Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is my first time playing Dragon Quest three but, as a dragon quest fan since the PS1 I knew I was in for some videogame comfort food. I was not disappointed. The story: Awesome! The music: Banging! Extra things to do outside of the story: it's got those too. I just want to get this out of the way first since it's the purpose of this version of the game: This game is BEAUTIFUL! I loved every inch of this 3d pixel world. The turn-based combat was exactly what I expected and the different jobs your characters can have are a fun way to build a party. I can easily recommend this game to both RPG fans and fans of the pixel artstyles of older games.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

There are huge delays for no reason in the menus. When you level up it delays the menu going forward for 3 seconds for no reason, when you save the game it saves for like 7 seconds for no reason. They just bake all these delays into dialog and status windows for no reason.
I wanted to like this game since I liked DQ 7, 8, and 11 (11 less so), but it just doesn't quite hit the mark. From a visual and music perspective, it's a great. The new monster wrangler job adds a bit of flavor and capturing monsters is a cool side quest. But the negatives pile up quite quickly. Probably the most annoying is the combat, it's very repetitive and the different jobs don't really add that much depth. All the battles go pretty much the same. I would have like them to change the first person combat to a more traditional overall battlefield view with attack animations like in the other games (or at least have the option to change it, for people that "like" this combat style; I really really hate this first person view, it feels so cheap and underdeveloped). I like the fact that you can switch classes and retain the abilities you learn from the other class, but it just means more useless grinding and adds to the monotonous gameplay (same old abilities over and over). In terms of gear, I either couldn't afford any of the new gear from new towns or decided it wasn't worth it as it wouldn't have been much of an upgrade. Boomerangs on melee jobs is the only way to speed up battles, prior to your mages getting All target AoE abilities which is almost half way through the game... This of course adds more to the monotonous combat even more. Not being able to skip random battles (except for through an item that only affects low level monsters, that doesn't last very long) and no movement speed increase (except for the slight "run" button hold/toggle) in the remake are also negatives in my view. You spend most of your time running around different places with no real goal. You can only save at chapels (cool feature from an immersion standpoint, but not good for QoL). The story is also not very good, but that's true in the original as well. In my opinion, FFV remaster is a much much better game in every way (at 1/4 the price!), even though it's still a 2D pixel game unlike this remake.
I don't actually have much bad to say about DQ3, and can think of a lot of people I'd recommend it to, but I tend to write reviews in the vein of something I would've liked to have read before getting the game, and were I talking to my past self, I would have given it this thumbs down. Dragon Quest 3 is a classic game, by which I mean an old game, ancient even; In all ways but audiovisual (and the odd QOL improvement) it's an NES JRPG. If you're doing a full run-through of the entire series and want the definitive edition of each game, then this is probably the version of DQ3 you'd want. If you're a burgeoning videogame historian and both wish to see how these older games were but do not want to find a way to play the original versions, then I guess this is good for you too. Lastly, if you have some incredible nostalgia for the original in particular, I can see this as a good way to relive those memories with some extra little frills to make it stand in line with its contemporaries. However, outside of those 3 reasons, I can't think of a single thing this game does that isn't outdone by almost everything that has been released since, both from the outside world and this game's own franchise. If you want a simple, easy-to-understand JRPG with amusing (and frankly phenomenal) voice acting, a cheery cast of strange and wonderful characters, enemy names and designs that'll be giving you chuckles the whole way through, and a comfortable story about heroes and villains, then just play any of the later entries of the Dragon Quest series. The game's presentation clearly takes centre stage when compared to its mechanics, and so playing a later entry designed for more modern machines that can better deliver on that promise feels like a no-brainer. I'd personally recommend DQ11 for that, since all the DQ games play almost identically and that one is just superior in every aspect I can imagine to this game, whilst being almost half the price. If you're thinking of dipping your toes into this series and don't know where to start, I can't think of a better place, as going back to play these older ones feels more like a chore as they look, feel, sound and play worse to DQ11. If you're interested in more mechanical depth and creativity in your JRPGs, then you are probably better off avoiding DQ as a whole. It's a mindless, grindfest autobattler for most of the game and without a whole lot of crunch to really get into, which just isn't the favour of RPG for me, hence the colour of the review. I can barely even describe it with just how bland it can be, like if you were to ask yourself "What does a game need in order to be a JRPG" and wrote a checklist for it, and then proceeded to make a game out of a checklist whilst adding nothing else. Your imagination will have to do the rest, I'm afraid. If you want a game with creative and innovative gameplay ideas, this isn't it. If you want a game to challenge you, this isn't it. If you want a game to whisk you away into an epic story with memorable characters, this isn't it. If you want a game that requires you to think hard and engage with its systems, this isn't it. If you do not want (or simply do not care about) any of those things, then just get DQ11 instead, it will be this but better, I promise.
Oui. Jouez voleur. Trop de mimiques ? Jouez mage. On bloque ma magie ?
