Reviews
Haven't been familiar with the previous expeditions games and tactical games of this nature I played it on Insane, I would say it is definitely doable, however the game turns more into rushing the victory objective, which I found enjoyable as you felt everything was stacked against you. Few observations without spoilers: 1. Veles are useless in the beginning, but very useful later on, if not invaluable for late game objectives. 2. Shields with "hunker down" are the best, controlling access points is a must. 3. Managing your supplies is very important, especially in act II where rations just melt, be careful. 4. Prioritise making and resupplying tactical items, throwing knives>pilas because of deflect on enemies. Overall great game if you are a fan of the Romans and the culture/history; the voice acting is great; the game is challenging, but I never felt it was impossible; great for tactical game fans. And for last I would say it was a step-up from Vikings in every way, the studio continues to improve and I can't wait for their next game!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Good turn based rpg
Came for a round based strategy game, became a great RPG experience with heavy decisions down to the very end
Too much hand-holding for something that "lets you shape the future of Rome". I felt like being funnelled the whole time, and it grew tedious after a while. Felt like I could just click at whatever is highlighted and spend time like that, not having to think much at all. Victory conditions are also a bit silly and break immersion (burn two ships and suddenly everyone just stops fighting and runs off in their separate direction). Also voicing breaks immersion as they're using modern English with pseudo-roman pronunciation, id est it sounds just weird. Fights on their own are OK, but become boring once you grasp the mechanics. Visually beautiful game though, but give me Kenshi over this empty polish any day.
good RPG
God..where else can you turn-based in ancient Rome? Love all the expeditions, this is the best one so far! Just wish some of those great Mod gremlins worked their magic on this one.

I really was surprised how much I liked it. Rome is a perfect setting for a Tactical game. I wish for Mods and more DLC and a character editor and maybe a level designer. I will replay it and probably buy Viking and Samurai. The pacification mechanic can get tedious so disable it, and crafting can be onerous, but combat is fun and it has enough twists to keep a player guessing. I liked this ancient Roman era RPG, it is all the better since it is alternate history but populated with all kinds of familiar frenemies.
This game is awesome. X-com like combat but set in Rome. Could be improved as the siege battles can drag and the land battles are extremely simple but overall this surprised me and I loved it!
