Feria d'Arles

Excellent little adventure game. Puzzles aren't TOO wacky which is a trap some games can fall into, and if you like pixel art it's a real treat!

Feria d’Arles is one of my most commonly recommended comedy adventure games. I think this is a great entry point to the genre even if you don’t have much experience with it. We play as Molly, a young girl who arrives in the city of Arles in the south of France with the goal of becoming a great bullfighter. Unfortunately, as Molly is just a young girl, we need to explore the town looking for a way to bamboozle the staff into letting her give the whole bullfighting thing a go. Molly is just a lovely protagonist and it is impossible not to like her. She is deeply rooted in adventure game tradition, and her reactions and her animations help her sparkle off of the screen. The game as a whole packs a ton of charm and joy into a really small package. It’s not a long game but It is a delightful little diversion that can be completed in a single sitting or two. It’s also perfect for streaming if you are into that sort of thing. The puzzles in Feria d’Arles are actually a little on the tricky side. This is mitigated by the fact that the game is so small. There’s only a handful of rooms to explore and not a crazy ton of hotspots items, so all of the game’s puzzles can eventually be worked out without too much issue. This is a fantastic game to add to your collection, especially at such a reasonable price point. I strongly recommend giving it a go.

I bought this game because i actually live in Arles and I was curious. It's a fun little game and i enjoyed playing it. I need to tell you though, before you get stuck, there is one (and only one) event in the game for which you need to perform the same action 3 times in a row. It got me stuck for quite some time, and i had to look up the answer. Now the perspective of an actual citizen of Arles : This has little to do with the real feria d'Arles. We don't play bagpipes but rather brasses and drums, the streets are full of people eating, drinking and singing. And at the end of the Bullfight the bull gets turned into delicious steak. (But i understand how this needed to remain family friendly). Some things were accurate though, the obelisque, the amphitheatre, the street merchant selling feria related stuff, and mostly the Pastis (a lot of Pastis). Overall i'm happy i bought this game, i had a fun time even though it's a bit short

A short, but sweet story about a little girl who wants to become the most famous Matador in France. I'd bought this game a while ago and got around to playing it today. While there's only 6 locations you can wander about in (not counting the endgame), there is plenty to do in those screens. The locations and characters are very well-drawn and nicely animated - anybody who liked Day of the Tentacle will feel very much at home with the art style of Feria d'Arles. I also really enjoyed the backpack inventory screen with large custom graphics for every item you collect The story is quite well done (one has to wonder about the wisdom of Molly's father, considering what he told his daughter in the intro - it's a good thing she wasn't listening to that, being too enthralled by the idea of Marie Esperanto) and the puzzles are nice and sensible, if you've paid attention to the clues given by the characters. I appreciate the lack of "dead man walking" scenarios. It's a little short, but definitely worth the asking price (or more) considering how much love has obviously gone into making the game. I'm definitely hoping there will indeed be a sequel, as is hinted to in the end screens!

Feria d'Arles is a delight. It's a super oldskool point-and-click adventure game for adventure game fans. You are thrown straight into the puzzling without much setup. The game is very short and very small - only about 5 locations - but that helps to ease the pain of what could be some typically absurd solutions. There's only so much stuff to try to use with other stuff, and although it's ridiculous in real life it all makes sense in slapstick point-and-click land. The main character is a cheery young tourist who wants to take part in a bullfight. Her nemesis is a hapless mayor and (eventually) the bull. The jokes come thick and fast, nothing drags out, and before long you're running from the law with a snazzy new haircut, the end. Great fun.

A lovely little game that's less than the price of a coffee. Took me about one hour and twenty minutes to complete. Very reminiscent of the Lucasarts glory days with a lot of charm and humour.

Excellent game, great mechanics. This punny and cute game is very much reminiscent of old 90's point and click adventure games in the style of LucasArts. The puzzles are intricate and complicated, but not too complicated that it makes the game hard. I would highly reccommend playing this game. It's short, but well worth your time!

"Oh, hey, this is kinda ni- WHOA THAT'S IT?!" This game wanted itself to be longer. Witty writing, adorable animation, great music and a premise that could yield more than what the creators ended up constraining themselves to. I choose to see this not as a point and click adventure that is missing everything but the very first act, but as one of the most competent Flash games ever created.
