Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Five campaign scenarios (Pre-War, 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864) and twenty (20) stand-alone battles from 1st Manassas in 1861 to Appomattox Court House in 1865.

Scott’s Great Snake: Lay siege, raid and blockade your enemy on land and sea or use blockade runners to keep the life-lines to Europe open.
From Fort Sumter to Appomattox: Watch closely the morale of your citizens and troops. As the war drags on, fervor turns to fatigue, the treasury threatens to run dry, and measures like drafting will cause unrest.

Pivotal battles: Fight battles lasting multiple days on historical battlefields. Use engineers to build pontoons and dig trenches, see reinforcements change the tide and commit your reserves to defeat the enemy.

Command Great Armies: Huge armies of infantry, cavalry and artillery, with realistic command structures and historical Order of Battle.

This is a fun Civil War game that allows the player to make national political, strategic military, and battlefield tactical decisions. It all so has the Whiskey and Lemons DLC that lets the player role play a career as an officer progressing from command of a single regiment to the command of an entire army. The AI is a little quirky, but what AI isn't.
Over 1800 hours playing this game and I can't get enough... replay ability is off the chain and this game never gets old to me. Don't make a mistake strategy wise or you will be punished. The DLC is also great!

I recommend that people wait for the developers to actually fix these issues first before they buy this game and its DLC: 1. Path-finding is retarded 2. Area of operations on the battlefield kept changing every 30 seconds until I get to the front lines and actually engage the enemy 3. Army corps AI is retarded, striking into the middle of North Carolina without establishing a supply line AND without capturing any town between Charlotte and Washington DC is obviously going to do wonders for morale /heavy-sarcasm 4. Stupidly long periods without any actual fighting: #3 happened a whole year after the Civil War started and the Army of the Potomac did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when it was sitting in front of DC before it suddenly decided to haul ass to Ohio and then charge into Charlotte. This is on aggressive AI and hard settings
I want to like this game. i want to give the work put in it, credit but wow , this game isn't user friendly. I even tried the DLC thinking " maybe if I start in a small scale this will make more sense as I move up in ranks" . Nope. My command is moving all over and my regiment is just standing around like Forest Gumps. Sorry guys. I'm sure if you invest a 1000 hours in the game it will become easy, I get it, Did it for EU4 . Dont want to do that again.
tried to fight my first battle in the game's own tutorial as the Union. Robert E Lee pops up and tells me ♥♥♥♥ about Ewell and to select Jackson and a dozen other things I can't do. Tells me to wait til 1900, I started this NON confederate battle at 0600 so its 20x while I walk across an empty map because the wait obj script refuses to let my enemy spawn. Finally get to the next day after ages of waiting and set my army up to repulse an attack, 25000 rebs walk in behind me while Robert E Lee tells me that "Thank god Ewells here" 10/10, dont bother in the slightest aom mod makes it slightly better but this game in general is just a massive bother to play
I've recently started a new campaign as the Union with version 1.1109, and the game has been so amazing. It started good at release and has improved immensely over time. I would highly recommend this game for any wargamers, especially those with an interest in the American Civil War. This wargame is second to none in my opinion, and covers both the strategic, operational and tactical levels quite well, with lots of detail. You can assign as much of the micro=management of your chosen nation as you wish, and pursue the military detailed as you wish.
It is possible to overthink a game. This game sucks. Through and through. I know what they are going for. I desperately yearn for what they are going for. But this isn't it. The best way I can describe it is this: I enjoy learning about medieval history, and I also enjoyed the first season or two of Game of Thrones (TV show). So I started reading the 1st book. 1/4 of the way through the book, I couldn't figure out why this guy wouldn't shut the ♥♥♥♥ up about "boiled leather." Every few pages, just pointing out, way in the background, boiled leather. Yeah man, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ assumed that. Anyway, if you liked the boiled leather parts of Game of Thrones, I guess maybe you will like this. It is also laggy as hell, and I have a decent rig. It'd be 1 thing if it sucked. But to make me wait 2 minutes to load the next thing that sucks? ♥♥♥♥ you.
Overall, I would recommend this game, but not for people looking for challenging battles. I bought this game when it was new and still play it now and then. Overall, I enjoy the game design. I like how the game isn't about just fighting historical battles and how you have to make policy choices that effect fiances, ability to manufacture or buy weapons, organize your armies, etc. The overall battle mechanism is well thought out. The only real flaw, and its a big one, is the enemy battle AI. Even on the hardest difficulty settings, I've never had a game go past the second year and never get to explore many of the later policy options. To do so, I literally would have to nerf myself or only autoresolve every conflict. I can reliably fight battles where my army is only 60% of the enemy army and still pull out a win if the armies aren't too small where I can have a reserve to swap with my front line. Normally my games end due to enemy morale falling too far due to losing too many battles with few wins. There have been a couple of updates to make it harder early on to win as easy as it once was, this is still something that needs work 4 years on as my recent play has shown.
This game is hopelessly too hard and even after playing all the historical battles to improve my skills I was unable to successfully complete the Grad Campaign. This is on easiest setting. Furthermore to show that the game is not working as intended when choosing the setting AI as passive, they still attack you immediately as soon as the war part of the campaign starts. Easy and passive should be just that and the more difficult settings should be used for the serious gamers who like the challenge. Clearly the programmers did not know what they were doing when it came to the settings and difiiculty levels. I would not recommend this game for anyone who just wants to have some fun and who is not a serious gamer. I will definitely not buy the expansion and never again will I buy an American Civil War game again unless it is part of the Total War Franchise or the Age of Empires Franchise. For the programmers of Total War and AOE, please seriously consider bringing the North vs South Civil War into your franchise as it will be a big hit and then at least we will have a Civil War Game worth playing and which could actually be enjoyed.
