A logistical headache with perpetual hungry & sick & slow & lazy & inefficient citizens, poor management of resources gathering & producing. Electricity feature is deeply unbalanced and also the storage system. Card system shifts the gameplay away from RTS genre. Army resources and battle feature are bad. Tiles layout & allocation is unbalanced, posing a constant frustrating grinding for distancing from town hall for the ever-needing expansion of territory. Additionally, the game is resources-hungry, making it, even on low-quality settings, a computing nightmare.
A solid city builder with well thought out mechanics, plenty of variety, and a bit of civ mixed in. Kingdoms reborn has good coop support too. The game can get very micromanagy towards the end which is good or bad depending on your preferences.
One of the best in its genre because it's beautiful and gives me that rags to riches feeling, which is very rare for me. You begin by building a very small village and, along several era changes, you can build a huge, beautiful and, most of all, functional city, almost like an entire country. I used to play this a lot in the beginning of early access, when it was very easy. The dev added a lot of "nations" between you can choose, each of them with particular attributes and challenges, and you can also choose a difficulty level at the beginning of the run. I love that I can build exactly how and what I want, the freedom of choosing a game style to match your preferences, which is also almost inexistent nowadays. So this game, even if it can be difficult, it's not at all frustrating. Trade is very important in this game. Without it you can't make money and build anything. To build you must choose from a selection of cards and to buy a card you need money. It sounds lame, but it's not. I think it's very original for a city-building game. You see how your city is slowly spreading across the big (random generated) map and just want to build a little more. Very hard recommend from me. Pros: - beautiful - sandboxy without being too easy; the freedom to choose your own style it's huge - the city becomes gigantic in the endgame and the challenge is mostly logistic and to maintain the balance of resources - large selection of nations and difficulty levels - original card mechanics - dev is very active and listens to the playerbase - very replayable Cons: - I can't think of any, but we can always use more buildings and production lines.
The game is pretty fun in multiplayer, but lately crashes a lot with unity errors. Also it looks like the developer has started using AI Icons.
