Fun puzzle game with nice graphics.

Went into this expecting a cute little game about exploring the subconscious mind of an anxious man. Left with an entire music discography stuck in my head and a newfound appreciation for evil musical numbers as a boss fight mechanic, which is not a sentence I expected to type in my life. When one of the opps, Plague showed up, it absolutely ended me. That song is unreasonably catchy for something coming out of a walking embodiment of sickness and despair, and I caught myself humming it while doing chores completely unrelated to fighting my own anxiety manifested as a creature. So naturally I did what any normal person would do and googled who actually sang it, fully expecting a guy being silly in the recording booth but instead I found Carmy from the bear if he took all the drugs and was asked to sing and came up with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6MUDmB7oNQ

I found this game hard to review with a thumbs up or down. I am giving it a thumbs up because I, in the end, I did enjoy it. These are my types of relax games, between the bigger titles. This game has all the earmarks of these causal puzzle games. Puzzles, boss fights, story. Oddly something early on in the game did not grip me, but I stuck with it and found it endearing.

Only have 17 minute play time because i originally played this via xbox gamepass but if you are seeing this and thinking about getting the game, BUY IT. if you like puzzles and combat, this is a VERY good game for you, voice acting may be a bit rusty for piper and dusty, maybe also the main nightmare, but besides that this game is REALLY GOOD. please also check out the sequel, its very fun as well.

暖かみのある手書きのビジュアルと、ミュージカルを謳ってあるようにいろんなところに音楽が溢れていて、SEも気持ちよく、好きな世界観でした。パズルや戦闘の難易度自体は易しい方なので、気楽に楽しめるのではないかと思います。 ムービーや概要をしっかり見ていればわかると思いますが、重いテーマを織り込んであるので、ただ明るい絵本というわけではありません。 ただ一部、歩けるところとそうでないところの区別がわかりにくいところがあり、パズル要素以外のところで躓いて時間がかかった場面がありました。 [spoiler] ゲームクリア後に攻略を見ながら残りの記憶の回収を進めましたが、他のフィールドでアイテムを持ってこないといけないところもあるのに、フィールド内の移動もフィールド間の移動にも時間がかかるので、残り2個を残して諦めました。 ストーリーの関係もあって難しいのかもしれませんが、クリア後くらいはせめてマップを見られるようにしたり、フィールド間をワープできるような形で動きやすくしてほしかったです。 記憶を全回収してもエンディングは変わらないのに、世界観をもっと理解したい気持ちで回収に踏み切りましたが、残念でした。[/spoiler]

Cute short platform puzzle with the classic go inside the subconscious mind trope and story. Not very long but I think just the right amount. Very linear but some of the puzzles did actually get me to stop and figure out a bit visually and logically. Well done and nothing is tedious or just "random chance luck would be the only way you could solve it" type of puzzles. The scenery is really pretty and really unique. worth just the right amount of time and money for me spent on this.
