About
The truth is in the details.
In Forensics: Crime Scene Detective, you are the scientific authority that provides investigators with the facts. Your work begins when the sirens fade and silence settles over the crime scene.

With a cool head and a trained eye, you enter apartments, bars, and basements where something unimaginable has happened — or is said to have happened. Equipped with professional tools, you search for what others miss: a subtle fingerprint on a wine glass, a deleted message on a smartphone, a tiny blood spatter that casts doubt on a statement.

From Crime Scene to Laboratory:
Securing evidence is only the beginning. In the lab, the evidence tells its story. You compare DNA profiles, reconstruct bullet trajectories, decrypt digital devices, and piece together fragments into a clear overall picture. Your analyses incriminate perpetrators — or exonerate the innocent. Not every bloody crime scene is a murder. And not everything that seems obvious is the truth.

“Based on the experience and insights of experts from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP).”
With professional guidance from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate, the game portrays forensic work as authentically as possible. Experience cases drawn from real life: sober, logical, and relentless in their evaluation of evidence. Find the traces. Analyze the facts. Reveal the truth.

Realistic Forensics:
Use authentic tools such as DNA swabs, fingerprint powder, ballistic trajectory rods, and digital forensic tools.
16 authentic Cases, Real Methods:
Missions are inspired by real scenarios and based on the experience and insights of real experts from the State Criminal Police Office Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP).
Crime Scene Work & Laboratory Analysis:
The gameplay loop challenges you twice — first through meticulous crime scene investigation, then through logical data analysis in the lab.
Incriminate or Exonerate:
Your work determines the fate of suspects. Discover whether it was self-defense, murder, an accident, or a staged crime scene.
Your Instinct Matters:
You decide which traces are relevant. Overlooked evidence can leave a case unsolved.

I was excited for this but it is extremely short, extremely hands on and pretty much everything is obvious to the point where theres no real investigation. All you do is collect and analyze stuff and make absolutely 0 decision as to the outcome which is outsourced to an npc based on the analysis you submit. feels less like a full game and more so like an extended tutorial or proof of concept for a future game. Overall wouldnt recommend in its current state unless more content comes out with much more complex scenes.
I really enjoy this game, I see some people saying there arent a lot of cases, if you receive less than a 75 on any case some cases wont show up. There is a lack of hand holding in this game which is really nice.

