About
You are a Living Spark surviving inside fragile wooden vessels that splinter, collapse, and catch fire. When your vessel breaks, the Spark escapes. Death is just a change of scenery.
Ride a cursed elevator into shifting underground ruins with your crew. Smash furniture for resources or feed them into the Grinder for gold. If everyone breaks, your loot is lost.
Trolling can become your friend’s demise. Dropkick enemies or “accidentally” launch your ally’s Spark out of their vessel. Block them in a monster-infested corridor or get stuck in the crossfire. Will your group handle the chaos you created yourselves?
The deeper you go, the worse the Rot becomes. Bodies warp. Voices distort. Emotes become…worse. Or possibly better?
The Deep Layers are filled with Corrupted vessels, reacting to sound, movement, and each other in ways that are impossible to predict. Fight. Build. Run. Panic.
When your vessel breaks, you stay in the run as a Spark. Guide your team through the dark and search for another host with a new set of abilities. Force your way back in before you fade out completely.
Everything you haul back rebuilds your Outpost. Unlock interactive furniture, stat upgrades, rescued survivors, and stranger ways to survive the next descent. The stronger the outpost becomes, the deeper you can afford to go.
Go deeper. Extract more. Leave someone behind. Make it back and build together.
Or don’t come back at all.

An enjoyable gameplay loop with a macabre vibe. I delight in squirting myself with glue and taking a sawblade to enemy monsters. Very fun with a friend (or three) while also being something I enjoy running solo. I'm a fan!

this game makes me feel like im still in my hometown: full of danger, entities and tons of valuable items can be stolen. every night... i mean run is filled with chaos and endless oppurtunities. when you kinda reach the end game you dont feel scared or worried to go down that elevator cause you become the danger itself for entitites. 10/10 Adana Experince
I find the game enjoyable. I like that progression is connected to decorating, since I like doing it in games but usually it's (gameplay-wise) a complete waste of resources. Though it would be nice to be able to lock objects in place, since it's easy to knock them around accidentaly. Ask me how I know... I also like that you can still do things and contribute if your body is destroyed in the dungeon. I think it's worth the money, at least I had a lot of fun playing with my friend. However, I agree with other reviews that it should absolutely be marked as early access. The story ends abruptly and there is a third floor blocked off with no resolution. It could also be nice to be able to unlock more new abilites and tools, like the upgrading machine. I am currently letting it rest while waiting for updates. Also, I feel like the name of "grain rot" will just date the game very quickly when the meme dies. It is kind of funny that your emotes change, but most of them are already stale...
This so far has been the most solid introduction to a small indie game I've experienced in a long time. Less than 2 hours in and Grain Rot has shown it has an identity and strong personality. I like how well polished the game feels and I can tell there was strong consideration for the player experience. I definitely recommend it.
Good Dollar Per Hour game. Pretty much at the end in 10 hours with maximum goofing off. Have a room full of plants. Thats neat. Its like a jungle. Then I dropped kicked my friend through it and lost 3 room levels. Would do it again.
Incredibly fun and once you understand how stealth works it's a blast! It's so nerve wrecking when you go solo or even with friends to the dungeons that you never feel unstoppable (until you unlock better upgraded weapons but even then, there's still limited durability. There's a lot to sink your teeth into, all dungeons appear randomly generated with different rooms, traps and secrets with a random set of 3 "fuses" that determine what your dungeon could have (good, bad, nothing). You can customise your base to your liking and can level up each room to get a "permanent" (you could always destroy your furniture to reduce level lol) buff to your stamina, speed, health, crit chance etc. I very much recommend this game with friends but -can- be played solo, infact you can even go on a quick in and out dungeon crawl to grab scrap while someone stays home to build furniture and stuff. It's a short game with a short basic story. The meat and potatoes is in the dungeon crawling to get gold and scrap. I would like them to add more as when you've got your rooms levelled up high and have plenty of weapons with enhancements you feel like you've done everything. More furniture, more tools/weapons, more customization options too but honestly there's plenty here. The game does feel unfinished due to 3rd floor being inaccessible though but leaves the door open for future content hopefully soon. They could even add randomly generated quests for the other robots in your base or perhaps random encounters underground.
Took me 11h to fully explore everything that this game offers. Reminded me of a classic xbox360 game. Pros: -story is simple but interesting -ability to do anything OTHER than gatherng loot -a couple of new ideas never seen before in this genre -music boxes (black and green) Cons: -not as scary as some other titles -items that you gather feel clunky to carry -playable maps are quite short (not the lethal type) There is a lot of potential here. If they add more story line, scarrier monsters, more mini body types(goats, monkey etc) and other small fixes it will be 10/10 At a current state its more like 7/10 if you get it on sale
