I had already played the game years ago in my childhood, but recently I decided to replay it on PC and complete all the achievements. And honestly, even after so much time, the game is still one of the best tower defense games I’ve played, not that I played much of this genre. At first, the gameplay is very simple and easy to understand. You place towers, defend the path, and upgrade your defenses while waves of enemies become stronger. But as the game progresses, new enemy types and mechanics appear constantly, forcing you to adapt your strategy instead of just spamming the same towers every level. The progression is mostly linear, but the game gives enough freedom for different playstyles. Some stages are easy if you focus on archers, while others practically force you to use magic or barracks correctly. The hero system and special abilities also help keep the gameplay interesting. The difficulty starts relatively balanced, but later levels can become surprisingly challenging, especially on higher difficulties or optional challenge stages. Some maps genuinely require multiple attempts until you find the right strategy. Still, the game rarely feels unfair, because most failures happen due to bad positioning or poor resource management. The art style is probably one of the strongest parts of the game. Even though it’s a simple tower defense game, the animations, enemy designs, and small details give a lot of personality to the world. The soundtrack is also very good and fits perfectly with the fantasy atmosphere without becoming repetitive. I didn’t encounter any bugs during my playthrough. Everything feels smooth and responsive, even during the more chaotic stages with dozens of enemies on screen. Getting 100% achievements can take something around 20 hours, because of the challenge modes and specific objectives, but nothing feels impossible. Some achievements may require guides if you don’t want to replay stages multiple times trying to figure them out.
