mid game

It's not a soccer game! And I am very reccomend this game! It/s 30% Soccer game + 70% RPG! The story is great, gameplay mechanic, asset, animation, music and sound is at Level 5 quality (even at corner of the map they create some 3D asset rto fill the space, wow!) To summarize this game, it is a pokemon like game where you collect soccer player! leveling up, patch some passive and active skills and equip your gears (per player, including manager and coordinator) to face the opposing team.

Once I get Axel Blaze/Gouenji on my team, I'll be unstoppable!!!
This might be my new favorite game right now. It's a funny one, I definitely see flaws that will test people's patience if they aren't into strategy rpg's or aren't able to appreciate the more goofy and unrealistic (obviously lol) aspects of the game. Also before I get into my thoughts in more detail, full disclosure, I really haven't even started the game in earnest yet. From what I understand the meat and potatoes of this game are in the chronicals mode. I'm still in the main story which so far seems to take it's time introducing you to the game. I'm only now feeling like I'm starting to take the training wheels off so to speak. I'm 17 hours in but take into account I did really take my time and do all the side content as well. All that being said here are my thoughts and why I like the game... and why you might not. This game is a strategy rpg first and for most. I'd say the game is about 70 percent strategy (training your team, gear, formations, positioning, etc) and maybe 30 percent raw skill. That's gonna kill it for some people since the game looks very actiony and flash in the trailers, that might be misleading for some, which brings me to my next point. The game really doesn't take itself too seriously. The story so far is really good (more on that in a sec) and there are some narratively serious moments, but this is a full blown balls to the wall, turn the dial up to 11, shonen battle anime themed game. Rool of cool come before anything else realism wise, and it does get pretty ridiculous lol. Personally I love that, it's refreshing to see a studio crank that shonen shananigans up to 11 without fearing what realism purists might think. This game has a vision, it knows some people will jive with it, some people won't, but it isn't afraid to be itself. So would I recommend this game? Yes, just know that the story mode is very slow gameplay wise, narratively it's pretty hit the ground running and don't stop, but the first half is almost all story with mostly just minigames, then it slowly will introduce you to the core game. Again personally I loved that they take the time to make you care about the characters and the animated cutscenes are top notch. Not exactly unexpected since studio mappa worked on it. This game really FEELS like you are a character in a shonen sports battle anime, it has a lot of heart, and if your patient it's also very engaging gameplay wise as well. There's also a LOT of content. The main story is apparently shorter but i hear the chronicals mode is 200+ hours of content and there's also competitive multiplayer as well.
