Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.5/day in the week to Aug 5 → 3.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Buying this game was a huge mistake. Missing the refund window was an even bigger one. The whole game feels like it was made for preschoolers. Even the worst mobile games are miles ahead of this mess in terms of complexity. The characters, the plot, the game structure, the level design, and the dialogue are among the worst things I’ve ever experienced in a game. Even on the high difficulty setting, it’s still far too easy. I absolutely cannot understand all the positive reviews here. Even at the sale price, it’s still way too expensive.
This was my first experience with DQVII. Story was mostly predictable, but I loved the characters enough where that didn't matter much at all. It was also a perfect game on my Steam Deck, and it just played and looked great. If I had any complaints, it would be the game testing my patience at times with some stories being drawn out. I know they shortened the length of the game and improved traversal/battle speed, but there were times where I was like "come on, LET'S MOVE ON". Still that wasn't often at all, but they stood out the handful of times it happened. Overall I give it an 8.5 / 10 - Recommended

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

NOTE: This will be a comparison of the original PS1 version of the game, since I never personally played the handheld version. Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. This is a remake of a game that first appeared on ps1, then on handheld, and finally, on pc. This version has several things removed from the game, but also has added many quality of life things to make the game more easier and functional. Due to new laws in Japan about showing gambling in games and it is now considered illegal, some things were changed from the original version of the game, including gambling mechanics. The other things removed from the game were a island stuck in a time loop that featured charisma contests in present day, a island that featured a present day casino, a monster hunting island where you could recruit monsters, and the immigrant town to make your own town. Out of all these things, personally i find the changes not that bad, except the immigrant town island where players could make their own towns. I suggested on the forums if they released it as a dlc, i probably buy it. Many quality of life changes have been made. For example, in the original one, you ran into monster randomly. In this version, monsters can be hit and seen on the maps. Some things now appear as shortcuts which can be changed in the settings menu for shortcuts. Like whistle, which was originally a skill you needed to cast. Now, you just need to press a button on a controller and it is done. This version did add one new thing, but since i do not wish to spoil it, i will not personally talk about it. There are also shortened dungeons, and less islands in this version. This is to due to the new Japan anti gambling law, which also effects video games. Anyways, here is my pros and cons list: PROS: - A classic game with remake with quality of life updates. - A main line Dragon Quest game on steam. - Some changes that improve the game including shortcuts to make doing some things faster. - Lucky Panel game that changed the gambling mechanics in the game. This mini game is a match 2 picture game. - Post games activities for players to do other things in the game. - This game works with controllers. I used a Nintendo Switch 1 Zen Neo controller. - Works on windows 11 OS version 25h2. CONS: - My biggest gripe is that they removed the immigrant town. The reason they removed it is because of more strict laws against gambling showing in games. In the original one, the immigrant town have 5 different forms. One of them was the casino town. They also removed the monster recruiting town, and the time loop town. Not everyone is happy with these changes. Most personally do not bother me, except removal of immigrant town. - The beginning of the game was much longer on previous versions. This version has been streamlined to make gameplay faster. Also, many dungeons are now much shorter than they used to be. Again, not everyone is happy with these new changes. Do I recommend this game? Yes, I do. Although I am personally not happy with them removing the Immigrant Town island mechanic from the game, the game is still fun for what it is. It will take you some time to fully beat it, but the game has been made easier from original versions. Some people consider this bad because the changes made to make the game easier are shorter dungeons and such. I do not mind them personally, except for the removal of the Immigrant Town. I am actually happy pc and steam got more mainline Dragon Quest games. The more they put on here, the better. It also has video game preservation, even if it is not in the original version it was released.
I wanted to like this game as i love several other games in the series (DQ2/3 remake, 11, V, and i am even fond of 9) But this game is so utterly boring. Its starts out interesting and fun, but then becomes a slog of the same story beats over and over. Get puzzle pieces Go to new island in past Oh no there is a problem Go get item or kill monster to fix problem Yay happy ending, or not. Go back to present time and visit future island for another puzzle piece Do the same thing for whatever new place youve unlocked. This ♥♥♥♥ can go on for 50+ hours of the same thing over and over. I beat the game because i paid for it, but I really wish i hadnt

We need a Dragon Quest 9 Remake <3
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined delivers an exceptional game, one which excels in its storytelling if you can ignore the flaws
TL;DR

[th]Pros[/th] [th]Cons[/th]

✔️ A charming diorama-style display featuring Toriyama’s character designs. ❌ There are shader cache stutters on new battle effects and cutscenes, as well as on your first visit to cities.

