reasons to recommend it if you have ever played Might and Magic. Yes. Not its RTS pendant 'Heroes of' Might and Magic but the blobber Might and Magic. Or if you are into Wizardry. These titles tell you absolutely nothing? WELL. Imagine Tabletop RPGs but you control everyone. This was the original idea behind these types of games and honestly, if you cannot see yourself stuck for 20+ hours underground in a dungeon that cuts you no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slack whatsoever, this is not your type of game. If you, however *are* part of the population that thinks this is the coolest ♥♥♥♥ since sliced bread? Remember you can customize your characters with custom portraits so if you ever wanted to go on such an adventure with your friends, you can quite literally port them in. It's so much more fun this way and I had plenty of laughs having my swedish friend be a fire ball casting fire wizard while his portrait was him holding a Kalashnikov into the camera. 10/10 one of the best games I ever touched. Oh and also it has Workshop support so you won't ever run out of dungeons.
Tribute to classic dungeon crawlers. Control party of 3 characters playing from the first person view. Moving is grid based and turn based (only in combat). Dungeons are nicely done, some include secret passages, rooms and traps beyond all comprehension. Depending on class of your heroes game might be more or less challenging, make sure to have multiple saves. Exploration is the main force that drives you in this type of games along with leveling. Use points to boost stats and keep everyone happy. This was the first real dungeon crawler I ever played from beginning to the end. Game is set in titular Grimrock dungeon. Level design is decent. Enemies require a bit of strategy. Recommended.
Really cool game, pretty much modern Eye of the Beholder, even the secret buttons use exact or similar pattern. Anyone who enjoys dungeon crawlers/blobbers should like it, a dozen of levels, multiple spells, items and collectibles, items and enemies could offer more variety but game isn't long, so it shouldn't matter that much. The only two things I didn't like are, some creature designs felt completely out of place and the final battle is REALLY bad, I imagine devs were rushing it or something - it's that bad. Also minor thing, would be nice to be able to attack with all characters at once, even Beholder 3 had it 9000 years ago.
You’ve missed out if you haven’t played this one. I decided to replay it almost 15 years later, and it still holds up.
Not much to say other than the fact its a really awesome dungeon crawler. Lots of cool enemies, tons of secrets and items to find. Yeah, dope game
old school part based dungeon crawler akin to dungeon master, elder scrolls arena, and might & magic. filled to the brim with clever secrets, and head scratching puzzles. Don't bother with the negative reviews, most of them probably have never played a challenging rpg before. worth the $15 and def worth the $2 when its on sale.
This game isn't so terrible that I didn't beat it (it didn't take 41 hours either, I just left the menu open overnight twice). The "real-time combat" is simply not very fun. Neither kiting enemies on a 2x2 square nor face-tanking two crabs in a corridor via clicking on inventory items is enjoyable, especially when your attacks nonsensically whiff Morrowind-style. Apparently Grimrock 2 is better, but I won't bother checking.