its pretty good and runs decent but the lack of missions is sad at the current state the photos of the game make it look like theres 10+ missions but ingame theres 4 tut missions and 3 real missions i really hope we get more
8/10 would recommend this game. I have a background in law enforcement on patrol and have worked on/ assisted detectives collecting evidence and processing a crime scene quite a few times. I am typically pretty harsh on any movie/ or games that emulate law enforcement as most things with it are deeply misunderstood or embellished for views or simplicity sake. All that being said, this game takes things that are actually done and represent them fairly well. I do not have experience in the lab side of things, however I will say that this game does well in making the field side of things a very slow and methodical process that requires some semblance of attention to detail. I understand and appreciate that the game does simplify things to an extent that do not require a forensics degree and still represent it in a way that does give a basic level of understanding to those who may have recently fostered an interest in CSI. Now, on to the developer. I must say I am deeply impressed by the developer's speedy responses to bug complaints in the community discussion section. Nearly every time I have seen a discussion (including one of my own) about a bug issue, they are extremely fast to respond and make an update to fix the issue (in my case, rolling out an update within 20 minutes of my post). Overall I would rate my experience with the developer at a 10/10.
After playing through the tutorial and first missions, overall I just find the game mundane and lacking depth. From my experience, I could not find any way to change the graphics settings and on top of that there was obvious mouse smoothing which could not be disabled, which made controlling the game a nightmare. I decided in the end to refund the game as it just didn't seem worth the price with how much content there is. I'd maybe recommend the game if it was 75% off but any more than that it just isn't worth it.
I’m a huge fan of Dexter. I’ve watched everything by now and it’s still a bit of an obsession of mine. This time, I got the chance to step into the shoes of a forensic investigator myself in Forensics: Crime Scene Detective (I guess the serial killer role will have to wait). The game is developed by Binary Impact and Alchemical Works and published by Aerosoft GmbH.
What is the game about?
I can make all these Dexter references, but what is the game actually about? In this game, you play as the forensic specialist who provides investigators with the facts. You investigate apartments, bars and basements where something unimaginable has happened. But what exactly? That’s for you to figure out. Using professional equipment, you search for clues that everyone else has missed. Think of a subtle fingerprint on a wine glass, a deleted message on a smartphone or a tiny blood stain that puts a witness statement into question. Back in the lab, you compare DNA profiles, reconstruct bullet trajectories, analyse digital devices and put all the puzzle pieces together. The fun part is that your analyses can either expose the culprit or prove that a suspect is actually innocent.
How realistic is the game?
The developers claim that the game is based on the experience and expertise of specialists from the State Criminal Police Office of Rhineland-Palatinate (LKA RLP). I honestly don’t know enough about that to say how realistic it really is. I do think it’s a cool addition that, according to the developers, the cases are inspired by real-life events. Whether that’s actually true is obviously not something I can verify myself. According to the developers, the game contains 14 cases to investigate. During these investigations you’ll use tools such as DNA tests, fingerprint powder, ballistic equipment and digital forensic analysis. The evidence you collect is then examined further in the laboratory.
My experience
I think collecting evidence feels very realistic and because of that the game really stands out from other detective games. You’re not just playing a police officer, you’re actually searching for clues the way a forensic investigator would. At least, that’s how I imagine the job works. The focus is much more on the science behind the investigation than on the violence itself. The laboratory also looks well designed and believable. What I did miss was some kind of system that gives you a bit more guidance. I found the interface quite unclear, confusing and sometimes even a little illogical. I don’t know if that’s just me or if it’s something more people struggle with. Personally, I would have loved a difficulty setting like Trainee or Sherlock. If you pick Trainee, for example, the game could give you more support by asking things like: “Have you photographed all the evidence?” Because of that, I sometimes felt like I was trying to figure out what the game wanted from me instead of actually solving a crime. Of course, games are supposed to be challenging, but I’m not really experienced with games like this. I play plenty of simulation games, but not many where you constantly have to think of every next step yourself. That’s why I really missed some sort of permanent tutorial or assistant. Because of this, I only ended up playing for about two hours, even though I actually wanted to spend a lot more time with it. One thing I do really like is that the game lets you make mistakes. You can actually come to the wrong conclusion, and I think that’s a really good design choice. The game also feels pretty short. I only came across three or four actual cases, which gave me around four hours of gameplay.
Conclusion
I think Forensics: Crime Scene Detective has a lot of potential. The forensic investigation feels realistic, and the focus on collecting and analysing evidence makes it stand out from many other detective games. I also like that you’re allowed to make mistakes instead of always ending up with the correct answer. That being said, the game didn’t fully manage to keep me hooked. The unclear interface and the lack of guidance often left me wondering what I was supposed to do next. On top of that, the game felt quite short. I would’ve loved to spend more time with it, but after a few hours I already felt like I’d seen most of what it had to offer. If you’re into forensic investigation or you’re a Dexter fan like me, I think you’ll probably enjoy this game. Just don’t expect a huge amount of content, and be prepared to figure out a lot of things by yourself. I really hope the developers continue to expand the game, because in my opinion the foundation is definitely there.
The most accurate forensics game I've ever played which is refreshing when a lot of games have such unrealistic ideas of how forensics work. I've seen some of the negative comments talking about how there's not enough deduction or investigation but that's not the job of a forensic scientist/specialist, their job is to collect and analyse evidence and then pass it to the investigators to use. I've managed to rack up 12.5 hours in two days on this game and the only disappointing thing so far is that I wish there were more cases, which considering there's already 14 is a really good sign that this game is great.
I absolutely love the concept of this game, however the naming of evidences can get confusing as well as the tutorial can be slightly confusing, being a person who has played over 100 investigation games this was quite disappointing. while doing the tutorial i didnt realize i had started a case and finshed it, i thought i was still doing the tutorial. the 2 cases that were given to us were not involved at all, Very disappointed as i was really looking forward to some long and indepth cases. I do hope more cases will be added soon as i finished the game in under 3 hours
It's ok, It's what it advertises being, a game about being a forensic specialist. There is a Caveat for my recommendation (outside of balancing the scales abit):
You are NOT a detective
You just there to collect evidence, process them (matching with known stuff), so someone else does the investigation and conclusions. Don't expect any grand long term cases, or deal something like Zodiac Killer. Majority of the cases are just burglaries, threats or similar and very much open and shut. Infact there was only one case that was related to a previous case, but otherwise its just "stuff of the day". Its just busy work. Documenting Evidence at the Scene, Finding and Dusting Fingerprints, Collecting and Processing Samples and Electronics, Matching Ballistics and checking Trajectories, etc. Pretty much what it is on the tin, Forensics: Collecting Evidence, Assembling the Crime Scene, so someone else can connect the dots. Beat it in roughly 7-8 hours. IMO my main gripe was placing the placards and taking pictures of it alot of the last few cases had evidence clustered in really tight places which made taking pictures extremely difficult while maintaining the constraint of one placard and one evidence, when in some later cases (Keyword: case with a barrel and another case with a safe) the pictures were accepted regardless of so many placards and evidence in frame, it was very inconsistent. And if I removed placards, sometimes the assignment was lost after I had taken pictures. The Amount of back and forth from the camera/placard box in these cases became quite ridiculous. There should be a way of moving existing placards after you placed them than discard and replace, before one takes a picture of it. After all, a forensic expert should have two hands, and cameras can be worn on the neck with a lanyard. My second gripe is that as soon as the areas are widened, there are only 1-2 cases where the evidence is no longer in the main area of the crime it self. This is logical yes if evidence if being hidden, but after few casese before such happens its kind of annoying especially when its not mentioned anywhere in the help guide, and its not inherently clear that such is possible in the game. Imo it should have been established early in the game, maybe in even in training. Outside of that Had some bugs which the developers fixed the next day quickly (had an area be inaccessible, which had a critical evidence) or some finger print features not being recognized even though the print was clear. The game clearly is trying something different, and Would like to see more similar, if a bit improved mechanically prior to any dlc with new cases