✔️ Adjustable difficulty and comfort settings including quality of life options (QoL). ❌ The volume of some voices in cutscenes is incredibly inconsistent, which is very weird. For those interested in achievements: You have to grind and farm a lot, but optional QoL features will help you[/th]

Is it worth buying? Yes

In-Depth

Story
The story begins on the island of Estard, seemingly the only piece of land in the entire world. The protagonist, the son of a fisherman, stumbles upon the Temple of Mysteries with his childhood friends, is transported back in time, and discovers that entire lands have been sealed away by an evil force. A fragment of a map that his father brings back from a fishing trip reveals that the world used to have more landmasses. The hero and his friend Kiefer find a way back to the past, when the continents still existed. So what begins as a simple fishing trip ends up as a time-travel adventure full of mysteries. The focus is on restoring the world by finding and placing stone fragments. These fragments open portals to past eras, where individual island episodes take place. It's basically the LIVE A LIVE of Dragon Quest. After resolving local problems, the group returns to the present, and the rescued region reappears on the world map. The world is thus gradually reconstructed. The tone is charming, if somewhat clichéd at times, carried by a childlike diorama style and humorous monster designs. The miniature-like environments and warm colour palette are intended to make the adventure feel like a living model. Akira Toriyama’s character designs are brought to life in this 3D world without the adventure losing any of its dramatic intensity. Personally, I love the characters in Dragon Quest titles, even the NPCs, and the atmosphere is unique to me. On top of that, no other game designs houses and buildings as well as Dragon Quest titles do. Every house or building makes perfect sense as a space, so you can always easily imagine that real people actually live there.
Gameplay
The gameplay is based on a clear core loop: exploring the current world and searching for stone fragments, the key resource needed to unlock new destinations. Once the fragments have been inserted, you are transported to a bygone era in which an island episode takes place. There, you solve local problems through dialogue, exploration, dungeon sections and boss battles. Upon returning to the present, the rescued region reappears and the world map expands. At the same time, the group continues to develop through vocations (classes), new abilities and the combination of roles. The combat system is turn-based and has been modernised with options for combat speed, increased experience and vocation points. The core of the system remains the class system, supplemented by two key modernisations: Vocational Perks give each class its own special effects, ranging from offensive to support-focused specialisations. Moonlighting allows the simultaneous use of two vocations, which increases build diversity and reduces the grind required to unlock higher levels. Using two vocations at once grants access to the skills, spells and perks of both roles. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3676364560 Let Loose effects can also be used as an additional, game-changing mechanic that allows for powerful effects without losing the core action of the turn. These powerful actions can be triggered and shift the momentum in battles. The game offers classic difficulty levels such as Easy, Normal and Hard, as well as finely adjustable parameters that can be tweaked during the playthrough, such as enemy strength or progression pace. If you want a more "laid back" experience, feel free to increase experience points to avoid grinding. One point of criticism, particularly from people who have never played Dragon Quest before, is that the game can become too easy despite the options, partly because Auto Battle and convenience features encourage over-levelling. In general, this is not a series where you have to grind to level up. The target audience is also children, so if you're looking for a bigger challenge, the endgame is where it begins, with an epilogue following the main storyline. In addition to the main campaign, the game also offers side content: Optional challenges such as arena content are expanded via DLC. The add-on "The Road of Regal Wretches" expands the combat arena to include battles against legendary demon kings from the Erdrick trilogy.
Graphics
The diorama style is at the heart of this re-release. Miniature-like environments, warm colour palettes and Toriyama’s character designs make the adventure feel like a living model. The presentation translates the familiar character designs into a 3D world that is deliberately designed to look like a miniature. This style gives the game a charming, childlike feel without losing any of the story’s dramatic peaks. The only downside is that the shader cache doesn't load all shaders properly. Whenever a new effect is used in battle or a new town is entered, there is always an initial stutter, but this never happens again. It's hard to believe that such an obvious flaw was overlooked.
Music & Sound
The music is a key part of the overall experience and contributes to the series charm. Calm village themes alternate with dramatic boss battle arrangements, whilst the melodies remain catchy and atmospheric. The sound design complements the diorama-style presentation. The sound effects during combat provide clear feedback: swords clash with a metallic ring, spells crackle and hiss, and critical hits produce a distinctive "punchy" effect. The balance between the background music and the combat sounds works well, without the two tracks drowning each other out. The music conveys the different moods of the episodes superbly, even though many of the tracks are already familiar from older or newer titles. The only issue I've noticed here is that the audio dialogue is sometimes incredibly loud or quiet. 90% of the dialogue is fine, but it's weird that it's sometimes too quiet or too loud.
Conclusion
DQ VII Reimagined is a compelling RPG remake of one of the most popular Dragon Quest titles, featuring a charming diorama-style aesthetic and well-thought-out modernisations. The fantastic story, with its vignette-style structure comprising many short island episodes, ensures variety without feeling drawn out, as it has been optimised and revised in this respect compared to the original. Convenience options such as Auto Battle and customisable difficulty make the 40-hour-plus adventure more accessible, though they can also make it too easy. Anyone looking for a long, atmospheric JRPG with a great story and plenty of fantastic characters will find the best version of a classic here if they can overlook the graphical shader stutters as well as weird pitched audio parts.
Final Verdict: 8/10 - Beautiful remake with minor flaws.
My first time playing any version of DQ7 and I overall loved it, though those two things are probably related. I've read some of the common criticism from existing fans about this version, and I think those complaints are totally reasonable. A few of the island stories were simplified too much, the Mysterious Shrine is basically just a single room now, the difficulty is very low especially early on, etc. But for new players especially, I think this version is very easy to recommend. Just turn up the difficulty and turn off the objective marker (to the extent that the game allows) if you're looking for any kind of challenge. Played entirely on Steam Deck at medium settings, no issues.
