There is only one heroism in the world: to see the world as it is and to love it.

Playtime: 4.6 hrs (100% of achievements). Grindy achievement(s): None. Difficult achievement(s): None.
Overview
Impostor Factory is the third main game in the To the Moon series. It still delivers the quality art, music and characters I've come to expect from Freebird Games, but for me, it didn't have quite the same emotional impact as the games that came before it.
Should you buy this game?
Yes — if you've played the previous games and want to see where the larger story goes. Just don't expect the same emotional impact as To the Moon (see my review of To the Moon) or Finding Paradise (see my review of Finding Paradise).

In-Depth Review
Impostor Factory follows Quincy, although not quite in the way I expected. Rather than immediately meeting the characters and continuing the story I had become invested in, we follow Quincy through a simulated version of himself. This makes the game feel surprisingly different from its predecessors. It initially presents itself as a very strange murder mystery, and if you've played the previous games, some of what happens feels almost too far-fetched to take seriously. I kept wondering how any of this could possibly connect to the story I'd been following. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3787031400 The big revelation finally ties everything back into the previous games and makes it clear where this story fits into the larger picture. I really liked the revelation itself (I was sitting with my mouth wide open), but the problem for me was when it happened. The connection comes so late that I wasn't emotionally invested for most of the game. Unlike the previous games, I didn't cry this time. The story still surprised me, but it didn't have the same emotional build-up that made the previous games hit so hard. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3787032032 The quality of the art, music and characters are still fantastic. Freebird Games hasn't really made any major improvements compared to Finding Paradise, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The quality hasn't dropped, and the presentation continues to be one of the strongest parts of the series. The gameplay is also largely unchanged. The biggest difference is that there are no puzzles this time around. They were never particularly difficult in the previous games, but I actually missed having them. They gave me something small to do between the story sections, and their simplicity never bothered me. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3787031625 I strongly recommend playing the previous games before this one. At a minimum, you should have played To the Moon, Finding Paradise and Sigmund Minisode 2 (see my review of Sigmund Minisode 2). The connection to the larger story is much more impactful when you already know what came before. Impostor Factory didn't affect me in quite the same way as the previous games, but I still enjoyed seeing the series take a different approach. The mystery kept me curious, and when the big revelation finally arrived, it left me genuinely stunned.
