Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 13 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

In spite of Planetfall's vastly increased options when it comes to units, army compositions and therefore tactical/strategical gameplay options, making it clearly superior to AoW 3 in those regards, the game suffers from a couple of seemingly inane design choices/bugs. "Late" game versus hardest difficulty AI opponents is not just a slog to get through combat (as Ai gets broken ressource boni at highest diff), but much more importantly turns can take DOZEN of minutes to parse, if multiple AIS decide to wage war against each other. being able to instantly buy-out units is a double edged sword already, add in Planetsfall design choice to allow a player to just spent ALL their avaialbe money on buying units during a SINGLE turn breaks the game when AI has 100x income. I'm not exaggerating when I say my last turn (turn 93) on a large skirmish map (won on turn start trhough alternative win-con (DoomsDay)) took 90 mins to parse because two Ais decided to declare war on eather and started to not only spam buying units but also, annoyingly, moving said units a single unit at a time instead of moving the whole stack. Factions being able to increase their unit count from maybe 50-ish to multiple hundreds during a single turn thanks to buy-out is outright broken and completly invalidates any sort of gameplay options apart from hyper aggression on hitherto unknown levels. I really love the basis of the modular system aswell as the combo of race x doctrine (although honestly quite similar to Aow 3 classes), but the abhorrent gameplay on very high diffuclties (required if you I want to challegne myself to a certain degree) just sucks all the fun out of the game for me. it really took me a lot of time to actually come around playing Planetfall after AoW 3 (one of my favourite games ever), but after merely 30 hours (without turn time inflation) I#m already burned out. Not really looking forward to try out Aow 4 now. Sad

Same as the third game. Throws a login section first thing when you hit start. I have a steam account, i have the game on steam and that's all i need to start the game and play it. I don't need to be stopped by the third party account police and asked for my id so they can steal my data.
Originally, I wasn't going to recommend this game because it didn't meet my expectations as a Paradox game, or as a complex 4X game. If you're expecting a typical Paradox deep grand strategy game, this definitely isn't for you. DO NOT PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME USING AUTO COMBAT, OR YOU WILL HATE THIS GAME. That was my initial mistake. Once I was able to manage my expectations, Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a very good game. So if it's not a grand strategy game, what kind of game is it? There are strategy elements, but most of the choices are no-brainers on that level. Just blob and grow as fast as you can, while ensuring you have a strong enough army to explore the map and defend your territory. However, where the game really shines is in its tactical combat. Each faction uses its own units; each faction has its own heroes; each leader has a different secret technology (which customizes 1/4th of their military tech tree); each unit has its own abilities. If that's not enough customization for you, you can also research mods to kit out your soldiers. Even better, you can find special weapons and equipment specifically designed for heroes by exploring the world map. If you don't have hero weapons/equipment, you can outfit them with normal equipment available to your regular troops that you've researched in the military tech tree. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be nearly as much variety with the navies as there is with land units--although to be fair, if you consider infantry, vehicles, tanks and air force to be separate unit types then naval units have a similar level of diversity. Units can also gain combat experience and improve their skills. Regular units improve base stats, while heroes can be customized when they level up. There are dozens upon dozens of different combat maps. Each map presents different tactical challenges. Environmental objects can be used as cover, but they can also be destroyed. So if your enemy tries to hunker down behind a building, send a grenadier to blow up the building with a rocket! But be careful, because your opponent can do the same thing to you. If you treat this game as a tactical combat game, more along the lines of X-Com than say, Civilization, Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a wonderful title that will provide you with a great many hours of entertainment.
need to start requiring refunds for games like this that add a third party account after the fact. this is one of the reasons off the top of my head steam will be sued in the future. "only 15% of play time was spent on newer games" gee. wiz... i wonder why when the companies keep changing the eula to cause denial of service issues if you wont let them sell your data. almost like the industry is better off without all of them for a reason.
nice game but paradox launcher is garbage bloatware
The game play i got to enjoy was very good..... HOWEVER, this game still suffers from an "endless turn cycle" AI bug and it can cripple your game at any turn. after digging about on;line for a fix i found that this has been its curse since 2019. Posting in 2023 if its not fixed buy now then its never going to be fixed!! shame really is i do enjoy games like this,
Planetfall is tied (and likely exceeds) III as my favorite Age of Wonders game. Planetfall could easily be a desert island game for me. I am quite saddened that Planetfall never gained traction or a sizable following...making a follow-up seem less likely or financially viable. Age of Wonders 4 with its excessive focus on customization and lack of meaningful race/faction identities hasn't grabbed me as much. Each game of 4 feels very flat and similar. I'll keep giving 4 a try though.
Initially I could not afford the new AofW4 so I bought Planetfall instead. LOVE THIS GAME! A unique and successful mix of turn based strategy, with civilization-like game and RPG - all my favorite genres together! From the art, lore through variety of playstyles and replayability it is a well made game. I especially enjoy playing its biggest maps with the most AI players. Different factions of this game have different strengths and weaknesses, so a big game keeps you awake and challenged. Exploration is fun, expansion and conquest are rewarding. Love that taking over other faction's city gives you access to their tech tree, increasing your options for units building. This in return expands your options and styles in fighting battles. The campaign in AoW Planetfall is just fantastic! You have a chance to play every faction and they way they are introduced makes you fall in love with all of them. And the campaign has multiple ways and outcomes to finalize it. My first exposure to the Age of Wonders franchise and its overwhelmingly positive!
Just leaving this here because i dont want anyone else to buy this game the way it is now and then have the same issue. Basically if you buy planetfall now youll never be able to play it as for some reason now, when the game launches, it opens in a windowed mode. which isnt the problem. The problem is because the game opens this way, it doesnt register your mouse cursor for some reason in the correct spot so theres no way to click on anything. If you put your mouse cursor off to the bottom right edge of the screen you can get to like the third option after continue game but not able to get to the options to try and fix it. I tried in various ways to report the issue and got zero response from either triumph or paradox and quite frankly i dont expect to get any because the last update for this game i believe was somewhere in 2023. And this review is also being placed here because since my game is effectively unusable and unplayable to some weird bug the devs are never going to address, i attempted to get a refund. And yes, i know with my hours im well over the 2 hour refund window and yes i know i purchased the game years ago so im also past the normal time limit in days as well. But its just kind of BS that a game i spent money on i cant play now because of some issue i didnt cause and that the devs wont fix because they dont support the game any more. Don't want anyone to see this on sale, then buy it and go to start it up to find they cant even play the game. Otherwise this review wouldnt exist. And yes i'm very openly being a man karen about this. bite me.
The game let me buy the season pass even though it was pulled. After purchase it only gave me revelations. Screw that... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scammers.
