One of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time is now back, better than ever. Grim Fandango Remastered has the all the beautiful art and engaging story fans remember, but has also been remastered to look, sound, and control even better than the award-winning original release.

We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Reviews

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 12: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This probably would've worked more as a movie or tv series rather than videogame to tell the truth. The world building and writing itself is quite amazing. Every character is interesting and has their own charm them. The art direction is probably one of the best in gaming history. BUT... herein lies the main problem... the game mechanics SUCK. No amount of charm can outweigh the fact that this game is IMPOSSIBLE to beat or progress without a walkthrough/guide. The puzzles aren't just ridiculously hard, they make zero sense at all and have multifaceted layers to them. Considering this game came out in 98, I have zero idea how anyone managed to complete this game without tutorials. You could say that this is a skill issue (and more often than not you would be right) but this game takes it way too far. Watch someone else play it, don't bother to sift through this headache yourself.
I played this game a long time ago, it is an amazing game. Must play for those who like point & click games.
One of the best adventure point-and-clicks I've ever played ;-) The amount of humour (including dark one) and colourful sceneries is sometimes overwhelming (in a positive sence of course). The Mexican/Aztec vibe of calaca figures combined with the 'noir' atmoshpere of the 50s really does the work. The music score is absolutely fantastic, and even when I am not gaming - it's still nice to have the album playing in the background. Excellent and addictive plot line, fascinating characters, mind-bending puzzles. Just give it a try, you won't regret ;-)
Grim Fandango is a journey. You play as Manny Calavera, a death reaper. Your job is simple: guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife. If that were the entire game, it would be quite repetitive and boring, but the twist is that the souls need tickets to pass on. Those tickets have been disappearing, and it is up to us to uncover the mystery. Grim Fandango is one of those point-and-click games that embraced 3D to make things more interesting. Compared to the last game I played that made the same stylistic shift, Grim Fandango does it much better. One thing any future player should keep in mind is that this game is not easy; it will make you lose your mind trying to figure out what to do. That's why, after the first chapter, I took a very long break before tackling the second part of the story. I got so stuck that I had to distance myself from the game and come back with fresh eyes. Now I can say that the struggle was worth it, and, as reassurance, things do become easier in the latter half of the game... more or less. The art perfectly fits the game's theme. It takes you through four distinct parts of the world, each with its own identity. It's visually engaging from beginning to end. The voice acting was impeccable; the cast must have had a lot of fun recording their lines. In games like this, the dialogue has to be witty and funny, and the creators delivered exactly that. The music also never grows old or repetitive. Each location has its own theme, so whenever you move to a new screen, the music changes. It's a small detail, but one that really impressed me. I would say Grim Fandango is one of the trickiest point-and-click games I have played, but it was also immensely rewarding. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre or is looking to discover these classic adventure games.
Its a funny game but some of the puzzles are so obtuse, the forklift broke me. so buggy. This is suppose to be remaster?
A nice remastered trip into the world of the dead ;D 7 / 10 Points ... rgr&out
Truly a masterpiece of the genre. Oustanding writing, music, character- and world design and it's really funny too. It feels a tad rushed towards the end but even so, the journey and the finalé are wonderful. Some glitches might occur - dialogue might end but animations won't, the main character might hold items the wrong way, minor things like that which doesn't really spol the game. It is a must-play for all gamers and gamerettes out there.
Story's simple but compelling. A lot of the humour lands. Year 2 super uber good. Puzzles are often pretty boring. But I think in the end its worth it.
