WHY CANT I MINE SALT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? this stupid game does not make it easier even after 170 hours of play.
Pure idler without any rabid clicking, and I like it. Just check out it twice a day to rearrange the workforces, summon those who became available, ascend the experienced, set up expeditions and manufactures... sounds a bit complicated but takes 10 mins at best, usually faster. Cute critters. A solid work but FREE. I've thrown 5$ for the projects far worse and would buy Koltera 3 in a sec if it'd be a thing. Only one downside, setting up a dungeon run is kinda boring since you can't automate the armor sets.

Initial impressions are very mixed. I enjoy idlers and have logged countless hours in ITRTG and Melvor Idle, both clear inspirations for this game. The progression seems to be based around unlocking critters, which I suppose is a satisfying and long-term goal, but it just doesn't have a satisfying punch. As for the skilling mechanics, this game does a lot of things right. Gathering skills are "your character does one at a time", with creatures being able to help, and workstations allow queueing recipes (which Melvor sorely lacks) and working on all stations at once. There is a good foundation of a game here, the blocks are in place, but the execution is just landing poorly. The other thing staring me in the face is the creature design. I've got no reason to claim the art is AI generated, but the description text sure feels like it. Every single description is "A X-like create that [some hibby/personality]. It is/does [other personality trait]." Each creature feels lifeless, since you unlock them by spending items and they all level up passively by doing anything. Their elements and traits affect their strength at different activities, but these feel extremely arbitrary. As a player I feel like I'm just on rails, not really making any decisions on how to progress or tackle objectives, just update my activity to the latest thing and unlock creatures one at a time. There's just none of the theorycrafting or number crunching you can find in many other long-term idle games. Oh, and if your game is fully out, it shouldn't have "Placeholder flavor text, to be written in the future" on anything, much less an early game creature unlock. This is the indicator to me to stop playing and find a different game. I will change my review if updates are made that address these considerations, otherwise I think there are better idlers out there.
pros - much better than the predecessor - different creates actually make sense and I found myself planning the summoning order because of it - gathering skills are asymmetric - sanctuary is a nice mechanic cons - some mechanics before very obsolete very fast (garden, expeditions, ...) - I kept having to micromanage crafting of essence-based items even well into the late game - most of the awaken tree is rather unimaginative misc - art of items is inconsistent, not a huge deal, this game would be about the same regardless of presence or absence of art
悪い点 ・miningの価値が高すぎて、ずっとminingするしかない ・フォントがクソ過ぎて、8と0の区別がつかない
Koltera 2 is an idle creature collector game that's surprisingly free, there's no microtransactions or any form of IRL money transactions. For a game that's to my knowledge 100% free, there's a lot of content and fully completing the game consists of over a thousand hours (thankfully, most of that can be done offline with a maximum offline time of 72 hours). The game consists of six different skills with each skill having 12 different items you can obtain, most items have their own obtainable pets which you then have to fully unlock via getting items for the pets, this gets tedious the higher the pet tier, with six being the highest, which takes literally days (again, thankfully can be done offline) to get. First time you max a pet (level 70) you can reset their level, increasing their maximum level to 120 and giving an "awaken tree" point, once reaching level 120 and resetting, you get the second tier prestige (which unlike the awaken tree, can be repeated). Pets can collect resources, higher the tier the quicker they collect. the levels increase stats that are used for dungeoneering, with higher tiers earning more stats per level. The game heavily focuses on the pet side of things. The game offers a lot of content, more than some idle games that I've paid for, the only issue that I've had is less gameplay and more informative. I've almost fully completed the game, gotten every pet, maxed out the Tools, Machines, Awaken Tree and Fabrication, bought every item from the shop and yet I'm still missing two items, having something that when you scroll over the missing item, gives a hint on how to get it would be great. Some pets have a description explaining their abilities and such, which is nice, but not all of them have a description. For a game created by one person, this is amazing. it's not the best game ever, but a lot of the negative reviews seem to be based around the length it takes to get stuff done, it's an idle game with offline mode, of course it'll take ages to do stuff, this is the sort of idle game that you check up on every couple days, it's very passive. Almost fully completing everything took me roughly 4/5 months, which isn't as long as I thought when compared to some idle games that literally take over a year to complete. Even as I'm making this review, the game is still being updated, so hopefully, eventually the lack of pet descriptions and other issues mentioned by other people will eventually happen.
For a game developed by a solo creator, it's a surprisingly fun experience that doesn't expect you to make it a daily commitment. You can set things up and check back every few days, which is exactly what you want from a good FREE IDLE game. is the game perfect? No, but no game is, and at least Braymen is trying and working on fixing and improving the game all the time while charging nothing to play it. As for those who complain about placeholder text, balance issues, or claim AI use cause they think x, y,z is bad so it must be AI, or missing features, or simply expect everything to be handed to them and use the rating system like Karens to try and ruin a dev acting as if they're owed something for playing a free game. You may be better off playing games developed by large studios with full teams working at your preferred pace and style, who will happily charge you for the right to play. This dedicated developer genuinely cares, actively interacts with the community, and listens to suggestions. The sense of entitlement seen in the gaming community is unfortunate and is why more and more Devs refuse to engage or listen to the players.

Depois de inúmeras horas, o jogo fica sendo muito "mais do mesmo". O que deveria ser divertido, invocar as criaturas, não é.
Yes, it is an idle game, but it is a very boring idle game. I enjoyed Koltera more than the second version. I really wanted to like this one. The art is cute, but that's about it. The creatures are more like machines than anything else. It doesn't feel like a creature collection game. They could be cards or tools or even rocks. It would not change a thing about the gameplay. All you do is wait until you can unlock better tier creatures and once you have unlocked them all (even before that, if you just let the game sit) it is over. There is no endgame, nothing left to do. All creatures unlocked, but the only use they had, was to speed up harvesting and crafting stuff to unlock better creatures. Early game is dragging a lot and there is no endgame, really. So yeah. I finished the game, but it didn't feel like I achieved anything other than having the patience to let the game sit in the background or ignore it for two days to log in, queue up some crafting and close it again. Kinda sad.
