Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I never figured out how to enjoy this game. Also the CEO of the company is a real piece of work. Be careful with your money.

I would describe this game as a good entering point to 4x. It has a learning curve, but if you're remotely familiar with strategy games it's fairly intuitive. If you're not familiar with them, it's not so convoluted that you'll be spending hours looking at a manual, guide or wiki. It has your standard offerings, a few campaigns, a good amount of diplomacy options (though games do tend to come down to war), tech tree, resource management, sandbox mode (lots of customisation for maps), plenty of races, different map sizes, different victory options to choose from, but it has some nice features on top of those. The ability to create/customise your own race, design your own ships for both looks and armaments, and mod support. There's a few things I find somewhat annoying like keeping ships up to date, in particular with the player made variety. But if you've ever wanted to get into a space 4x then you can't really go wrong with this one. If you're already well established in these types of games then you're not likely to be challenged, but there's still fun to be had. In particular if the ship designs uploaded to the workshop interest you. Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica etc. is all represented by various talented creators. One thing to note, my review above is based on owning the dlc. I find that the Crusade expansion in particular leads to an improved and superior experience then the base game. Something to keep in mind. For you achievement hunters out there, you'll need majority of the dlc, but the achievements themselves are relatively easy to get. There is however an achievement for playing 1000 hours so worth noting going in so you're not shocked later.
Like a cross between civilization and stellaris, but more on the civilization side
When this game first came out, it was barren, dry, and shallow. I personally waited 5 to 7 years before really getting into it. After getting all of the DLC and installing a few mods, I can say this is one of the best 4x Space Strategy games ever made, but it was a long road getting here. The game has plenty of depth now with the Intrigue, Crusade, and Retribution DLCs installed. The campaigns are mediocre - the sandbox mode is where the game truly shines. And this is important: the game starts up quickly, loads games quickly and smoothly, has never crashed a single time, and runs like silk even into the late game, unlike Stellaris and many other 4x Space Strategy games which take forever to load, crash often in the late game, and slow down to a crawl even on a high-end PC. Galactic Civilizations had its flaws, but for those who enjoy a smooth and clean experience it has become the standard.
Hate to say it but I found the game tedious and boring. And nonsensical.
dont waste the money just get stellaris
I've always been a fan. Owned Galciv 1, 2, 3, and soon 4. Put it on steam, bitter.
a little tedious gameplay , graphics are behnd the times, but game is relaxing . I can be played off an on over time and becomes a nice outlet during school breaks.
