This is a fantastic aid for creating dungeons, buildings, and environments for TTRPGs. I normally wouldn't rate an Early Access product as I've been burned several times, but this one is being updated regularly, and is already a great product. I can't wait to see what else they do to make it even better.
Wouldnt recommend Still so backwards, diagonal walls are still a mission let alone actually editing room shapes properly, program been out since 2022 and basic shape modeling is still lack luster. Was a kickstarter and deeply regret it, save your money, try Inkarnate or even a free program as map layouts if not BASIC, and i mean basic, the program has a borderline stroke and can not comprehend it.

This is a great resource for game masters and people who just want to make really cool maps! The interactive elements, like being able to open/close doors, chests, and even the toilet lid (LMAO) is one of my favorite features. You can even put the camera in a first person mode and walk around inside your creations! How cool is that? The UI is really quite simple and I was able to figure out the basics in only a few tries. Now, I know I haven't explored all this program is capable of but what I have seen just blows me away! Buildings of nearly any type can be made because you control all the objects that go in them. You can manipulate what's on the tables, what's in the chests, etc. You can add/remove pre-selected furniture. The options are pretty extensive. AND you can export your creations to JPEG or PNG so you can print or share them! Now, all that said, the game has limitations. The game is still in early access. This means, despite all the objects already available, there is a limited library of things to choose from. For example, there is not yet a pre-made Simple Farm Cottage or Vampire's Lair but you have enough existing items in the graphics library to make a reasonable approximation. Also, weather effects tend to bleed over to the insides of structures. However, that might be from my novice skill. And trying to create multi-level structures wasn't intuitive for me. Some sleep was lost figuring out how to do that. Also, the program is, currently, geared toward individual buildings or small villages. Continent or even world spanning maps are not possible, yet. Developers have already stated they are planning to add this, though. Overall, I give the program (I know the devs call it a game but I think that's unfair) 8 out of 10! However, all my complaints only have to do with the game still being in early access. As the game continues to evolve, I can see my concerns being swept away by natural development. I eagerly await the finished product.
I wish there was an okay button. Its right there on being an amazing asset but it just falls short. Lets you create the map and quickly but doesnt have features to just play in the app itself. Goes in first person and thats it. no ability to host a game and have the players have a fog of war or anything. its like all these dnd apps out here. just shy of being perfect. You can export the map you make and it is fast to make but the only way I found how to play with fog of war and a 3d map is by paying another 50 bucks for another app called Foundry to export the map you make here. So it just feels incomplete. sorry for the negative review but its just how it is.
I love doing larger field battles with lots of terrain and changing factors each turn. Dungeon Alchemist is good for those closer encounters and such, but it's missing what I love most. I'm returning the game for now, but hopefully they expand the space you can work on and build with.
I was fooled by the large amount of assets on the workshop. After purchasing it, I discovered they were almost unusable. I wanted to use it for maps in modern or sci-fi settings, but I find myself with software that's useless to me. If you don't use the standard assets, you can't create rooms or environments with AI. Maps must be built by placing each individual piece at a time. To make the floor of a room, you have to place each individual tile by hand. The same goes for the walls. And the fact that collisions aren't recognized for edges and you have to reselect the assets every time doesn't make things any easier. In short, the assets from the workshop modders were inserted half-heartedly and purely for marketing purposes. If you don't want to use the basic assets (i.e., only fantasy settings), don't buy it; you won't use it.
I've used a myriad of Map making engines and software from Inkarnate, Multiverse Designer, Chronos Builder, In-game screenshots and Unreal engine itself to make maps. I saw this on sale and decided to try it out, it had the same vibes as Chronos Builder that came out a few years back. Weirdly, it's much more clunky, the autogeneration is just as terrible too as the Chronos button was and requires a lot of manual manipulation to get assets correct. I suppose one the saving graces is the asset collection and map sharing content. I browsed around and saw a lot of effort placed into maps and assets that are shareable and uploadable. Another saving grace is the exporting allows for higher resolution and map sizes for Foundry VTT than Chronos Builder did. The ability to upload assets was interesting as well, I haven't uploaded anything as of yet as my assets aren't my own (procured from unreal free market or blender). So that's something to keep in mind for future updates in reviews. Overall, for Fantasy TTRPGs this will fit well. For Cyberpunk RED or Lancer this is lacking tremendously as assets aren't all there yet. So as usual, in-game screenshots with a mix of Inkarnate and Unreal engine and Multiverse Designer will be my go to for Cyberpunk. I will continue to use this as it gets updated on occasion and I will update my review accordingly. It is clunky and requires a lot of editing/erasing. There needs to be a clear option to allow users to just edit blank rooms and insert their own ideas into the maps instead.
It is the greatest software I have used. The levels for buildings has taken all of my maps into the 3 dimensional space and that is the most incredible experience I have had. All of my players gawk at how beautiful the maps are. And it isn't just fantasy elements I have made modern buildings for my Mutants and masterminds campaign. I am so glad that the team behind it cares about the product they create!
I never write negative reviews, but this software is SO frustrating! Aside from the needlessly restrictive functionality, it crashes constantly, fails to autosave, and brings every creative flow to a grinding, bitterly disappointing halt. Plays merry havoc with my ADHD and is just so disappointingly short of what it could be.
