This game is so good! It is a love letter to games like Link's Awakening and Oracle of Ages/Seasons. It's got all your standard Zelda-like mechanics like a sword, dungeons, items that grant you additional progress throughout a circuitous overworld. It's even got a trading sequence, which I'm a complete sucker for. What really sets it apart though is how inventive the dungeons are. They each center on a cool idea and then develop it through tricky puzzles. Of course I can't fail to mention that the retro art is so cute, and the music is a bop! The story is so sad, too. I highly recommend it.
Did you love the Legend of Zelda games on the Gameboy and Gameboy Color? You'll love this. A delightful and challenging love letter to action-adventure puzzlers. Pretty impressive. Polished. Lots of unexpected features and details. Very happy with how this turned out.

Isle of Reveries no doubt inspired by the zelda look, but has it own unique twist in the mechanic. After the first dungeon, it feel like some puzzle will be headache for some people as you have to really observe the environment to figure the solution to the puzzle that might need some item from other room. Especially this game let player to copy item like pot, statue, arrow dragon shooter, path. Not to mention the jumping mechanic. Overall its quite fun and would recommend to try out this. I have been looking forward to this game for months and it finally came out on my birthday of all days! What a great present. I accidentally left the game open so it appears I have more time played than I really do, but man I have been enjoying it so far. Ever since playing the demo I have been scouring the internet for Zelda-like games I have yet to play to fill the void. Isles of Reveries did not disappoint
Disclaimer: I was a kickstarter backer for this game. I'm a big ban of Zelda games, and naturally was interested in this one. I'm one dungeon in, and so far the game feels very polished:

The first dungeon is well-designed. Mazelike, not repetitive, and interesting.
Puzzle elements, including the ability to copy things you see, are put to good use.
There's several items, all of which feel interesting and useful.
The difficulty level feels on-par with Link's Awakening. Not too easy or too hard. Half the enemies WILL damage you if you're too hasty, and the other half are no-brainers. The game is generous with its health pickups.
The first boss felt unique and made use of multiple items you've found so far.
Other pros:

You can save+quit at any time, or save at certain statues, and there are autosaves.
You can equip any item to any of your 3 item slots. RB is for jumping and LB is for the copy-paste ability.
Hitboxes are forgiving. Damage taken never felt unfair. Even if you fall into deep water, you have a brief splashing animation during which you can step back out before dying.
You can rebind all actions for both controller and keyboard.
Issues:

I do wish the process of quitting the game and getting back into it didn't require waiting through so many menus. Save and return to the title, wait for the autosave warning again, then get to the menu and THEN you can quit.
I did not experience any bugs so far, except for one where the lava appeared completely monocolor in one room when I revisited an earlier area, but fortunately only one room was affected.
If you're a fan of 2D Zelda games, especially Link's Awakening or the Oracle games, you will feel right at home with this one. All in all an impressive Zeldalike so far!
我想说本作是2026第一类塞,谁同意谁反对?
Tremendously enjoyable. Some of the dungeon puzzles require quite a bit of thought, but this is fun and evocative of the GB Zeldas while maintaining it's own thoughts, ideas, and updated quality of life things. Good stuff. Also, perhaps controversially, I think this tackles what Echoes of Wisdom was trying to do much better.
i'm still early on (just beat the 2nd dungeon) but i can tell this game's going to be an all timer. credentials: im one of those freaks who love the oracle games and when the claw launcher shot out and it played that sound effect i knew the dev was a real one. i hope this game sells a million copies
Really lovely Zelda-style game, very much in the vein of Link's Awakening or Oracle of Ages & Seasons. It is very obviously a Zelda game, which means it has dungeons, it has cool gadgets that are progression items, and it doesn't have overcooked combat or Dark Souls mechanics that aren't welcome. It's not very hard or complex, but it is good adventuring and puzzling with some great Game Boy Color era visuals and fantastic music.
Great game that hits that feeling of the classic Legend of Zelda Oracle / Season of ages. Game ran flawless for me, no crashes or bugs. The abilities and puzzles were fun and clever, Also liked the copy ability, which I will say, I forgot I had it a few times and got stuck on puzzles because of it. The only nitpick I have is that the map CAN be a little hard to navigate but after walking through the world many times to get everything for all achievements, it wasn't the worst thing. I recommend this game if you have an itch for the Oracle of Ages / Season, which this one is very inspired by!
