EA Review Aug 17th Has good bones but needs a lot of work. I played it through twice and here are my thoughts after the second playthrough: Pros: - Great atmosphere - Melee combat is really fun and the physics are great - Mixing potions is flexible and doesn't require specific recipes - Pacing seems fine & some challenging bosses - Kicking enemies if fun - Large skilltree - The rat is an interesting companion. Not the cute-cuddly type you are used to in games. Cons: - The main character acts like a jerk to the rat for no apparent reason - EA doesn't let you advance far enough in the skill tree to get anything really cool - EA is way too short, I beat the second playthrough in 1 hour. - There is are several enemies/bosses/environments shown in the trailer that just aren't in EA yet. - There are basically 2 bosses in EA and both perform moves that just constantly stagger you. This gets kind of annoying when you are just trying to block and counter. Also, they telegraph their moves and lock onto you no matter if you dodge and this feels unfair if you are dodging right before their attacks. This makes you just want to stay completely away from them instead of actually trying combat them without cheesing the fight. - Magic is way too weak and draining to be effective in combat. It's also hard to tell if your magic is effective or not. You can shoot someone with a fireball or ice and they will just shrug it off sometimes. There is also a wind push which is no better than your kick move. - Using potions/vials in combat is too slow. It's almost just better to use the ingredients without mixing because they are near instant. Using a potion/vial takes several seconds and that's bad in combat and you'll usually only get staggered or hit doing so. - No way to counter (or block) long range enemies and they are always in the background sniping you during close quarters combat with other enemies Overall, I think the game will eventually be really good so I'll recommend it, but there are some major issues that do need addressed. Due to the length of the EA, I'm no sure it's worth buying quite yet unless you just want to support it. Otherwise let it cook a few more updates out.

I saw too late there is no controller support. I can't play with mouse and kee+yboard anymore.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
did not enjoy and didn't make it far in the game before I uninstalled game is basically a darksouls with no way to change difficulty. Very unforgiving combat wise and too fast paced. Too many enemies at once and no armor upgrades for survivability accept a helmet before the tutorial and then there is nothing at all until what I'm guessing is after the first dungeon as I never made it past the first dungeon before uninstalling. not for me.
It looks almost photorealistic but everything else and especially combat has been done better in other games. Gameplay is dark messiah without the fun experimentation or combat physics, it's a little too basic feeling, audio/ambience isn't really there either.
Worse than Darksouls I do not like doulsouls style games and this game somehow managed to be worse, it has all the worst parts of a darksouls style memorize patterns or die and the worse parts of quick reaction fighting because it allows you to do neither. Enemies can stun you, very easily, so if you get hit once even with a full bar of stamina you'll be standing there mashing your attack button wondering why your guy is just standing with his weapon up getting hit. The AI loves ranged attacks and there is no shield, you do not regenerate either health or mana so you can't snipe from a distance and recharge. You will just have to reload a combat encounter over and over again and since saving is limited to certain spots you will have to fight the same bs fight over and over again. There also isn't a fun loot system, you mostly just get plants even from chests to make consumable potions.
It is only 10 bucks but it still feels pretty low quality for what they seem to be aiming for. For one the controls are so clunky, all the actions are super delayed making combat a slog and dying purely to missing buttons. That leads me to another point, the control schemes are pretty awful too, buttons that make no sense to do that action are present for every function it seems yet you never have time to use them. I'll likely still keep playing it as I do have high hopes for the game but for now I can't recommend it off the awful controls alone. Haven't played long enough to really get into the story but in the hour i've gotten its been incredibly boring with you going everywhere and anywhere without any real explanation as why. You kind of show up to places while your rat pet talks in your ear about the story but doesn't ever elaborate.
Pretty but hated the controls and hated that I could not rebind block or dodge. Clearly needs more time in the oven.
