Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 16 → 5.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

you are sacrificing an extra 40GB space and a lot of thematic details as well and an advisor VA just to be able to run the game at a decent framerate and resolution, while also having the worst UI imaginable
Of course, we must remaster games because it's free money. But is Rome Remastered actually any good? Not really. Rome Remastered represents an incredible opportunity to fix the problems which always plagued the original. But we find that nothing has been done. The unit control is the same. Pathfinding issues will persist. Larger unit sizes are much more immersive and fun to play with on the field, but you'll want to end it all when you take them to sieges. I love waiting thirty minutes for my scythed chariots to figure out how to leave gates, or for my units to get onto or off of the walls. This is a huge and obvious problem that was simply ignored completely. Somehow, the UI of the game has actually gotten worse. I'm not really sure how they managed this feat, but I must admit, it is rather impressive. Not only that, but the original UI can't be used, sorry! The game has introduced new and exciting bugs. As far as anyone can tell, they will never be fixed. A few highlights: units dying after exiting siege towers; the AI being allowed to attack you when on siege defense, do nothing resulting in a draw, and then instantly attacking you again (essentially a soft lock - you have only the options to lift the siege or try to take the whole town); certain towers (like Egyptian towers) not working; missing unit models (still have nightmares about those magical Armenians who can ride invisible horses); random crashes. These will never be fixed. Anyway, if you can find a way to play the original Rome Total War without having to buy this remaster, that is your best option. Creative Assembly have managed to tarnish the reputation of their best product with this shameful emission. Do not encourage this behavior with your money.
Inferior to the original version in my opinion. UI is horrendous by comparison and the map has been updated to look very cartoony.

Pointless remake. The things that could have been improved are ignored, and the things that are 'improved' are somehow made worse. The graphics look like a cartoon filter or some kind of whiteboard program you would have seen in school. The UI was fine before. Why would I want to see my spies every time I click on a city? I'm there to build and recruit, not check on the counterspy I put there 50 turns ago. He's doing fine. He knows his way around the place. For some reason, a horse that was standing still moments ago has the force of a jet fighter once it has moved forwards by one meter, literally sending people into the air, and they can even jump over the pikes into the middle of a phalanx and break apart the whole thing, because apparently a middle-class Greek soldier was never taught how to turn around. Pathfinding is abysmal, though this may have been part of the original. Something as simple as going through a gate apparently causes a unit so much trouble, requiring them to walk ten metres ahead and then run back to the point you actually told them to walk to. It just doesn't capture what we felt with the original. So much opportunity wasted. Though, really, I suppose it's my fault for using a key. And yes I did write this after an enemy general sent an entire unit of Hastati flying
Awful , worse than the original!! which was great. its just a cash in without fixing problems typical of creative assembly under sega sadly.
In game Wiki and additional information tab is completely broken and bugged. They are not fixing it and its been broken for years, completely immersion breaking and a clear lack of intelligence and effort on the devs part. Imagine releasing a remaster that is worse than the original. Find a key for the original Rome Totalwar, avoid this one like the diseased mess it is. Its been abandoned, no more fixes coming, just another company handing a beloved IP over to a third company to put in minimum effort, change things needlessly and cash in on nostalgia. Also near 50 gigs? And it takes longer to load than Warhammer Totalwar 3 to boot... The game looks better but plays worse, I don't think its been a fair exchange in that regard. Some great modern features added and then horrible modern "features" added too. The UI is complete and utter trash, instead of stream lining the game its made it harder to navigate and see things on the fly, needing multiple menus to click through to do something which would have been two clicks in the original. Family tree isnt even a tree properly and is VERY hard to read who is related to who in a bigger picture. I wanted to love this, but its MID and since its been dropped like a used condom in a public sand pit then left, it will simply serve to sicken us all and make us have to keep our kids away from the sand pit we loved as kids. Shame.
the ui is so bad, even at 120% scaled feel like i need prescription glasses and if i could see it, still looks terrible and confusing original was intuitive and pleasing this is a mess
A UI so bad it needs a remaster of the remaster already. Controls that glitch out , UI resolution issue and an AI worse than GROK. I had rose tinted glasses on this one.
